  1. I'd say K-Var. THey're at least $70 cheaper than anywhere else and shipping is just $20. They only come with one mag but for the price difference and the fact that extra mags are $20 that is not a big deal.
  2. Excellent advice. I was just about to say to check that the extractor pin has not backed out some. I was at the range in late October with some friends and this happened. It is pretty embarrassing. Of course if it is intermittent that would be weird but it might be right on the cusp and may get push back in slightly when you're fiddling with it. Good luck.
  3. I have a Px4 full size and really like it. The Px4 Compact has gotten fantastic reviews and seems to be a good competitor to the Glock 19 (which will probably be mentioned several times). So I say the Px4 for shootability, reliability, accuracy and looking good.
  4. ^ This. I never bought any Yugo but at least it was a little bit cheaper than the current non-corrosive ammo. This seems to be about the same price or not much of a difference to warrant buying it.
  5. I was disappointed because the whole article was based on hearsay without any real evidence.
  6. The fastest way to pay Buds (removing the CC option) is by money order. I ordered a SIG once on a Monday and sent them a MO the same day and my gun shipped Wednesday because as soon as they had it in hand they could ship it. Personal checks are slow because they usually wait 10 business days before shipping if there is a problem with the check. You can arrange an ACH payment with Buds but I found that was also pretty slow for the funds to clear their account (which I find really annoying as it is all electronic, how on earth could it take 4 days to post?).
  7. For new guns, I see the check more as a burden for the FFL. And that's ok because he's making a profit, and so he should have some responsiblity for the transaction, a cost of doing business. For used guns between individuals, I don't think there's a good solution that won't create a costly middleman or make used guns harder to sell. What's the difference between an illegal face to face sale and falsely reporting a firearm stolen? I dunno. just a rough idea. not sure i'm set in it. I may not agree with you but thanks for clarifying and understanding correctly that I wanted m
  8. Of course, that would be assuming that the authors are even telling the truth. I posted this on another forum but thought you might appreciate it: Truthfully, the article was so poorly written that it was getting me to laugh. I could close my eyes and imagine a huffy 5th grade girl writing something like this with how poorly it was written and the obvious intent to make it wordlessly breathless. Just for fun I'll point out some doozies that are nothing more than A) illogically applied adjectives, just plain logic fails or C) willful misrepresentation: 1) "police grade pistol" Wh
  9. AH! Now it makes sense. I've used tannerite before but never got a large fireball like that. Now I understand.
  10. Twice I've been in a shop when someone trying to buy a gun checked out positive for outstanding warrants. One guy was wanted for traffic violations. He was no big deal. The other guy was wanted for domestic violence. He did not leave quietly. The checks are necessary, and, by itself, form 4473 is only good for getting a set of fingerprints. I agree with your sentiment -- guns should be easy to buy for good citizens. Recently my city asked the state to limit handgun sales to 1 per month, and, the moment I found out, I emailed my representative. But doing away with background check
  11. Good summary. Railed forearm? Need to be compliant. Muzzle brake? Need to be compliant. Pistol grip? Need to be compliant. Magazine greater than 5 rounds? Need to be compliant. Basically you could replace the factory monte carlo stock with another, or the "sporting" forearm for another "sporting" forearm but beyond that you have to be compliant. It sucks because it is completely arbitrary and made even more asinine because it only applies to imported guns so nothing about this even has to do with curtailing "evil" features. It is just a means to make ownership of f
  12. Agreed. I think a lot of people today are used to outsourcing their protection onto others. They don't even think about this until it is too late. Or they find it distasteful and avoid it without any real critical thought. This is something I've been slowly talking through with my wife because I can't always be around and want to make sure she has the best tools and skills available to defend herself.
  13. My pin kept starting to walk out and tried this and flattened my punch but didn't peen the pin enough to keep it in place. So I did as RED333 mentioned and put a drop of loctite on both ends of the pin. That pin is a weak point of the S12 in my experience.
  14. This is great to hear. Elliot told me yesterday that VEPRs ship for just $20. That was awesome.
  15. Ditto, I talked to Elliiot a few minutes ago to place an order for a standard VEPR in 7.62x39 and he was really helpful.
  16. Yes, you need to add a bullet guide for any of the VEPR's to take regular AK mags. A few more quick questions: 1) How long is the sale going to last? 2) Do the Saiga factory 10 round magazines also work in the Vepr such that if I had one lying around I could use it as well? Thanks! 1. I have no idea. I would recommend that you get it now while you can. 2. No, they are two different types. Excellent, I just left you a voicemail at the phone number you listed above.

  18. That was really generous. You're blessed by a great family. Enjoy shooting together!
  19. I didn't think it was a very good article. The way it was written gives the impression that there are a tiny minority of people who want to liberalize gun laws in Mexico but that even other "community groups" think it is a bad idea. They also further imply that all guns in Mexico are smuggled from the US (another great lie already pointed out several times in this thread) and that there is rampant gun violence in the US that is the direct consequence of US gun laws (which is funny considering that the article is talking about the rampant gun violence in Mexico which has extremely r
  20. Do the VEPRs need a bullet guide to take AK mags (of course other things to be 922r compliant)?
