saiga12-er 5
I did not search this forum for previous postings since models and makes can change so frequently. So, which brand 20 round drum mag is best in regards to overall functionality/reliability etc. I have looked at Pro Mag, MD and I think even another brand. Any good info from anyone with actual past experience? Thanks,
gunfun 3,931
One of the drums is the primary reason for the wall of shame section. The other two have happy customers. I own none, but have tried two and think the plastic one are both good. If I were to buy drums, they would be MD20 and Promag 12. The 12 is what I would use the most because of size.
Hammer 15
MD20. Sadly, we can't use it anymore IPSC competitions...
csspecs 1,987
I have an MD20 for my saiga 12, very beefy in build... But I've only used it a half dozen times at most.
The_Caged_Bird 474
The original, MD-20 is, and always will be, the best. Promag is a copy and the Alliance Armament 30 round drum is a GREAT boat anchor...
datrowl 111
^^ what they said, MD20s .... promag 12s, a few stick mags ( factory 8s are best but rare and pricy ) and your set... the promag 20s are ok, but IMHO just not built like the MDs... MDs i'd feel ok beating someone to death with.... the promags i wouldnt want to drop
philman 8
I own an MD20 and it fit and functioned flawlessly out of the box. The Promag would not even fit. It was my friends so i didn't want to trim it to fit my gun and make it sloppy on his gun.
vicdoc 38
MD-20 fit in my gun without any filing, shoots great with the right ammo (the bulk won't work but it doesn't work with any mag I have either).
lbsrdi 1,078
In my experiences with the drums it is clear that MD is superior. It wins in quality, ruggedness, and is lightweight. I have not used the metal drums. Now if only MD would make a thirty. http://forum.saiga-1...__1#entry717115
TwiztidKlownzTX 76
I have an MD20. I was really impressed with how solid it is. Had to do both fittings, but now it locks up with absolutely no play. Function has been flawless so far. Definitely sold me on it, I'll probably end up getting a few more. saiga12-er 5
Well it looks that the MD mag is the winner. I just ordered a MD 20-rounder a minute ago. Thanks for the info.
