  1. Couple more that I'm pretty fond of: 625-2 & 1955 Target 'Spacegun' Unfortunately, my aging eyes are having a harder time aquiring & re-aquiring the front sight. I may just actually get one of those Glocks... But there's another alternative developing yet.
  2. Oh, aye... It gets mighty cold up in the highlands. We won't even talk about haggis. How 'bout a deep-fried cheeseburger?
  3. I'm not really a 5.11 type guy, but this shows promise: You can tell, however, that the model isn't a true Scotsman & the sporran is really lame.
  4. But which one to get? I've heard & read that the Vepr has a beefier profile barrel & may be less prone to this phenomenon. As to barrel length, I'd say whichever pleases your eye the most. Here is a good video which addresses the barrel thicknesses (diameter) measurements to the 23" and 27" barrel lengths of the VEPR 7.62x54R rifles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUWldh-NPZA .... although I believe his digital caliper was slightly out of zero when measuring the muzzle end diameter to the 27" barrel; it is unlikely that it would have been wider than that of the gas
  5. Nice, but that's all I'd need, a 7th (or is it 8th?) rifle in this caliber...
  6. 'Frankenstien' 1911 retired (Mid-80s vintage)racegun & EAA Witness. I can shoot the Witness with equal accuracy & better comfort (rheumatoid arthritis sucks...) or the 1911 rather faster. Darth is on the money about 9mm. With good defensive loads, 9mm & 45 ACP will perform pretty much the same. 9mm practice ammo [currently] is easier to find & cheaper than 45. This allows more practice with the same budget. Competence & shot placement beat caliber.
  7. Federal FMJ as often as not for factory practice fodder, HSTs (std vel, 230 gr 45 ACP or 124 gr 9mm) for carry. Speer 135 gr Gold Dots for BUG.
  8. But which one to get? PSL is probably going to be at least $1200-ish to $1800 or more. SVD, Tigr, or NDM-86 {chinese Dragunov (SVD) copy} are gonna go for several times that. PSL barrel is pretty thin & whippy, harmoncs change as the barrel heats up & group size can swell dramatically. I've heard & read that the Vepr has a beefier profile barrel & may be less prone to this phenomenon. As to barrel length, I'd say whichever pleases your eye the most. Site with some good SVD/Tigr & PSL info: http://www.dragunov.net/faq.html#psl
  9. Rio low recoil 00 buck at Natchez for $2.49/box: http://www.natchezss.com/rio-royal-low-recoil-12-ga-2-3-4-00-buck-5-box.html Also getting some PPU 405 gr 45-70 for the Guide Gun; http://www.natchezss.com/45-70-gov-sjhp-405gr-20rd-bx.html
  10. Eotech seems to work OK for this guy. https://www.youtube.com/embed/joutimsx5oM
  11. In my case, it's a stainless Guide Gun with Lyman receiver sight. Then, there's stuff like this. Oy...
  12. Jurassicool, maybe? You might be tacticool if: you figure out a way to fix a bayonet to your attack hamster... Also, the 458 SOCOM thing, does having an equally large amount of 45-70 mitigate that at all?
  13. A pocket pistol is sometimes a good thing to have. S/W 638 is my usual BUG, but old 908 or Bulgy Makarov have served. All would fit your budget, unless you opted for laser grips on the 638.
  14. M76 grip from Apex: https://apexgunparts.com/product_info.php/products_id/5051 Looks good on the M85.
  15. I put about 90 rounds of heavy field loads & reduced recoil 00 through my magazine Sunday (no slugs or full-power buck allowed at indoor range) NO malfuntions or misfeeds. Drove down to C2 Tuesday & put about 95 rounds of bulk-pack and various slug & buck downrange. 100% reliability with; 2-3/4" Federal bulk-pack, Fiocchi 00, Winchester 'Military' 00, Winchester #1 Buck, Rio Star slug, Brenneke KO slug, Brenneke 1-1/8 oz Green Lightning slug, 3" Winchester, Remington & Federal 000, Brenneke 1-3/8 oz Black Magic slug. Last mag was an alternating mix of 3 different types buck &a
  16. Mine was in the mailbox Friday night when I got home from work. Took about 20 minutes of judicious file work to fit. Got a chance to try it out today. 90 rounds of field loads & buck with flawless reliability. I'm very happy with the magazine: just ordered 3 more.
  17. My bad... Did some searches & didn't find earlier thread. Still disturbing...
  18. This is probably the most disturbing goddamn thing I have ever seen: Direct link to product page seems to be swamped. Main page apologies for problem due to high traffic. I'll bet!http://www.letargets.com/ Looks like training aids for 'oathbreakers'.
  19. Widener's has 7N6 for $372.00 per case. Shipping was $30.45 & it showed up in less than a week.
  20. Damn! that's a tough one... I'm torn between one of my PSLs & my SGL-31. Twice the ammo or twice the range?
