  1. I fired a Sig 556 and I was ultimately annoyed with how wide the front sight post happened to be on the particular one I was shooting. It made it harder to accurately shoot at longer distances. Is it just me, or are the front sight posts on these things unusually wide? Unlike some people, I do not find this gun to be "too heavy" (my M1A is heavier and I do not have issues with that). The gun I fired performed flawlessly, but again, that front sight post drove me up a wall. If I were going to get one of these rifles, I would probably try to find a narrower front sight post (assuming t
  2. I have not fired either of these rifles, but I have been told that the PSL is just as accurate as an SVD. Personally, I would save my money and go with the PSL if I were you. I have also seen a fair deal of Tigr rifles selling for $3K, so unless I am mistaken, the difference between the PSL and Tigr is greater than $1000. Dragunov magazines also cost more, which would be another factor when it comes to having the Tigr. In my opinion, SVD style rifles are more suited for collectors and such that have a lot of spare money to burn. For practical shooting, I would go with the PSL for a marksm
  3. I am not impressed with Arsenal's AK FCG's. Call me odd, but I like the Tapco G2 better.

  4. I am working as a public school janitor, and I despise it. I did not have problems with it for the first several years or so (I have been doing it for the past six and a half years in two different districts), but it really became stultifying after awhile. Admittedly, I am probably better off than a lot of people my age (I am 25 years old and I am studying for a license that will bring my salary to $40K/yr.), but I am hoping to eventually get out of this field of work. I am toying with the idea of sniffing out a flight school and becoming a helicopter pilot. The thing that really suck
  5. I was out firing my Saiga 5.45 today, and I had a single failure to feed, which is one too many for an AK. I will be installing my CSS bullet guide once I get my hands on a tap handle. What is it that one has to file again to get surplus mags working with a bullet guide? Something on the mag catch? I can't remember off the top of my head.
  6. My Saiga conversion parts are finally here. I will start on a basic conversion and order some other stuff to finish things off (Bulgarian FSB, two piece lower handguard retainer). :)

  7. It takes some time for the stuff to ship out, but once it ships out, it does not take long to arrive. I would agree with Chevyman097 that the stuff takes awhile due to other priorities during the weekdays.
  8. Honestly, I see the stock Saiga hand guard as having more functionality than the classic hand guards we see on the military rifles. For one, you are decreasing part numbers by 2 (upper hand guard and retainer piece) which decreases more problems/weight (not much). Another +1 on the functionality of the Saiga hand guards is the larger surface area to hold/protect the front end of the rifle be it with your hand or a rest of some sort. Might not look as pretty as the HG for the original ak100's, but I feel that the Saiga HG is a tad bit superior. Now the new ak's with the metal HG are bad az
  9. That is definitely a nice rifle you have there. I am working on building a carbine myself, and I look forward to firing it at the range in the future.
  10. I would like to say "thank you" as well. To describe CSS's shipping as punctual would be an understatement of titanic proportions.
  11. I have been doing some lifting at the gym (I am trying to get into shape for once), but I do not view it as a highlight of any of my days.
  12. I carry a Gen 4 GLOCK 19 (I have not had any issues with it so far). It is a bit thicker than some other pistols, but I am getting used to carrying it IWB.
  13. Gun shows have sucked for some time if you ask me. I take it all of the good stuff was bought up during the 2008 Obama scare. I am honestly thinking of never going to a gun show again.
  14. Two to four weeks? I thought it was one to two weeks (with the exception of custom parts). I ordered some stuff on Feb. 17th and I have yet to know if it shipped.
  15. I do not bother with bumper stickers for those reasons, but I also don't bother with them, given that I would be afraid of scratching something and lowering the vehicle's resale value. Thats why its on my back window and not my paint. I suppose that would work to avoid scratching paint while removing the stickers, but I would still be giving some cops an excuse to pull me over or some lunatic to try to chase and/or attack me if I had bumper stickers in the first place.

  17. That build definitely looks interesting. I wish I had the tools and skills to build my own AK's.
  18. I am kicking myself for not buying one when they were that cheap (around Spring 2007, I think). Saiga 12's also sold for around the same price.
  19. Five kids? You would need to install a "glass bolt" in every Saiga 12 ever produced, in addition to all of those produced for the next 20 years to be able to afford that. Seriously, how to people afford to have kids? Family insurance premiums alone are extremely expensive. I don't ever want to have kids. I have been doing over six years of mindless drudgery as a public school janitor, so the last thing I want to do when I get home is to do the exact same thing I was doing at work for eight hours (cleaning up after kids).
  20. I am single and I do not have a girlfriend. It probably explains why I was able to buy a brand new car shortly after my 22nd birthday in spite of not having a college degree.
  21. I have not tried any of the other variants, but I am happy with my Polish Tokarev.
  22. A Deuce would really help me get around on snowy days like we have been having (my Corolla is almost worthless on unplowed roads), but I would be hard pressed to find a place to store one of them. I have heard that they can be obtained for a reasonable price ($4K-$5K), but I have no idea on how widely available parts happen to be.
  23. I have no idea, but if I were going to go for a milled Century gun, I would probably just ignore the Centurion 39 and just get the Polish 1960 AK instead, given that those are a bit cheaper. But as others have said, for what a Centurion 39 costs, I agree that one would be better off buying an Arsenal AK instead. Well, either that, or I would go with the VZ-58 if I really wanted a rifle with a milled receiver.
  24. People keep saying that there is some shipment that cleared customs some time ago, but I have yet to see anything concrete on its arrival. In the past, people were saying it would show up in February, now they are saying it will show up in March. I am still waiting on a Saiga 5.45 from this shipment. I managed to snag a Saiga 5.45 awhile back from Atlantic Firearms. I see the Saiga 5.45 listed on their website, but you will have to contact them to see if it is in stock before ordering.
  25. Yes, those are indeed overpriced if you ask me. Sure, a thicker RPK receiver would be nice to have, but there is no way I would pay over twice the price of a Saiga 7.62X39 for a sporter rifle with such a receiver. Saiga rifles and AKM's work just fine with the 1mm receiver. If one is going to shell out big money for an AK stronger receiver, he/she may as well save up a bit more and just get a milled AK, if you ask me.
