Post-Apocalyptic. No I don't do 3 gun, but I would love to. I did some searching and can't find anything like that in my area. There are a couple of places a few hundred miles away that charge about the cost of a decent gun for a day of play. As it is I would need to buy 2 guns, the ammo, the magazines, the pouches, and develop the skills first, not to mention the time and money. It is on my someday list. That said, I really admire some of the one-of-a-kind guns people build for those, and would like to make my own a bit at a time. I love how their guns are set up so specifically to achi

Ok, I don't really need much convincing. I just thought putting it that way might get a bit more interesting responses and clever options for a unique stock setup. I don't really have anyone in my area with anything like an s12 other than me that I know. I did once see a guy with one that was apparently converted by some shop in Oregon. Looked nice, and had what appeared to be a AGP style JT magwell, removed side rail, and a nice dura-coat job. The guy just bought it on a whim, and didn't even know how to operate it. He was bragging about the buy to his friend, who had just bought two tactico

Corbin -- is the russian 103 style their non-export version that disables the trigger when folded? Or is it something commonly available? I have seen the old import style CAA side folder that was intended for the unconverted trigger group. It was ugly and utilitarian enough to like, but If that is the 103, I think I would rather do it right. maybe I am stuck with the ace.

I don't mind grinding myself. I've done plenty of that kind of thing. I was debating whether I would be happier with the adjustable Red Star trigger group, or with polishing up a Tapco g2. I like very short travel and light triggers.

