  1. Ha! I hadn't looked at it like that before. Here is the original screenshot from Metalocalypse that I based it on. Obviously after being hand-sketched, resized, transferred to the horn, and redrawn again with a relatively unfamiliar tool, he went through some cosmetic changes when compared to the original. I still like it. When researching this project, I read that some people do leave the horn as is, some use a food-safe polyurethane, and most other people use beeswax. I started with the polyurethane, but then decided that I didn't feel comfortable drinking out of it even though it i
  2. I use Hoppe's with my boresnake, and for general lubrication I use RemOil CLP. I don't have a preference, that's just what the store had at the time.
  3. Very nice looking rifle, micah! I don't believe I have ever seen a 7.62 magazine in bakelite before! (Or whatever that is...looks awesome regardless)
  4. You forgot two things: A Nagant Revolver, and Another Mosin Nagant
  5. Thanks for the advice, bro! I'm actually looking into getting my C&R. Looks alot simpler than I thought to get things going. There's a linky-dink on surplusrifle.com about getting an 03 FFL. Looks like I have to go to the BATFE local office to get the request form(?) to start the process. Process takes about 6 weeks, right? If you can go to the physical ATF office to get the forms, that would be much quicker. 6 weeks is a VERY optimistic estimate. Mine took like 2.5 months to process AFTER I waited many weeks for them to mail me the forms. Having the license is nice, but if you
  6. Here it is. Sorry, 56k'ers. (Does anyone use dial up anymore?) So...obviously I fucked up the metalwork. The original finish was like a mirror, but I went at it with some 1200 grit wet dry and gave it a 'brushed' look so minor flaws and scratches (existing and future) would be less noticeable. Also it looks kind of weathered, beat up and 'antique-y', which is my way of copping out after doing such a horrible job shaping the pieces. I will likely sand it some more to get the 'brushing' more even...there are a few small spots I didn't get so well. Miscellaneous fails include
  7. Get yer C&R license and have it delivered straight to your front door!
  8. Liquid Paper sounds like it would be easiest. I used a silver leafing pen, but the excess was very annoying to clean away.
  9. Finally got to start working on this yesterday. I'm waiting for the epoxy on the rim and terminal to cure now. My thoughts so far: - 20 gauge is a nice, rather workable thickness for the rim, but is a total PITA to shape the terminal with metal that thick. Next time I will go with a thinner sheet. - I'll consider using pewter wire to make a coiled rim and terminal next time...it would be FAR easier and would still look neat. - Thanks, Waffen, for the tip about brazing the rim together before I try to epoxy it on. I will be sure to pull my head out of my ass and listen next time. - M
  10. +1 Because they damn sure arent worth eating! lol Or listening to... Took the words right out of my mouth. scatter: If you want weaponized capsaicin, just use pepper spray IMO. Although speaking from my experience of being sprayed, it might be more humane to just shoot to kill.
  11. I was looking at the CZ75 as a carry gun...what don't you like about it, Arik? Too heavy?
  12. Not cool that someone tried to burgle you, but cool that your system worked. I wonder how sensitive it is though...could it have been a raccoon or cat or something?
  13. In Coronado, where I was stationed for a time, the cops had brand new mustang cruisers, standard. http://www.policecarmodels.com/gr1cocapofom.html The red and blue lights are actually part of the head and tail lights, it's pretty sweet. Edit: Here's a short video of one with the lights on. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&VideoID=49973354
  14. It's hard to make judgment calls on this when I don't even have any idea what the kid did.
  15. Neither of those people were very good rhetoricians. "Does it really have to be an AK-47??" There's actually a dealer around here that gives a free hunting rifle or shotgun with a truck purchase. Kind of reminded me of the Family Guy where they were in Texas.
  16. Agreed. The premise alone would provide me with nitpicky quibbling material for days if I was inclined, but I am not. I like New River's argument.
  17. I punched in "tactical " to Google to see what search suggestions would come up. Tactical Nuclear Penguin got a chuckle out of me.
  18. Haven't seen Apoc guy, but I liked Survivor Man before Les Stroud got fed up with having to compete with Bear and his support team. Honestly, I can see why he was losing ratings (educational show vs. entertainment, the latter will win every time), but IMO Man vs. Wild is not much better than watching that kid on the playground who got paid a quarter to eat worms. Also Bear is a vegan when he isn't doing his show, so I have that against him too.
  19. If you haven't bought the T6 yet, don't. Just get the real conversion parts. If you already have it on your gun...like the others said, you can re-use the stock and maybe the grip if you are determined and you find a bolt that will fit right. Regular AK grip bolts won't do it.
  20. PSLs are secksy, and .308 ammo is pricey. Unless you favor customization heavily, my vote is PSL.
  21. My XD does that too, but I've just been ignoring it since I don't usually eject full mags. I wonder what Glock did to fix yours.
