  1. I have had no issues with the few I have they are the 24 rounders.
  2. If I had to do the 308 AK all over again, I think I'd do the SUPER VEPR. They look nice in pictures. Would love to see one up close and in person, but that's not in the cards right now. I am interested in anyones experience/performance with the SUPER VEPR.
  3. Looks good! I finally, pulled my front sight base off and moved it back. Revealing .670" under the FSB. I will thread mine to 5/8"-24, need to turn a TAT on the lathe first. Mine is the long barrelled 07' version. My FSB was a royal pain to remove and required heat. Got it bored out, moved back and repinned. No problems there. Since I was at my buddy's shop I was finally able to straighten my rear sight base in addition to the FSB. My gun was clearly a Vodka special as the rear sight base was canted counter clockwise better than 5 degrees. Will be ordering a brake soon.

Looks too nice for an AK!
  5. If your safety isn't working read the pinned safety section. I would strongly recommend getting it corrected, before taking the gun out. It is not complicated to fix, if you have access to welding/brazing. If not buy a safety that has been fixed. Even if you feel comfortable with a gun that is not functioning correctly, keep in mind that someone in the future could get a hold of the firearm. There is no room for (accidental shootings), especially with a 308.
  6. Before you start the conversion read the instructions/walk-throughs/guides completely. It will make more sense as you proceed through the conversion. The 308 is relatively easy provided your take your time, be patient and thorough. As to being able to tell if the pistol grip hole is there without removing the plate and trigger guard. Just take the guts out (fire-control group)and look at the bottom of the inside of the receiver, if I remember correctly you should be able to see if the pistol grip hole is cut out or not. The links provided earlier will give you good information.
  7. Nice looking mags, wish I could afford to buy some. You do good work!
  8. Nice job! I wish my FSB would come off that easy. If it did mine would be threaded by now.
  9. No as the others have stated. Here's why in addition to the brass differences, 7.62 x 39 bullet diameter is .311" where as 308 Winchester (7.62 x 51) bullet diameter is .308".
  10. The T6 Collapsible Stock with Pistol Grip would still fit, but you'd have to remove the pistol grip portion and replace it as YWHIC posted. If you didn't remove the attached pistol grip on the T-6 you'd have two pistol grips.
  11. This topic has been discussed in previous posts if I recall correctly. To my knowledge there are no after market Fire Control Groups that would allow you to keep your factory set up. In order to run Dinzag's FCG you would have to move the FCG forward and return the AK to its original non-sporter specs. You would no longer be able to use your Tapco collapsible stock. A fully converted gun has a much better feel and the triggers are considerably nicer. In my opinion, it is worth the money to convert the gun.
  12. I thought I posted my shooting experience previously, but it appears I didn't. I took my two Promag 308's out shortly after receiving them. Ran each mag dry from 25 rds. Neither had any problems they both functioned and locked up good. I didn't shoot any more rounds as I have been with out a job for far too long, and didn't want to burn up more of my ammo supply. I will test them more thoroughly in the future.
  13. Got a chance over the weekend to try out my new Pmags. Was only able to run both of my two mags one time each, as I don't have an endless supply of ammo. I was pleased at how they performed. No problems with either mag both locked up well with no issues. Hopefully, I'll be able to burn some more ammo soon!
  14. I just received my two Pro Mags today, and at $58 delivered, I am happy. I have taken some pictures disassembled. While they advertise as being 24 rounders the two I received hold 25 nicely. When loaded to 25 there is enough room to cycle the action. I hope to get to the range over the weekend and put them through the paces. If they function as well as they look I will be getting a couple more. One additional point they are slightly longer 1/4" than the Surefire 25 rounders.
  15. I second the Lee Dies, I have both RCBS & Lee Dies for 300 Win Mag. I always choose to use the Lee dies over the RCBS. Both are good dies especially for the money.
  16. I currently have the Mojo Micro click sight on my 308, I like it, I have all three peep sight inserts. While I have used them all, I currently only use the middle one. I would recommend the sight, but I wouldn't spend the extra money on the additional inserts. They adjust very easy for fine tuning accuracy. One additional note, the clicks on the micro-click system go up by .75 MOA, not really a problem just something to note when adjusting for bullet drop at range. I personally would have preferred 1/2 clicks, but as the dial can only be so big you limit the total amount of clicks.
  17. I haven't seen this posted yet, if it has sorry, just use warm soapy water. Then clean with normal solvents. Black Powder shooters been using warm soapy water for a long time.
  18. From what I recall, I believe Dinzag makes a modified G2 specifically for the 308. Just be sure to order the one that is specific for the 308 to solve the safety issue. I modified my own so I don't have direct knowledge of this, but I think I remember that he takes the safety issue into account for the 308. I would contact him directly if you have additional concerns.
  19. No idea as to where to purchase another bolt if one was to ruin his existing. Check through the old posts and search for bolt polishing there is one with pictures that show what to do. I have polished my bolt, but it has been too long ago to remember where the post is or it's name.
  20. Redwood the issue is the 3rd lug on the bolt, smacking and denting the round. The tenth bullet doesn't have enough movement to allow the bolt to slide over the round. Load one less round or carefully polish the lug as others have done. There are other posts regarding polishing the bolt's 3rd lug, be careful if you go that route as you can damage your bolt by taking of too much material and make your firearm unsafe. Easier route would be slightly trimming the legs on the magazine follower.
  21. I just ordered the 6x-24mm from Kalinka for my 308... I would have preferred to go with the 6x-42mm but wasn't sure if it would clear my mojo peep sight. Will let you all know how it looks and shoots. Have to wait for it to arrive, which is the hardest part.
  22. I only have the 308 so I can't compare them, but I can remove mine and pull the measurements for you if you'd like. Eventually, I will get Dinzags modified tube as I would like to change out the handguard so that I will be able to carry my cleaning rod in the gun, but as of yet I have not done that.
  23. I currently have the MOJO Micro Click peep sight system installed on my S308. I am very satisfied with it. The sight picture is much improved and has increased my accuracy when shooting with the irons.
  24. Pulled my handguard diameter is 0.120" & length is 0.868". I have the S308 with the 21" barrel. Hope this helps!
  25. I would confirm that the Fire Control Group that the gun shop ordered and sent to you is the correct one for the 308. I don't know how Dinzag ships his parts as I converted mine from a Tapco G2 that I modified prior to Dinzag selling his pre-modded, but I would check the packaging/invoice to confirm it is the correct one. If it is the correct modified FCG then post pictures.
