  1. I have chosen to be rather boring about the knife carry issue. I have and always will carry a leatherman. I currently carry my leatherman "crunch" 95% of the time and the orginal leatherman the rest of the time. Should be an interesting thread seeing the numerous knives friends of mine carry. The Saiga group must have some very unique knives on them.
  2. but what aobut the S20. I heard it was supposed to be out either last week or this week
  3. I have used several of them in my S12 and only flares in my S410 all with good results. The bird bombs or starburst don't cycle all the time in my S12, just not enough behind them.
  4. I love to get offroad and hunt, with ex military weapons and the saigas of course. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZ-geO6dWNU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vQFVE1Fgx0&feature=user
  5. some caprative youtube videos would be nice.
  6. Well in that I am all to familiar with the local news people around here. From what I can desipher the rules they broke were regarding improper paperwork. I would assume something along the lines of not double checking ffl's or incorrect filled out forms. The ATF is not known for just raiding a business without arresting someone unless it is just administrative issues. Time will of course tell but I would bet when the news agencies find out what it was all about they don't even bother with a follow up report. Calvary Arms did mainly internet business and has for some time now. I would b
  7. Pistol Parlour 500 W Southern Ave Mesa, AZ 85210-5016 (480) 835-6643 I have used them to transfer in my firearms and also supply me with the odds and ends needed for shooting sports, oh yeah and the ocassional firearm purchase.
  8. The Saiga's are finally making it out west. My local gun shop has two Saiga S12's in 19" barrel on the wall now. No wonder they were not happy when I brought in my 3 earlier.
  9. not aimed at anyone in particular. I just get tired of hearing the old "410's don't have the power" thing. The first time I saw a Saiga it was being used by Russian security for interior building patrol. At that time the side folder stock would engage the safety when folded, kind of odd to me for a Russian weapon. I don't really want a round flying through several walls of my house, so I prefer the 410 with shot. If the home is being invaded by someone wearing body armor they would most likely be at the wrong address, nothing worth enough to warrant that experienced of a thief. The usual
  10. The problem with people who insist on comparing 410 shotshell loads out of short barrel pistols is their ignorance as to the way a shotshell works. In a pistol the powder charge burns up fairly quickly in most cases around 4" in a shotgun the powder can still be burning at 14 to 16 inches. The shotshell never gets the load up to speed in the short barrels of the pistols and the results will show this. I have a friend with a Thompson Contender 410 6" barrel that could hardly knock a bottle of water over at 25yds. With the same load in my saiga the bottle is blown apart. BTW you must liv
  11. If you are concerned about the money and delivery, I will buy your drum right now sight unseen. I could always use an extra drum.

  13. well first off the specialty rounds are much more abundant in 12ga. The standard 12ga hunting ammo is cheaper and often more available. It would appear by the shear numbers of 12's being converted that there is more available accessories for them. Magazines in different sizes are available for the 12 whereas it is difficult to find them in 20. I personally prefer the 410 for home defense but that is another issue. I use my 12, 20 and 410 for hunting and have no real interest in conversions. I find the stock gun to suite my needs well, of course that is just me. I would think if you were
  14. I thought Stanley's only had the 19" S12. The 19" seem to be more available than the 24's. I only found two of the 24's but would like to get the third 24 if one could be found.
  15. to heck with dealing with swiftvision and get back to assembling drums The guys with no patience for items built with attention to detail don't deserve them anyway. Keep up the good work/testing and let us know when they are ready for distribution. Would rather have it right than fast.
  16. Just picked up another pistol at gun show today and need to stock up on ammo.
  17. My 7.62x39 is not a saiga but I just use wolf hollow points. They have been effective on javelina and coyotes as well.
  18. The Brenneke black magic has always worked well for me in my other shotguns. I have not tried it in the Saiga but I would have to imagine they would perform just as well. I have used the Brenneke slugs in my S410 with great success against javelina. Interestingly enough here is a link listing the 410 slug that mentions them working in the Saiga's http://www.smokewagongear.com/p-229-brenne...gnm-3-slug.aspx
  19. have you by chance started a list of those wishing to purchase the lrbho? If so would like to be in for two units. I have to ask what are the chances the lrbho will work on the 20's and 410's? Thanks for all you do.
  20. My S20 and his friends, didn't want him to be lonely. Still waiting for the S20 Polychoke. S20 is 3rd from right or 4th from left depending on your view.
  21. since remington fixed the magazine problem I understand it works well with the new metal mags. keepshooting.com has a 30rd for the 597. The 10/22 is a very solid gun. One big advantage is all the extra or add ons available for the 10/22 if someday you decide to modify it. One thing about the factory optics, they are usually not all that great. You would be better served purchasing a decent scope seperate. I personally use a Marlin 60SB with a 3-9 X32 scope. I have taken animals as large as bobcats and coyotes but prefer rabbits and squirrels with this rifle. I have several other 22l
  22. The 10 rounders make it more interesting but sure would like a drum for the S410 and oh yeah for the S20 as well. My S12 drum hopefully will be here soon.
  23. One big difference - MD has been stating from the outset that there were a limited number of advance order drums with the discounted price. Mike even kept people up to date with how many were left to order. Congrats to the risk takers - glad it worked out. Unfortunately Keepshooting has probably lost out on a lot of sales because of their poor communication. If they had advertised an end date or limited quantity, more people probably would have ordered. Some of them probably still will, but I would predict it will be a lower number than if they had just told us straight-up what the deal wa
  24. I took several ducks this year with mine (acquired my s12 near the end of the season) and my s410 has taken a great number of quail and dove. I love these guns for birds. I don't even shoot my o/u, pumps or other semis now.
  25. I was brave enough to try a new product. I am happy that I did and even got a pretty good deal. The people who are willing to take chances sometimes get good deals while other times they get screwed. It is just a matter of being willing to gamble once in a while. I am sorry to see that people who did not want to take a chance are upset by the price increase but that is what is to be expected I guess. What is everyone going to say when they see the new prices of the drum mags? I am still waiting for my "beta" version and yes I would prefer the 3" model but I am willing to gamble that the
