Holy crap I had a chance to shoot a FA M10 and thought it was surprisingly controllable. I kept all 32 rounds on a 5' square sized target from 50 yards. If I could afford to feed one I would definitely get one.

Maybe use a little heat. Heat gun would probably do it, maybe an oven on kind of a low temp. I think I read some where that some one used a regular black permanent marker, but they always seem to have a red tint when I use them.

You can't go wrong with either. Underfolders aren't very comfortable to me, partially because of the lack of cheek weld and RPK's are big and heavy. If you want accuracy go RPK, if you want mobility go UF, if you want both go converted Saiga. They are all about the same price and under your budget.

I don't think I have ever heard of a bad experience with Dinzag and I have had nothing but good experiences with his as well.

CSS has them for $325 and I think he said it was like $15 shipping, plus he has all of the parts to convert it. You should be able to convert for under $500 and You will have a brand new AK. As well as a good amount of knowledge of the internals of the AK.
