  1. Remember the pistol grip doesn't count as a 922r part if the rifle didn't have one to begin with. If there are any questions about the parts just slap a new trigger group and find 1 or 2 more things to swap. It sure is better than going to prison because the dude who built the thing in the first place didn't give a shit about any laws.
  2. The only Saiga rifles that are illegal must be marked with Kalashnikov USA. They are banned by name, thus making them illegal. The EAA is perfectly legal to own and transfer in Cali. The thing about the DOJ in California is they have stupid laws that make no sense at all and they think we're gonna stand by and take it. Bullshit! If anybody needs info about Cali gun regulations don't bother with DOJ. Calguns.net will have the most up to date info and there are enough lawyers and "the right people" to get any issue ironed out. I think there was a thread about a EAA saiga somebody wanted
  3. First off don't grind anything. E mail Brian (Dinzag) and he'll send you a new bullet guide. There is some changes the Izmash did to some of the trunnions. The trunnions are a little deeper so the hole in old bullet guides need to be milled a little deeper so the head of the machine screw can sit down deep enough to clear the bolt as it spins into battery. I emailed Brian and he was strait up and promt with getting the new B.G. out to me. It may take a little longer now with his daughter taking up his time, but he'll make it right.
  4. The trigger group is easy. If you wanna keep the BHO then trim the hammer just like the one your taking out. If not then toss the thing. As for the gas piston, avoid it if possible. I did the piston on one of my conversions and it sucks balls to say the least. I drilled both sides and snapped 3 drill bits. Have you ever had to pull chunks of shatterd drill bit out of your hands? It sucks! After I got the thing drilled out I tried to spin the piston out.............with a vise and a pipe wrench. About the trigger group, if you have access to a bandsaw I would go with that. A dremel tool
  5. The problem is; you don't have 35M customers for firearms in Cali. You are in the minority. Thats exactly why Tony and I left. Best of luck to you for getting what you want; I know a lot of guys do. I don't think I am though. It's the how the district lines are drawn. Bob are you from SLO also? I know Tony is. I'll have my AK pistol dammit, fuck what people think! I had some bitch tell me "You don't need that"......Really? How would you know what I need? I tell you these people are insane in their thinking, but it's just 14-16 countys that are like that. If each count
  6. BobAsh yeah that shit ain't cheap. We have a guy in my town who makes AK furniture Ironwood designs. This gun will be manufactured in California so no bullshit needed. Now the pissed off FFL, the CFLC is pretty easy. You register ,get a #, print out a form, sign it, and ship everything. Now you stated handgun? Well we'll be getting that bullshit squared away shortly........trust me. We have been fighting the state and they're losing. They write the laws and we follow them. If someone want to buy a pistol just make sure it's on the list. What you can do is dealer to dealer transfer for LEO s
  7. OK so I want to chop one of my Saiga's down into a pistol. Has anybody done that? I'm gonna de mil and rebuild on a NDS1 or 3. Just need to verify my sanity. I'm in California and it's pretty tough to get AK kit's shipped here. I don't know why but I guess too many people don't like money or are obliviuos to the fact that it's legal. I'm shooting for a krink style look. Yes they are 100% legal in California so don't start that please. Just looking for advise and what parts will I need.
  8. I havn't bought 7.62X39 in a while. People were telling me I was nuts for buying up ammo when it was still under 15 cents a round. My best deal was 1320 rounds of Russian white box 122gn HP for 150$
  9. M series? What is that if I must ask? I try to be well versed on all of my tools.
  10. The half ass "conversion" is exactly that. Nalioth is 100% correct. I've found with my conversions that you lose about 4-6inchs of overall length (a good thing) and L.O.P. is shorter and for me at least the rifle pulls in very nicely. Mag changes and reloads under fire are sped up as well.(training helps 1000%) It's easier for me to keep my firing grip as I work the charging handle when everything is closer together. Go full conversion or go home!
  11. Try using the radd lock when bullets are whizzing by your skull.........MMG is the way to go for a CA legal battle rifle.
