  1. Remember when the saiga in 308 was only $289 and the saiga in 223 was only $259 thats when i purchased all of mine. I knew the prices weren't going to stay that way once they caught on. Now i wished i purchased more... The biggest improvement you can make with your saiga is to lube it up with moly. The saiga is a different gun when its lubed with moly. It will cycle faster and smoother too besides putting some on the trigger sear too. I put moly on the bolt carrier/bolt, gas piston/tube, the recoil spring and inside the receiver. Then work the bolt carrier by hand about 50 to 100 t
  2. I purchased the 16" barreled 308 saiga first and went after the 21.5" barreled 308 saiga next when i see it in the rack. I figured the longer barrel would be for longer distance shots. I haven't shot the 21.5" barrel yet we been to busy hammering the saiga in 308 with the 16" barrel. My 21.5" barreled saiga has the same black stock as my 16"/308 does too. I got these on the first importation.
  3. I was thinking about buying a new M1a when i found the saiga in 308 for $307 OTD a few years back. Me and my son took it to the range using south african 308 ball ammo benchrested at 100yds we both shot 1 1/2" groups back to back with it. The saiga is my very first ak style sheetmetal stamped gun and it really surprised me with its accuracy. I went after the saiga in 223 next. I felt really bad only spending about $550 for both guns and the m1a was $1,200 for one gun so i purchased a few more saiga's to make the dollar amount right. Yup i got 5 saiga's for $1,200. One i found was used with
  4. Thats decent shooting for any rifle and some of the rifles that cost 4 times what a saiga costs can't shoot that good. Some modern gun manufacturers say that 2" groups are acceptable.
  5. Put me down for two saiga's in 7,62x54r if there like my 16" barreled 308. The orginal point of having a saiga in 7,62x54r is the cheap ammo. Well it was cheaper for a longtime. I hope they make it here before Oslama realizes there here. If he gets in......
  6. Thanks to Elmer Keith the godfather of handgun hunting the 357mag and 44mag has killed every north american game. I have both the 357mg and the 44mg. I was carring both in bear country at times before i purchased my 338winmag. after that i no longer need a handgun too. I reload my 38 special with semi wad cutters and my 44 special rounds with semi wad cutters too.(lead) We get a higher performance out of the shorter case with lead rounds. There a faster fpm in the shorter case over the longer cases. I save my 357mg and 44mg cases for jacketed bullets. As far as auto's go i like
  7. I benchrested my 308 saiga 16" barrel at 100yds shooting south african 308 ball ammo. I took turns with my son and we both shot 1 1/2" - 5 shot groups. Thats the saiga in its orginal condition and using the orginal sights. (no scope) This is also right out of the box accuracy. I'm sure i can tighten up the groups with reloads. But for using surplus ammo thats not bad grouping for an ak. I've been reloading using 147gr FMJ bullets, IMR 4895 powder and CCI #34 nato primers but i haven't tried them yet. I'll be taking 3 rifles to my hunting stand now for sure, my sks, my saiga 308 an
  8. I seen them in a local gun shop lastweek and they looked awesome. Its only the $800 price tag thats killing me. I could get two more saiga's for one VZ. I can shoot the 7,62x39 round in any of my sks's. I held off on getting an ar15 and an ak47 and the ak is banned here now. I'm kind of waiting for norinco USA to offer there M14.
  9. I purchased the 16" barrel first and went back after the 22" barrel next. I like the shorter 16" barrel but I wanted to own both.

  14. I'm getting 1 1/2" groups off the bench @ 100yds using south african 308 ball ammo too in my 16" barreld 308 saiga. I'm sure it will shoot better with reloads for sure. I just reloaded 6k of 308 FMJ using the 147gr military bullets with IMR4895 powder with the CCI 34 primers. All 6,000rds are exactly the same, I took my time in loading them. I haven't shot them yet and i can't wait to poke some results from my hard labor in the paper. With the increase in accuracy it will be all worth doing. I'm using LEE 308 dies that cost me $9 a few years back. I haven't had one problem with them
  15. I ordered in June and received nothing but my credit card was charged. I canceled my order today i'm tired of waiting. I just may buy a few 8rd orginal mags. UNPTER
  16. My saiga 16" barreled in 308 will shoot 1 1/2" groups @ 100yds benchrested with south african 308 ball ammo. My saiga in 223 using russian wolf ammo seems to shoot the same sized groups but we haven't benchrested it yet I'm pinging small rocks on the berm @ 100yds and testing the cycling and functioning of the rifle. On paper hand held just playing i'm under 3" groups so i'm sure it will shoot the same groups as my 308 does too. You can't compare these to the other black rifles because these function and cycle correctly and have the reliability and dependability of an AK47 which they are
  17. Just adding the moly and letting it wear in is a very big difference over the stock trigger. I added moly to my bolt carrier, bolt, gas piston rod and tube, trigger sear, and the reciever rails and the saiga is a whole different gun. The moly smooths everything out, it cycles faster and smoother too.
  18. Aim is offering the CZ82 in 9mm mak(9x18) as a C&R now for $199. The BATF changed the status of it to a C&R. I don't know why or how but its ok with me i'm going to get a few.
  19. Nanuk; I'd wait till it gets warmer and sight it in at 100yds and it may surprise you. All of my saiga's are very accurate more accurate than any other semi auto rifles in 308 and in 223. Shoot it at 100yds. Just have a front sight tool handy I did notice my 223 saiga needed to be brought up at 100yds it shoots dead center(R&L) but it was shooting low.
  20. You can smooth out the trigger by putting some moly on the sear. I do up all my guns with moly, inside the receivers, bolt carrier/bolt, on the gas piston/tube and the recoil springs too besides the trigger sear. The saiga is a whole different gun after lubing it up with moly it cycles faster and smoother and the trigger is awesome too and it gets better as it works in more too. When i first moly the gun up it seems tight so i work the slide(bolt carrier/bolt) around 50 to 100 times cycling it by hand then its ready to shoot. Do up the rotating bolt too. You have to try this stuff trust me
  21. I think at some farther distance the longer barrel has to be a tad more accurate over the shorter barrel. I enjoy the 16" barrels because its like carrying a sks but she shoots 223 or 308.
  22. I just ordered "1" new 20rd mag and i wonder how long its going to take to get it? I have a feeling this is going to be habit forming too with many more comming soon too. I'm going to test fire them to besure they function and put them away for a rainy day if ya know what i mean.
  23. I would love to have a Saiga in 338win.mag. right now the 338win.mag. in a 700 rem. is my bear gun. I love this round with its 4,000ft.lbs @ the muzzle and its 2,800 ft.lbs @ 200yds thats the muzzle energy of a 30-06 at 200yds and call it what you want its a freight train or a truck but it gets the job done for sure. Yup a saiga in 338win.mag, a saiga in 300win.mag and maybe a saiga in 375 H&H too.
  24. Yup I now own a Star BM in 9mm, a Star B in 9mm and a Star A in 9mm largo too. These can be habit forming too.
  25. I been so happy with my saiga's in 308win when i seen the saiga in 223rem i got them too. I stayed away from the other expensive black rifle in 223 but at the sametime i was never fond of or even wanted a rifle in 223rem. As I seen the price of wolf ammo so affordable($95/1,000rds) i deceided to go for some saiga's in 223rem too. Thinking ahead I purchased many cases of wolf 223 ammo too while it was affordable. When the shortage and higher priced 7,62x39 just happened we switched to plinking with the saiga in 223 to save the 7,62x39 ammo i had stocked up on. I shot an M14 a while ba