thanks, guys especially azrial, since he actually mentioned a brand. I will be looking up the falcon stock or hinge after work. I didn't reply sooner, because I didn't get any subscription alerts, so I hadn't realized you guys had actually responded. sorry. To be honest, you don't so much need to convince me that a conversion is better, more which parts I should buy. I would rather have my own custom side folder than tromix, etc. more for personality than price, although $170 for a 12" aluminum triangle is hard to justify. I just wanted to find a good hinge that cost less than the ace. al
  7. I prefer the pre-rail style too. If you want a rail, it is a good selling point for taurus. To me though, it should come tapped for an included rail, but not milled on. That way you can have a clean gun with the option of a rail. Everyone is happy, and the thing might actually be easier to make. On a side note, I spent $17 to order a spare rt side safety for mine, so I could do the mod I wanted without worrying about warranty issues. a small cut on the safety for clearance and tracing the factory grip onto the L.G. = what the gun needed in about 20 minutes of work. I am sure someone else
  8. I like how my s12 is set up now, but I know full well that I eventually either want to do the full conversion on this one or leave this one as is and get a second to trick out. For me it is not worth it to buy retail parts and make something just like in all of the other picture threads. They are nice, but i would rather make it mine. Also I am a tightwad trying to catch my finances up after a few months of joblessness. The cheaper the core parts, the sooner I can make this happen. How can you talk me into it? 1)Recommend a quality inexpensive folding mechanism. It doesn't have to
  9. I am impressed. makes me think that machining cost is a bit inflated.
  10. Sounds downright dangerous. You better send them to me so I can safety test them for you.
  11. very cool. are you trying this just for fun or are you trying to develop a marketable product?
  12. + 100 Either one looks like a good product. I have a us made POSP to weaver rail with UTG rings on my russian gun. All 3 are well made. If I had to buy one I would get the chaos after he comes out with the long top rail option. I expect his to be lighter, and better looking and I would prefer it to be a compliance part. I have a UTG laser mount block that just has way to much unnecessary metal, It weighs a ton. I can't imagine a foot long version of that improving the handling on my gun. However the included covers are a real selling point to me. weaver rails just aren't nice to hold
  13. You don't need a tool. I don't. I switched back and forth between mine with the supplied flush fit full choke and the stock ring (when using slugs), and that only took a few seconds. just leave the choke in the adapter and thread the adapter on and off. It will stay put with a good hand snug. The knurling is pretty grippy. Admittedly it would take longer than the poly choke to switch between one choke and another, but you can get a lot more options with the adapter, including rifled chokes for the slugs. It would be cool if it took winchokes and looked like that one on gunbroker. I will pr
  14. looks good. You might try going to a truck accessory place and having them spray rhino liner on the grip. For all I know they sell rhino liner touch up size packages too. That has to have a fairly similar look and feel if you mask it off carefully first and then do a neat job of trimming it with a razor.
  15. I think my friend may want that b/c he is putting together a couple of old uniforms. He has a WWI army GI uniform minus the boots and access to a WWII ditto. It won't work for this project but thanks. The price definitely works too. Bob Ash- Galco was so far the best looking thing I had found for myself, and I was hoping to find a cheap lookalike too for the people who will mostly use it as a prop. I am lookin up the other one right now. Thanks guys.
  16. Some of my freinds and I want to get some decent gun leather. While we may get several sets, this particular buy needs to emphasize the look of the 1920s. I have found a couple of shoulder and belt rigs that looked ok, but I am betting that there are people who know better. A couple of the people are probably willing to spend over $150 for something to use regularly and then some of the others would only use them occasionally as props and would be happy with anything that looked right. so Cheaper is much better for them. I know good leather costs good money, but I would love to see wha
  17. AK builder winchoke adapter as sold here by cobra. I like mine. If I were irresponsable or rich, I would go for the dreadnought midbarrel comp in a heartbeat to add to my winchoke adapter. That has to be the coolest way to spend money I have seen here.
  18. cool. I was wanting to start reloading those for buck and slug, since I make a lot of them. Problem is that I can't seem to find any of the reloading stuff and I am afraid dad might have sold it.
  19. I actually had a similar issue to the O.P the last time I cleaned mine. Mine is a very tight fit with either the oem or the KA. I have been very pleased with the KA and the better cycling it gave me so far. until trying to remove it last time. I used Break free clp liberally and gave it time to soak. It took quite a lot of palm strikes and a damaged cleaning rod to get the thing out. I was frankly concerned that I was damaging either the tappet or the threads. The gun wasn't all that dirty either. My impression was that the sharpest edge of the concave side had flared out a little and was ha
  20. A magwell compatible doublestack in any size bigger than 8 appeals. My understanding is that rims make that too tricky to be a reality. For something that really could exist in the near future, why not a 20 round drum by md that lets you use the full capablilties of an s12? I mean an MD20Magnum which could 3" magnums, or the short stuff? That seems like something that he could make and to me it is hard to justify a $200+ magazine that won't let me shoot the full size stuff. One of the primary appeals of my gun is that I don't have to decide between power and shot count. I can affor
  21. 1651 This is about the only way I will ever be able to afford your cool product. Thanks.
  22. I know that sabots typically perform better with fully rifled, but is that true for just the last few inches? I am mostly pleased with what I am doing with fosters and the thread protector, I understand that rifled chokes should give some improvement for those as well, as well as making the solid lead non-saboted slugs such as the lee molds make practical. I just like the idea of a massive hunk of full bore lead that I can afford to shoot. If the sabot slugs were cheap and bore diameter, I would be more interested. I want something that I can afford to practice with. I will post my results
  23. I just got the choke tube adapter made by AK builder and sold here by cobra 76two. It is pretty good, and I am pleased with it. One of my specific purposes in buying it was the ability to use screw in win-choke type rifled chokes, AKA paradox chokes. Maybe the improvement isn't that great, but I just want to try them out. I would love to get a fully rifled barrel from KA and have a high volume ultrabore safari cannon, but I would need a second or 3rd saiga for that, and that isn't happening soon. This however I can manage, and I kind of like the idea of a versatile gun, and Individual sp
  24. Having a spouse who likes the things you like must be pretty cool. Most of they guys who read your post wre probably alternating between saying "I wish My wife was like that, and thinking up insults about the word tacticool. There is a bunch of anti tacticool stodginess here, some for a good reason, and some just to be cranky. The what do you guys do for the situation most of the people here have? They want to buy every cool toy and their wives get to be the boring responsible one and say, no more guns untill we can buy diapers... You guys must be the brokest ever!