  12. Saiga "M"??? Pics and better discription please. Never heard of a Saiga M
  13. Flawed logic dude. If S.H.T.F. and all your buddys are running around with AK's. Your in a fight and you run dry, your buddy tosses you a mag................now since you fit YOUR MAGS to YOUR GUN your gonna dump his mag and reload the ammo into YOUR mag? Fuk that............nevermind we'll split your gear when your dead any way Fit the rifle to the mags
  14. The TAPCO piston works just fine. I would advise against it, in my case it was too much fukn hassle for the part, stick with the O.E. piston. The disconnector ain't shit and if your still short, run some U.S. componets in your mags. I have 2 converted rifles 1 has the TAPCO piston and 1 has the O.E. piston, they both run just fine.
  15. I was thinking of getting an AMD kit to build a pistol with. Need some info. Anyone try that before? They're 100% legal here in Cali. I talked to a couple of rangemasters around here.(San Jose) They tell me to bring em out!! Took my Saiga conversions out and got some funny looks. Ignorance is bliss.
  16. Go ahead and ship. You can ship a full blown conversion if you want, just take the pistol grip off and mail to whoever buys it. The laws are not that complicated if you have at least a 5th grade edumacashun. If your worried abot shipping to Cali follow this Calguns AW flowchart If that doesn't clear up any questions you can go to Calguns.net and check there.
  17. These are my Russian twin girls. 100% legal in California. The MMG is a pretty good trade off for the use of a detachable mag. Desert dog, you have some nice looking girls yourself.
  18. Is that a .308? sure looks like one from the trigger. Sound like hammer follow to me. Not sure how to fix but I would do a search, get that fixed it can cause your gun to go FA. It sounds cool but when you go to prison for a malfunctioning weapon it won't.
  19. Thats me out in the country. Central California can get real purdy this time of the year. Myself and some other Calguns.net members are gonna be heading back out there in a few weeks. After all this rain and snow it'll be real green. We were blowing the shit out of some stuff with Tannerite. I have my Russian twins, an AR and my trusty Glock 17 with 22 rd mags, yeah it's all legal.
  20. Tapco G2 FCG K-var butt stocks Tapco Galil hand guards Monster man grips Mags I got a long time ago, I don't remember where they're from Brownells aluma hyde finish on both guns These are my twins. Yes I am in California.......no I have not broken any laws.........yes these are 100% LEGAL............I don't hear the sky falling yet...........
  21. If gilberts won't ship directly use a middleman FFL Freakshow Manufacturing does it for 20$ +shipping and Henderson Defense will also. Where are you located in Cali? Dude if you need ANY info about how to get the good stuf here(Cali) check out Calguns.net Shit I think there is a few for sale on the boards right now.
  22. I would leave the mag catch alone. Just re-use the trigger guard or cut the mag catch off your new trigger guard. I would also drill and tap the bullet guide and go slowly. If your comfortable with bucking rivits than fuck what I just said. But I.M.O. it'll go easier if you use machine screws(small bolts) and lock tite. Spend the money and get the cobolt drill bits, and go slowly with everything, don't rush the job. If you don't have a dremel, get one. If you want to refinish do it when the rifle is in pieces. When drilling the trigger pins out, try not to get into the receiver. Use a vi
  23. Do you have a cordless drill and a good set of drill bits? That a set of punches, a small hammer and a multi tool are just about all you'll need. maybe 5 hrs for the first one.
  24. I went shooting yesterday(1/31/09) with a few Calgunners out at Panoche BLM area.(central Cali) and we were hitting a 2ftX4ft target board at 400yrds offhand with the factory irons. Personally I would go with some hi viz front and a MOJO or the krebs peep sight and you should be G.T.G.
  25. Where? The Krylon fusion works pretty good. Rough the surface with 400 grit sand paper and wipe down with paint thinner and let dry. What helped me also was to heat the parts with a blow dryer and between coats. 3-4 light coats is better than 1 heavy coat. I got the Krylon at Kragen's auto supply.
