I got the Hogue grip today... with the tromix DIY trigger guard there is alot of shaving that needs to be done to get it to fit... and since I have a history of ruining furniture doing this, Im sending it to an expert.

The serial numbers dont seem to mean much. I was looking at another post regarding the serial numbers and how many ports they have. There seems to be very little correlation, if any. Basically if you have two ports and it doesnt cycle 1300fps shot, send it to RAAC for warranty repair.

What is the best ammo? Something that cycles in your gun. seriously trial and error, stay away from winchester universal, and for starters go with something that flies 1300 feet per second (fps)

I converted mine even though it doesnt cycle that winchester wal-mart crappy jumbo box. Im sure it eventually will. I mean, I have three ports. Thats good enough. Matter of fact. Im going to spend tonight doing laundry and a little more thorough sanding. After that, Im sure the problems I thought I had cycling cheap ammo not intended for the gun in the first stupid place, will be long gone, or long forgotten. That being said, if your gun has only 2 ports or has more but some ports don't go all the way through the barrel, for the love of Christ, send it to RAAC BEFORE converting

Afaik no "newer" production S-12's, (made in 4th quarter '08 or later), have 4 ports, they instead have 3 larger ports, which work just fine. Also, all recently produced S-12's have BHO's. To BolivianAK: The main thing to check is to make sure that you have at least 3 unobstructed gas ports. The best way to do that is to remove the gas plug, as justin suggested, look to see how many ports your barrel has, and then pass the end of a dental pick or similar tool, (a bent paperclip will do ), as Corbin suggested, through the ports and down into the barrel, (visually checking as you do so),

I dont know the specs of this gun. If someone could enlighten me and point me in the right directions so that I could learn more about it that would be great. Looked all over the site but turned up empty. I also want to get that fore-end and buttstock so if someone knows of a place like rusmilitary that might have the parts please let me know. Thanks.

Stay away from the Wal Mart winchester 100 pack. despite a polished bolt and feeding ramp, I have a 90% FTE with those pieces of crap.

Thanks for the input guys. I do plan on reloading the silverbear or something similar. I keep the bolt open now. I have a BHO on my gun but Im not sure what it does to the life of the spring.

I have a UTG rail on my M4 and its pretty nice... its no daniel defense.. but its a nice rail.

This ammo is made by Silver Bear. I dont know how good it is or anything. However, in theory, if the whole casing is made of metal and you load the first shot with this silver bear ammo, you should be able to keep the bolt closed indefinately and at the ready without squishing the round and risking a feed failure. Any thoughts?
