Saiga firing pin for a 7.62x39 can a ak74 pin replace it?
Hoopster50 replied to my762buzz's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
The reason I'm looking for a replacement is that I messed up the face of my hammer and the angle causes the hammer to hit the firing pin in a way that the end of the pin peened over some and is no longer flat. It still fires but I'd prefer to change them both out and start over. -
Saiga firing pin for a 7.62x39 can a ak74 pin replace it?

I'm also curious about this subject. I'd like to get a spare firing pin for my Saiga and was wondering if the 7.62x39 from K-var will work. -
Congratulations! This quote is so true. Try not to worry about things. Of course there's a lot that could go wrong over the next 9 months and 18 years but worry will only taint the joys of the whole experience. Fatherhood is a huge responsibility but try not to look at it in it's entirety, take one step at a time and you'll adjust to the tasks at hand.

ATF Knock.. Knock... Knock...

That's an excellent video, thanks! -
The part of the adapter that goes in the gun has a lip that will act as a bullet guide. You can do the conversion yourself. Nothing needs to be welded unless you want to close up the holes in the receiver. Dinzag has some plastic plugs for the receiver holes, they work great.

Original 10 round magazine after magazine catch conversion?
Hoopster50 replied to Hoopster50's topic in Saiga 7.62 X 39
Got to shoot for the first time Saturday and the original 10 rounder works just as well as the 30 round mags. It's slightly looser (the 30's snap in tight) but still a good fit. I'm pretty happy about this! Now I need a 20 and maybe a 40. -
Lookin good. I got to shoot my conversion for the first time this weekend also. I had the same experience shooting 8-10" high at 100 yards. This was with the factory sights though. I raised the front sight a half turn and all is well.

Pretty sure that's the flat trunnion.

I'd better thank Brian also. I made my order complicated but he stuck with it and treated me great. Appreciate it Brian!

Deadly force is Deadly force. In the Kentucky CCW course nothing of this sort is discussed and there is nothing within the laws either. Concealed deadly weapons in Ky could be anything from brass knuckles to an AK in your trench coat. If I had to kill someone the last thing I'd be worried about is the type of ammo I used.

if shtf what would you rather have?
Hoopster50 replied to gator1010's topic in Saiga Weapons - General Discussion
Bullshit... police in my county carry shotguns loaded with 00-buck, in each cruiser, not bean bags or rubber bullets. I'm fairly certain that they aren't trained in mall ninja tactics, get a clue. Using your logic, stage coaches used a double barrel shotgun as a weapon of choice to scare away chickens. I think stage coaches used shotguns because the AK hadn't been invented yet. I think you both are somewhat correct but you can't make blanket statements about Law enforcements reasons for issuing one over the other. The Shotgun is very versatile for up close work and many do use them -
If all you can carry is FMJ and you want something small enough to conceal but not as small as the sub-compacts, The G23 is your best choice. And a good one it is. Some feel it's the best overall Glock and I agree. Other options are the G30 or G36 but they don't have as high round capacities and I think the G30 is to fat.

I chose the AK because shotgun ammo is to large and heavy. I'd rather have a few mags of 30 rounds on me than a ton of 12 gauge ammo, especially if I've gone mobile. BTW I think this poll is confusing. I assumed Saiga semi meant shotgun and AK meant all other AK variants. Now I'm not so sure what the poll options mean. -
I think you mean one side of the hammer, not trigger. Anyways, once you get the pin through the Hammer and BHO you'll see more clearly what needs to be done. Just give it a shot and keep asking questions. It's really quite easy once you try a few times. I forget who gave the tip but it is easier if you bend the tip of the long leg of the BHO spring up slightly so it doesn't grab the bottom of the receiver and then bend the tip of the short end over and inward so that it grabs the slot on the BHO better. Then use the dental floss, fishing line or thin wire pulled through the BHO slot to

The Saiga Galil hand guard is probably a decent piece. I ordered the wrong one (AK version) and mocked it up on mine and did not like the feel of it so decided to stay with the factory Saiga hand guard. For me it just felt wrong but the only way to tell is to hold one yourself. It's the most affordable way to go if you have to make the change. I drilled holes in the factory one and am very happy so far.

I'll add a few observations of my own. A drill press is a plus but a hand drill or dremel will suffice. A vice is super handy. A dental pick is so useful for the hammer spring and BHO spring that I did the whole conversion without needle nose pliers. Total cost break down for mine: $585 $425 rifle $30 feed ramp $80 stock, pistol grip and hardware $30 tapco G2 FCG $20 magazine (I bought more than one but this just signifies the switch over to 30 rounders) Of course it gets a lot more expensive when you start adding up Ammo and magazines. I also would like a sling and mag pouch.

Looking for a new 9MM 15+ capacity
Hoopster50 replied to gtnichols's topic in Other Weapons - HANDGUNS
GLOCK! I would hold the Glock 26, 19 and 17 and see which one fits your hand the best. -
16" barrel, factory certificate says 110mm at 100 meters.

Mozambique. The items represent security, agriculture and education. There is talk of wanting to remove the AK for PC reasons but it's to ingrained into the culture to gain much momentum.

Conversion fresh out of the garage and basement. Couldn't have done it without all the excellent input from Saiga-12 members!
