  1. I've got some on back-order from midway right now.. but the date keeps getting pushed back every time it gets here.
  2. Sniper rifles do have a sporting purpose because everyone I know who hunts big game uses a scoped rifle. They dont need a sporting purpose because the bore dia is smaller than .50 That right there is the most intelligent sentence in this thread. All you self proclaimed bad-asses that put those stupid videos on youtube are doing more harm then you can imagine. If you think that the government doesn't view those videos, your sadly mistaken. Posting vids on youtube is stupid but wont effect what the ATF does. They enforce the rules, the bills passed by the ho
  3. The 00 Buck performs pretty well in my S-12 for routine blasting and having fun. Also.. I highly recommend the Rio Armored Slugs. It's a pointed, steel core, penetrator slug.. super badass. Those are a lot of fun.
  4. I wish I'd seen that one when you posted it. I've been trying to get my hands on a .308 for some time now. I'm actually not far from you.
  5. I like it.. I think it's cool to see some different stuff.
  6. I'd get both. The Remington is a good, high quality round, and will be more accurate. I'd get some of that and hold on to it for hunting... etc. I would get the brown bear to use as my target round. There's no reason to send a bunch of expensive remington downrange to punch paper, other than a few rounds for sight-in purposes, unless you are just a very wealthy individual. Keep in mind what grain of ammo you sight in for though. If you sight in for 150 grain and then switch to 175, your point of impact will not be the same. Are you using an optic or irons? Check around the
  7. I keep a pistol gripped Mossberg 500 beside the bed for home protection.. 5 rounds of 00 buck in the tube. It's a fair compromise between being compact and powerful, and pretty easy to hit what you're shooting at indoor distances. For a handgun.. something in .45. I'd go Glock
  8. +1 for great info. Thanks for clarifying everything for us. But, for real... they are all just "basic semi auto". Autoloading does not mean fully automatic. So.. if you have a 7.62x39, it's probably an IZ-132. Your best hustle is to check out the Saiga 7.62 x 39 section and read up on the conversion threads. There are a lot of things you can do to the rifle to improve function & ergonomics, or to make "them look like the regular AK"... etc, but I would recommend doing a lot of reading before trying any of it.
  9. I was considering it.. but I'm just going to wait till they manufacture the mags and put the "do it yourself" kits back on sale for $25 each. If they don't do that, then I doubt I will be buying anymore. Just can't justify paying more than $25 each for them now.
  10. Huge +1.. That is a great book. I love classic eastern military literature & philosophy. I'm sure you've read "The Art of War" as well. If not, it's a good read also.
  11. I'd love to see them both lose.. but I want shitsburg to lose more. Neither of those teams belong in that fine stadium. The snow and ice was a sign from God that they shouldn't be playing there.
  12. It's only meant to use 2 screws. The reason there are 4 holes in the adapter is for those that want to mount the stock a little lower. If you're using the folding mech, you have a wider range of adjustment since you can move it up or down. If you're mounting a stock straight to the internal adapter you either have to go with the top or bottom set of holes.
  13. I had that same setup on my x39 and it was good. I still have the adapter/tube, but changed out the stock for a Magpul MOE. The setup works just fine for me. I didn't have to chop off the tang, and I can give myself an extra click of LOP when I shoot prone, which was why I went with the adjustable stock in the first place.
  14. As of today, Mubarak's goons have been policing the streets for reporters, and generally trying to remove any news media presence in the city. It looks like he is trying to get the media out of there in order to escalate the violence against the citizens and try to end this... but he doesn't want this to be seen internationally.
  15. I used the Alumahyde 2 on my s-12.. I think it was the Stainless Steel color, and used Alumahyde Matte Topcoat. I don't really think it is much different than high temp engine enamel. It does just fine for my purposes, and when it gets too beat up, I'll just detail strip it and paint it again.. no big deal. I didn't really want to spend $30 or $40 or more on a coating I wasn't sure about.. and Alumahyde is like $8 a can, so I figured I'd try it. It's actually a little lighter than I wanted. I think Snow Grey Duracoat was the exact color I wanted. I think it's pretty durable, and it takes a
  16. I'd prob do about 40 or 50 and call it a day.
  17. I believe that technically, by law, you aren't supposed to cut the barrel to under 18" without paperwork. Even if you plan to immediately thread and permanently attach a brake to bring it to 18". What happens is that you are in possession of an unregistered SBS during the period of time that you do not have the brake attached... IIRC. If you want to do this yourself.. your best option is to remove the barrel first so that it is not part of the firearm, and then the receiver should be at another location while the work is being done. I'm not an expert on the law, but I believe this is
  18. I've got the bottom one also (non push button) and decided to mount it so that the stock folds to the left side of the receiver. That actually enables me to keep my hand on the pistol grip and push up on the folding mechanism with that thumb in order disengage the mechanism to fold the stock. Pretty much operates like the amd 65 stock, but without the push button method. I get a very small amount of wobble when it's locked though. My primary gripe with the non push button system is that it unfolds much too easily. I've heard that the push button requires you to push the butto
  19. Mine cycles anything just fine. Pretty much any light load. She now cycles cheapo Rio Royal Buckshot as well.. but didn't pre-conversion for some reason. Use setting #2 for your low powered loads.. birdshot.. etc. Use #1 for anything else.
  20. from the article... "But in the next two weeks, the White House will unveil a new gun-control effort in which it will urge Congress to strengthen current laws, which now allow some mentally unstable people, such as alleged Arizona shooter Jared Loughner, to obtain certain assault weapons, in some cases without even a background check." Isn't that wording nice??? They're pretty much saying that he used an "assault weapon" in the crime, and just walked in a gun shop and bought a pistol like groceries. I'm so tired of biased media... Fucking morons.
  21. AGREED 100%. Let's show some pictures of game we've taken with the S-12. Hell, even birds. I know people have the 2 rounders for a reason! Another thing. HOW ABOUT TAKE YOUR DRUM/MAG DUMP & BUMPFIRE VIDEOS DOWN OFF YOUTUBE! Replace them with videos of clay shooting and 3 gun... whatever. We need to show the sporting side of our shotguns.
  22. Yeah, I've been looking for a 5.45, because FFL transfer fees here are $50+ so I'd be better off buying local anyway, including tax. Same here... nobody around here does FFL transfers affordably. They're all in the range of $50 to $65.. so I'm better off paying $20 or $30 more than the going rate for the rifle itself if I can find one anywhere.
  23. Can't import the gun itself. I think the magwells can be obtained though.. if I'm not mistaken. And the Russian mags for the magwell cost a fortune. I don't believe the LRBHO can be obtained by itself as a standalone part. edit: I fucking want that S-12!!!!
  24. Definitely worth converting. It will become a whole new rifle once you do it.
  25. I did some polishing to my trigger group, to smooth it out a little. Just did a trigger job basically. Mirror polish where my hook contacts the hammer's ear.. those 2 surfaces. I did knock the paint off the face of the hammer and mirror polish that too.. no re-contouring.. just smoothed it. I just did that because I was bored though. My trigger is butter smooth now.. It still has the typical over-travel of the G2. I'm thinking of getting a double hook and modding that to give it a proper travel. I wouldn't really consider any of it necessary, and I prob wouldn't touch the bottom of the ca
