  1. I was at the St. Paul MN show Yesterday. No .223 Saiga's. No mags. Found a bakeilite 30 rd .223 mag for $20! Score! I talked to my Saiga dealer and he thought he would see some .223's and 7.82x29 in two weeks but he said they told him it would be $500 for .223 and $600 range for 7.62x39! Standard Stock NIB. Once the pawn shop stuff dries up, this stuff is going to really jump! Do what I did before I went to the show, Check out all the surplus firearms dealer web sites and try to find any type of AK or mag or Ammo! It's tough to find. (go to surplus rifle and to the links section a
  2. I did a serch yesterday. I went to the Surplus Rifle web site and went to every surplus web site link. Every one was totally out of mags and firearms. I have never seen anything like this.
  3. Yakdung, What part of the country are you in? It may be a regional thing. When I travel the midwest, all of the wally worlds I've been to have the same stock. I imagine Florida might not have woodland camo padded hunting gear. So if your in the northern tier of the US this might be available. I looked on line and they don't show this item, they do show the day and back packs from this series. Remember this is Fieldline brand and they have a web site. The thing I like about this pouch is it does not look military. You can have it in your car and home or shop and not look to crazy (rifle i
  4. I forgot to add that the shoulder strap is held on with nylon snaps which if removed will make them a belt pouch. New they are $8 and they include closed cell padding, not just nylon material. I don't know how wally can sell these so cheap? Slave labor? Like Russia? Hey let me know what you think about them if you can find them.
  5. I'm always looking for bargain ways to accomplish things. Saiga's are one type of bargain fighting rifle. Now that I have a bunch of magazines, I need a way to carry them. Also I need a loaded grab bag when SHTF! Shopping Wal-Mart clearance area in sports section and found most of the Hunting items are on clearance. They carry a line of packs and bags called Fieldline. This line has an accessory pouch that looks exactly like an AK47 Mag pouch. Though that for $5 how could I loose? Bought one took it home loaded it up and Wow. This holds 4 no problem and 5 if you want. I took photos
  6. Thanks for the good info! One question I have is that it looks like the upper part has molded vents. Is this correct? Does it look like a standard (maybe a Choate upper black plastic hand guard) upper hand guard would fit? I don't know about the steel front retainer. If so, consider this for $75 at Gilberts compaired to the price of the Tapco or modded adapter from Dinzag (not to knock Brian, he rocks!) Just compairing price and it would be all 922 compliant. Be pretty unique in looks as well. Frosty
  7. Have both, did buy a 20" .223 that would be the best rock chuck or close range prairie dog gun with the 10 round mag. In Montana most dog shots were good with Contenders in .223. (from 5 feet to 150 yards.) most long shots wind kills anyway. The 5 foot shot is a hoot! Shot many chucks with .44 mag. open sights, with a Scoped Contender they were soup. Then I would be safe from Zombies as well! (We need a Saiga Hunting section)
  8. Thanks for the good info. It's sad when all I do at a gun show is walk out with grip nuts, screws and FCG kits.
  9. Ya, but check out that Krink! spendy but pretty complete
  10. Try Sportsmans guide. They sometimes have em on sale. check here: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/browse/...?c=75&s=139
  11. Do share :big'allears': So far this thread has yet to produce one single actual 'reason' why these stocks 'suck'. If I made a titanium stock and sold it for $500 would you be happy? The Tapco is 'as advertised'. They don't say it's made of gold, and it ain't made of gold. What exactly is a 'bad experience'? Is that when you get a bruise from recoil after a long day of shooting? What do you mean they don't fire, mine functions fine with the Tapco stock folded. It is tough to get to the safety lever. But everything else works fine. Frosty I've not had one break, an
  12. My local dealer said the next shippment from RA will be higer priced. He was not sure but thought he'd have to sell for $479.00 - 7.62x39 16" standard stock. He was told the price from Russia is much higher. As these are 2008 rifles the last batch was from 2006 and early 2007. At the time the dollar was weak, inflation up, raw materials throught the roof and fuel and energy up. No election issue. Man times have changed! "Now is not the time for doubt" Frosty
  13. If this is the only way we can get the news we want to hear. I'm all ears! Thanks for a ray of hope in my dark world. "Now is not the time for doubt". Frosty
