  1. Call ironwood designs. See if he makes an actual thumb hole stock that you can use
  2. No need to purchase from Classic, when you can get a converted S12, built that way from the Russian factory, from KVar for $879. Still in stock. But I agree, It might take some work, but these guns can be made into one of the most reliable semi-auto shotguns available to date.
  3. Thats what I wanted to do when i joined the Marine Corps many years ago, well not for that particilar aircraft, but as a general helicopter crew chief mechanic. But they did what most USMC recruiters do, and thats by conning me into another MOS saying my eyesight wasnt good enough. Found out later that my eyesight is indeed good enough, enough so that i met requirements to be able to fly aircraft with the USAF. But oh well. Sorry for getting off topic. Just wish you the best of luck with basic and your military career. And dont be pulling out any "stress cards" while your there. Last I che
  4. Take the factory one to a local machinist and have him fabricate one for you. Might be your only option. Good thing is it's a fairly simple part.
  5. What branch of service? Good job on the conversion.
  6. Watch the tuturials on CSS' website and take your time. It is very easy to accomplish with very basic tools and patience. Not much too it other than drilling/grinding off a few rivets, touching up paint, and reassembling everything back with standard AK parts.
  7. For a collapsible stock, do you want folding or non? If folding, check out Bonesteel Arms for their integral buffer tube/folder assembly. They are about the best option without having to cut the tang. For a fixed stock, I prefer the Vltor AR stock adaptor due to the QD holes located near the rear of the receiver. CSS is another option for the AR stock adapters.
  8. Exactly. The only fitting that needs to be done is to be able to insert the drum into the weapon and have it locked in place. Depending on the type of malfunctions you are having, try increasing or decreasing the spring rate inside the drum to see if that solves the problem.
  9. His website will be back up and running tomorrow. You should be able to check availability then.
  10. Anytime brother. I like to help S12 forum members when I can. If I find anymore S12 mags, Ill be sure to post. I hope others will do so too.
  11. Overall, the tuturial by the above youtube is sound advice, except for part 5 where he advises to grind off the front sight and drill straight down into the barrel to make/enlarge/add gas ports. This was lazy, incorrect, and just plain bad advice. He should have removed the gas block and drilled the ports at a 45* angle as the factory ports are done.
  12. tactical-aim dot com has them in stock as well. Showing 138 available. $58
  13. Heads up. Saigastock has 3 in stock. Price is $82.
  14. Only if the hammer is already cocked, if not the carrier cannot push the hammer down past the trigger with the safety on. Thats why my hammer is always locked, cocked, and ready to rock
  15. How solid is the handguard when installed? From the video you posted of installing the handguard, it doesnt appear to have much in the form of keeping the handguard rock solid. Is there any wiggle up and down, or side to side?
  16. It also allows you to cycle the action while keeping the gun on safe when the right side charging handle is removed. It's also nice that the charging handle is non reciprocating on the RCS. It also doesnt affect the use of a left side scope mount.
  17. Clean the hole in the stock, fill it with JB weld and let cure. Once everything is good to go, insert the stock in the receiver, mark and drill you a new hole, and viola.
  18. I would like to know what was done to be able to get that gun to run after shortening the barrel as well.
  19. Once you make the modifications, I would invest in an MD V plug so you can fine tune your gas settings to shoot whatever ammo you using without overgassing the gun. Remember, 4 ports at .075", 3 ports at .093" and youll be all set.
  20. Have you removed your gas block to actually see if they blocked. When you take off the gas block, you will notice an area of paint overspray on top of the barrel where the opening was situated. If all your ports are within that "overspray" area then they are not obstructed. If thats the case, you might just have to open up the ports to the correct size. Its hard to see whats going on until you take that gas block off. You might have to enlarge the opening in the gas block and probably open up your gas ports, along with the proper hammer reprofile, but you do NOT need to change to a li
  21. If something is worth doing, then it is worth doing right. Time to break out new molds.
  22. It it were me, I would stay away from low powered recoil springs. Better to fix the root of the problem than to add bandaids.
  23. Just add a 3 or 4" section of rail to your current handguard. It should be as simple as lining it up, marking the holes and drilling them, using a nut or threaded plate on the underside with loctite.
  24. For mounts, look into the RS Regulate mounts or Midwest Industries sidemounts.
