  1. Thanks to Nathan and crew for getting me the parts I needed to complete this build. MAA: Stock and Receiver plate. Worked well and feel great. Trigger group. Hogue Grip. Best feeling grip I own! Fast dependable service which can not be beat.
  2. Just finished my conversion on the 308. Thanks to the vendors at this site for helping out. MAA: MAA Stock Hogue Grip Trigger group Dinzag: Sights Answering conversion questions. Silva Coatings: the powder coat light grey Cobra 76two: Conversion questions and a guidance Could not have done it wit out your help. Thanks to all. Enjoy. Cobra
  3. There fixed it for you. Yea living in a non-free state sucks but for those of us who do we have to learn to live within the laws until we can change them. An SLR and forward trigger beat the hell out of a stock set up anyday.
  4. The pics in the linked thread are mine. I will say that it is able to be done. I used the Bridgeport to do it but as others have said a dremel will also work. You have to go slow and have a bit of patience. If you need better pics I can send some to you. you will have to modify the front of the stock so the stock will move toward the forward mounted trigger group. the areas that will need to be addressed are both sides, the top where the tab for the rear stock screw goes and the area just above the trigger area for clearance. Once installed it really feels good and mounts so
  5. Your guessed wrong. There should be a grip screw with the new hand guard. In not let me know and I will send you one. I believe that as others have said it is 5mm .8 pitch. If you need I can double check the box of Allen heads I have kicking around.
  6. +1 for Brian, He was answering mundane conversion questions via traded e-mails on a Sat night over several hours one time with no $ on the table. Just answering to be helpful. If he is not returning e-mails immediately then he will be shortly. Dinzag is a good Co., run by good people with quality parts.
  7. The guard extends a little past the end of the gas tube. The front is open however and with little additional effort and clean threads the adjuster is easily moved.
  8. If you need one I may have one floating around here from the .308 I am converting you can have.
  9. I would not concider it free float any more than the stock hand guard is. I tried to make it free float but when I installed the mount less the forward mount it would move left to right. I thought about a second screw hole further back but I did not want to get invloved with mods to the actual gun. I have on on a .308 and it did not seem to have any effect on the POI but that was @ 50 ft.
  10. I got an e-mail from Alumalite the other day. He is still around, as to his business status I can not speak. He is still a member here. I would ship him a PM and wait for a response. He once told me he does not check in as often as he would like so it might take some time to get a response. Judging from what I have seen he really enjoys his work and seems to be a quite a craftsman, I am sure he would make more product if you get in touch with him.
  11. I have found the 12, 20 and .410 to have different mounting at the reciever area. A 12 ga mount tang will not be long enough or have the right thickness thus making it loose. Mount tang on a 12 is just shy of 1 1/4 (W) x 1/4 (H) While the 410 measures closer to 1 1/4 (W) and 3/8 (H).
  12. Got my LMT from Lars @ Umlault Arms. He seems like a good straight forward guy. I know he recently got into the Saiga market.
  13. I hesitate to mention it here as the company is not generally well received but... Leapers/UTG Covert cases. You can find them online cheaply and my guess is that some of the vendors here also carry their products. I had heard the cases were quite a value but always wrote them off. I recently bought a couple of cases including one of the double rifle cases. Since the pistol cases were cheap enough I tried a few tests (not scientific). Opened and closed my brother grabbed one handle and I the other. I was able to pull him off balance rather than the case failing or ripping. Th
  14. How much length does the plug add to the gas tube?
  15. Not 100% clear on the question but I will try and answer to the best of my ability what I think you are asking. I do not currently offer a top rail. MAA does however offer many choices for a top rail as well as other quad rails. The round nature of the guard makes it harder to mount something that can attach to the guard an encompasses the gas system. There are gas tube rails and cover rails that could be used with the guard with out interference. If you needed additional clearance for one of those rails I can accommodate that with a custom guard with wider clearance around the gas
  16. My understanding of the shotgun shell is also that the shot stays in the wad until it exits the barrel. Therefor the only thing that ever touches the lining (steel or lead) is the plastic cup which contains the shot.
  17. Regionally for you I would have no idea. Locally I pay about 40$ standard Per firearm. I would call around. I know the price varies from shop to shop around here. +-5-10$
  18. Perfect solution. Sorry Cobra did not know you offered one.
  19. Spartacus, The shroud should not interfere with the guard. The OAL on the guard is 8.750" About the same length as a standard hand guard if measured at the bottom. Each guard comes with 2 special nuts for mounting a rail. Any rail with a flat bottom will mount to the guards. On the Holes guard there is only room for the rail slots @ 6 O'clock. But it will easily take a 6" rail. Sorry, I can not help out with the pics. Hopefully someone else can assist with that.
  20. AlphaDogo, Not at this time. The rails however slide on from the front so if you got one of the gas cover style rails it should not interfere with the installation of the guard. I would like to offer one that goes from the front of the longer guards and fits the rear sight dove tail but have been unable to find rail lengths long enough. If you know where to buy 2ft or longer precut rail let me know and I can get something figured out. I only have a Bridgeport so making rial would be extremely time consuming. MAA has rail lengths that will work but no top rail.