  14. I was watching Court TV yesterday and they showed SWAT cops serving a warrant and they were using 12 gauge Saiga's.
  15. I agree it will not be repealed. Ever! I've been into firearms for over 40 years and I have never seen such a change of attitude with people in general. The only bright spot left is the Military. Most of them seem to have the get it done attitude. Every other group has been so beaten down people really are afraid to speak out, which is one of the nails in the coffin. The leftest, liberal has taken over every aspect of government to the point we can vote in anyone we want, it may not make a difference. This is the last chance to live with the freedom we have today. Everyone had better join
  16. Welcome a new convert to the fold. First conversion more to come. I sure learned alot. Went with Tapco folder, Grip, and FCG. Dicey on the stock. Figured I could always sell if banned (and If I don't like it). Every one will be different. Still waiting for Bullet Guide from Dinzag (he e-mailed today to say it shipped). Could only find double hook locally so I went with that, cut notch in bottom of reciever. Then read about grinding clearance on the second hook and don't have to cut sheet metal. That makes more sense. After the guide I'll do some shooting. "Now is not the t
  17. We shot cases of this stuff in the early 90's. It's OK. The Eastern Europe and Russian is better if you ask me. It's not surplus, but the same as Chinese mil spec. The hunting was cut ended FMJ's, not the best. I would not pay over $4 a box X 44 box's $176. Offer him $150 and don't go up to $170. ONLY IF IT'S CLEAN AND PERFECT! If there is any rust or crud I'd walk as well unless he wants to dump it cheap then you could sort thru it. Frosty to quote Tapco: "Now is not the time for doubt!"
  18. You are definitely not a prude, Sir - you absolutely want to remain compliant with all federal, State & local laws! You can add US-made parts to foreign mags to increase your parts count. I make my own (obviously US-made) floor plates and modify my own US-made Magpul followers for my Galil Orlites (links available). Two US-made parts. Getting your compliance parts count up by adding mag parts can be very easy & inexpensive. But you do not want to compromise your firearm by going with an unreliable ammunition feed system - which is what I have heard about Promag, unfortunately.
  19. K-Var has had them in the past. It looks like they are out of stock. Try to see if they will get more. Frosty
  20. I know a someone who has a wood stock .308 Saiga that what's to sell it. I can't afford it although he's holding it for me. It's in Minn. I will find out if it is the thumbhole stock. If there is any interest I'll try to get photo's. Thanks, Frosty (wife chewed ass after last gun show) I like what it says on the home page of Tapco: "Now is not the time to doubt"
  21. Tank, Are you using reloads or reman ammo? If you do not use a small base sizing die it will not work for semi-auto's. If this is the case please stop and try mil-spec ammo. If the chamber is clean, Arc may be right that the guide. Think about it, the bolt has a certain amount of play that will allow it to go into battery. If you add the cartridge it forces the bolt to index on the chamber. So it could very well be the guide. Good Luck. My Bullet guides are on order with Dinzag and my 7.62x39 is waiting. Will be done soon then it's .223 time. Thanks, Frosty
  22. I live near to SG and I have bought the promag from them. I feeds well in my .223
  23. Good photos. Have you checked the bolt you have securing the back of the relocated trigger guard? The silver looking thing just below the safety locking area. Are you Absolutely sure the safety or rear of the trigger assembly is not touching it? I installed my trigger guard last night and put the head of the trigger guard retaining screw inside of the Receiver. I did this to make sure I had no interfearance with the FCG. It just looks like the screw is sitting up a little to high. Good Luck
  24. I was thinking this was a bull pup nose or one of the new russian rifles see attached link. http://world.guns.ru/assault/as87-e.htm It is in 7.62x51MM Long shot I know. Thanks, Frosty
  25. I'm sorry for your loss and pray for the sorry soul that had no other choice than to end a life and inflict more pain and suffering. We always have more than one choice and at times make the wrong one. Many travel through the "heart of darkness", some never return. I can relate as the river is long and the current strong! Please accept my condolences. Frosty,
