  1. choose for what? Duty carry, conceal, recreational shooting, a hypothetical doomsday scenario?... I would like one of each. I actually bought the 9mm first. So my vote here matched the wallet voting I did in the real world. I can afford to shoot it. I have a crappy carbine in 9mm too. Wish I had picked up ruger's when they sold 'em. It's a fun plinker despite failing every test of quality except reliability. For a duty gun, prolly .40. For concealed carry, I might lean towards the .45. For my likely next handgun purchase? .357 large frame S&W. I like how it feels and the load is abo
  2. no, but as a resident, I seriously hope that you are a chicken little. I worry that you are not. Especially since I don't own any proper assault rifles.
  3. Yeah. the mag release extension or a home job would help a lot.
  4. Speaking as an owner, there are only 3 reasons that I can think of to take it off. 1) for the debatable advantage of an MD 20.(fast mag changes = more firepower without the bulk of the drum. while having a nicer to carry gun.) 2) to install another promised but still unavailable magwell that will accept the promised md doublestacks. (apparently it is supposed to work with the drum too.) 3) you are moving to cali, and you are selling the magwell to someone who can use it. It is so much better, you will never consider switching back. Unless you feel that somehow having a
  5. I think that with the AGP you have to add material to the surefires. He tuned it for smoothest reliability and speed with one brand or the other rather than so-so fit all around.
  6. That is kind of my thinking too. I currently have a 10 shot with 2 15 pellet 00 buck followed my 3" #4 buck loads the rest of the way. I couldn't think of a normal home defense situation where I would fire more than 3. Then I did think. The thing is I have maybe booked in about 30 people for driveby shootings in the last 6 months. Now my thinking is to have a mag ready to go that is loaded for car. (a bit bigger than for bear.) I am considering getting something like dixie triball,000 buck or a bunch of magnum slugs. I want to be able to punch through that door or firewall and all the gang ba
  7. I like that you had a nataliedee.com picture handy tac 47!
  8. Oh, and I would say that the magwell would be a lot better with an extended release. The flared lip of the magwell gets in the way of quickly hitting the release with your new mag in an AK drill. I just don't see buying one when it would be so very easy to weld, screw or rivet any scrap of metal onto the existing one. If you can't weld you must have at least one friend who can spare 2 minutes. just cut out a little piece of steel, and if you want fold a tab on it like some do, and mask the gun from stray splatter, and it should be ready in about 10 seconds of welding and a couple of minut
  9. I like my surefire magwell, but I only have surefires. I have no problems with them and Travers thinks they are more reliable. I found them cheaper, and they have more choices about size. If you are using it for competition you can get the clear surefire 12 rounders, and I am not sure if you can still get clear AGP's anywhere. I am guessing either would be fine if all you want is 10 shots at a time. Or you have a bunch of one or the other. Re: the drum, I think this is really better than a drum at this point anyway. a magwell +3 12 shot surefires is comparable money to a drum, and has
  10. cool. Ima put some JB on my Keep Khooting 5 shot to build the back up to surefire dimensions, so I can use it too. I might go through the rest of them and add width to reduce side to side play too.
  11. good luck. And thanks armored for those suggestions. I will do that stuff as I fit the rest of my mags.
  12. Juice-- If they were in direct competition with his drums, it would make good business sense, because he would sell a ton of them. Every guy who wants the most ridiculous possible shotgun but can't justify $280 would happily pay 60. and those add up to a lot more than the few who can pay about 300. The people willing to pay $280 chose to do so over paying a hundredish for 2 surefires or AGP's(or bought all of the above) If they are willing to pay that much, the still will be to get what they want. That's every serious user, and every guy who gets it for his first accessory. Think. anyone w
  13. I looked at that winchester 1895 12guage lever gun too. browning designed, chinese made, 2.75 only and so fugly you have to love it.It is just so different, and i like lever strokes over pump any day. If it were $350 instead of $575 I would get one. The one at the local shop had some chinese fringed suede crap on the lever that was supposed to make it look 'indian' but mostly looked cheap... I would cut that junk off as fast as I could get the thing home, or maybe in the car on the way. I wish I could get one and a modernized colt's revolving shotty to match.
  14. They are beautiful. Super big bore stainless, compact.... want... (cosmetic engraving if that's your thing) Those always seemed like exactly my idea of a modern lever gun, and a great boat gun. Plus broken down it would fit under most car seats. I have been trying to remember the name of them for a couple of years now. That and an old fashioned lever gun.
  15. Yes they are reliable. Their floorplates attach differently, and they have a smoother finish, but they look and perform identically. Sure if you are looking to tell them apart it isn't hard, but the shape and feel is so close it doesn't matter. I totally agree with you about looks too. I made a plug for mine, so that I can save a buck, and because it looks cooler as a hunting mag, and gives you something to grab when you insert it. Mine functions flawlessly, but it won't work with my new magwell.(nor will the IZZy) So it is surefires for me until I find the time to play with a little e
  16. A lot of the time they get used in a physical force situation where you are talking about losing teeth or breaking arms and noses. You have 1 problem guy and 4 cops who could beat the crap out of him and maybe get beat up themselves. It isn't really a question of who will win most of the time, but how bad everyone gets hurt. Doing a compliance hold on a guy that really wants to fight can be a broken thumb for him if he resists a lot. it doesn't happen on purpose, but it happens. a taser would have left that guy in better shape. (although maybe missing a life lesson) He gets a shock and no one
  17. Well, a real issue for current dart Tasers is just a thick vest. If the probes don't reach you, they don't do much. also at about 20 ' the current generation of pistol shaped Taser can have a spread of about 3' between the probes. that is less than great. Re the tin foil, I know that the guys who do the training courses at work make the standard FBI cardboard head and torso silhouette and cover it with tinfoil. It gets some scorch marks around the holes from the probes. And my sergeant says she got a scar on her butt from one of them too. Ok GeorgiaPD, that is interesting info. That
  18. to me the real liability and risk is not the device itself resulting in a death, but accidentally mixing a regular shotshell in a urgent situation. Or the opposite, getting shot because you grabbed a taser round when you needed a slug. I know that is true for any less lethal round, but it is still a real concern. I like the idea of the orange saiga for only things like this, possibly optimized for reduced recoil stuff. Only bring it out to tase the one guy who is going too far in a riot type situations when you have a real ammo gun ready for back up, and another in your buddy's hands. The

    AMMO ?

Yes, and make sure The plug is screwed all the way in and then back it out to the closest #1 or #2 from snug. Haven't tried the Remington, but the federal works great. It is dirty running, and smells more of sulfur than the winchester, but it runs perftectly and the shells seem better. Mine FTE'd a lot with the Winchester prior to buying a KA tappet, and now runs maybe around than 29/30 of the winchester. Not much of an issue though, since I don't buy the Winchester anymore. If mine was 100% with the winchester bulk, I might buy it due to smell and quicker cleanup. Just buy federal until i
