  1. Did you contact them about this? If you haven't yet, you should do that. If you have, I'm not sure what to say. Why did you go with MAA over CSS if CSS was cheaper? I'm just curious because you mention CSS at the end of your first paragraph.
  2. I read the article but must admit I'm a little confused. The ATF letter seems to be referring to pistol gripped shotguns without buttstocks so a S12 with a buttstock is one thing. I still think it is stupid but is this pertaining to things like the Mossbergs sold only with pistol grips?
  3. Rus MIlitary has them on preorder.
  4. Do a quick Google search for Rus Military and it will pop up. They're on preorder now (the factory 8s that is).
  5. Are the Draco's proofed? It seems like if they're proofed and the problem was in the heat treatment/construction the problem would've shown up then. The Saiga's are proofed right?
  6. Check out these videos and see if either one solves your problem:
  7. That is some excellent performance!
  8. Zambidis, here are two for your perusal: http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=58622 http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=59510
  9. The way I understand it is this. When you buy a gun new you fill out a form 4473. The paper version is held by the FFL for some period of years but the phone call check is not to be logged or if it is, for not more than two weeks or some such thing. When you sell that firearm through an FFL dealer the process is repeated but again the phone call is not logged for long. If a firearm needed to be traced I believe that the ATF has complete records from the manufacturer/importer to the wholesaler to the dealer and that is where the ATFs central database ends (since we do not have blan
  10. Rifle Dynamics, which is a forum sponsor, is located in Las Vegas.
  11. Can I send you an MD-20 for one of those?
  12. I hope someone here can answer that as well. Did you happen to call RAAC? The one time I needed to call them the gentleman on the other end of the phone was extremely helpful and patient. Perhaps one of us should just call. Too late in the day now though. Also, do I understand 922r correctly in that these could be imported in awesome configuration and not neutered?
  13. Well stated Pauly. This reaffirms that in most cases you shouldn't call the cops or talk to the cops without a lawyer. But as several commentators noted in the article, this would've been a great time for jury nullification. Judges and prosecutors tend to dislike the idea of jurors knowing that they (the jurors) hold this power. What would happen if they passed laws and no one could be convicted?
  14. Thanks for the heads up MAA. Though hunting is the main purpose I am also desirous to add the genuine 2-rounder to my mag collection. Then I can have at least one of each size factory magazines, a true trifecta!
  15. It doesn't matter how many American made parts are on it as long as there are no more than 10 foreign made parts.
  16. No stamps for 922r, just compliance. Stamps are for things like grenades, short barreled shotguns, machine guns, etc. 922r is simply a parts count. If you remove your S12 from "sporting configuration" (yes, it is bogus) like adding a magazine over 5 rounds or a pistol grip you can have no more than 10 foreign made parts. There is a sticky in the Saiga 12 section to give you more details. But there is no stamp or tax. It is DIY.
  17. What magazine were you using? I think this sometimes happens with certain magazines due to the follower. But someone more knowledgeable should hopefully be along shortly.
  18. I'm actually having a tritium front sight added to my S12. Rifle Dynamics has my S12 currently but after having my S12 hit the pavement twice from a moving golf cart the front bead was gone. Jim recommended having the front sight drilled/milled to allow installation of a Big Dot 1911 front sight so that is what I am having done. You could email him about having the work done. With the other work it was something like $60 for the part and $25 for the install if I remember my invoice correctly.
  19. I don't have a lot of experience but I will tell you what I have experienced. A friend of mine recently bought two Soviet Mosins. One was a 1926 Hex receiver with a straight bolt. The second was a 1942 (or 46 I can't remember but it was in the 40's) round receiver ex-sniper (turned down bolt). He seems to have pretty decent success with the hex receiver version but I can't figure it out at all. However, I can rock with the turned down bolt. As an example, here is a target I shot at 100 yards with a rest with late 70's surplus Soviet ammo. If you want a good source or tw
  20. I watched these videos before I got my Saiga 12 to make sure I knew what I was doing. I hope that they help you out. Now not to insert a mag: How to insert a mag:
  21. Kalinka Optics has the BP-02 in two styles for $52.95. Much cheaper than ordering them from the UK. I'm leaning in the direction of getting one for my S-12 for a Burris FastFire II. The BP-02s are made in Belarus. I wonder if that is why Oleg fuzzes that out on the above pictures so people would assume it is made in Russia. However, that doesn't deter me. Belarussians need to eat too!
  22. Or how about innocent until proven guilty. Everyone is treated like they're guilty of being a terrorist until they've been seen naked, swabbed, probed and searched. Security checkpoints are reminiscent of cattle processing lines.
