Have you profiled the hammer and polished the appropriate surfaces? When new my S12 would not cycle anything lighter than very stiff 2-3/4" loads. After profiling the hammer and removing friction from the system, it has not missed a cycle since. If your ports are open, your issue is most likely friction. If you are handy enough to convert an S12 you are handy enough to fix it yourself. If you are not, there are those who will happily fix it for a price.

What product and when? Not a drum, the V-Plug. The threads had a flat spot, would not thread, all I wanted was to send it in and have them cleaned up so it would work. First half of 2011, I'm still "waiting" for a reply to my contact attempts. In the meantime, my Auto-Plug runs well. I do have a drum. It runs well. But it is very clear MD gives no care for CS, and there are other vendors more than willing to give both a good product and good service.

Ordered one of his products...it was defective upon arrival....I could never get a reply. Didn't even ask for a replacement, just if it could be fixed. No thanks. I don't care if he releases an infinite magazine.

Brownells manufactures their own AR15 mags...someone there who I know personally was quoted online that they had sole 3.5 years' worth of normal demand in 72 hours. -
Duracoating using the single use spray cans is simple. The factory finish is cheap, make sure you get it all off. The supplied stripper takes it off pretty well.

That was about 18 months ago. I've already had one of his products that needed warranty work, to which inquiries got no reply. Based on the way he is apparently running his "business", I would not buy another product with his name on it.

If you're spending big money to get your Saiga to run, well, everything, then you are either a victim to marketing ploys or not very handy with a Dremel. As long as your ports are open, a little profiling and polishing is all it should take to run everything. MAYBE a new puck, at the most. If you're replacing springs, you're doing it wrong....

Plenty of content on the site in the stickies and search on this. In short, check your port opening to see if they are blocked and what the size is. If the ports are in spec, you need to profile your bolt and hammer to reduce friction. Unless you have blocked or undersized ports, profiling should be all you need to get it cycling. Mine had fine ports. I swapped the FCG for a Texas AK group, and appropriately profiled myself with a dremel. It will now run anything under the sun. You said that if you let the bolt forward slow, it hangs up. This is the bolt hanging up on the hammer, and if you've properly profiled the bolt and hammer this won't happen. You want it so that even if you ease the bolt forward, you can't get it to hang up before it closes. This is cheap and requires a dremel and some patience. I colored the parts of the bolt you do NOT want to touch (plenty of threads on this) with black sharpie, and carefully worked on it, profiling down then polishing, until I had smooth bolt closure. If you want a perfect gun out of the box, there are lots of Remingtons/Winchesters/Benellis out there in standard configurations. The Saiga is different. If you are a moron with tools, it is not the gun for you unless you have a deep wallet. I bought mine because a) they are a unique and interesting firearm, and I WANTED a project that would occupy my hands for awhile. All told, I probably spend 20+ hours tinkering with my Saiga from the time it came out of the box until I had it finished. I considered it time well spent. Same reason I am looking at Savages for bolt actions

If you can pull the bolt all the way rearward and release, and it flies into battery, but if you let it down slow and it hangs up, this is normal for a non-profiled gun. You would have to profile to remove friction to get it to stop riding on the hammer. If pulling all the way back and releasing does not work, you still have larger issues.

This forum is for the S12. By your logic why would there be separate option for the S20 and S410? Perhaps I should just post about my M1 Garand on here as well.

100 yards??? You are very new to hunting, aren't you? Please respect the game and don't try something stupid like that. 50 yards is about the max you can expect...if your gun patterns decently.

My Saiga would not even come close to cycling any standard "trap" or "small game" ammunition, including reloads. In my opinion it is not the gun's design but a common problem of weapons operated by gas ports -- ammo makers using fast-burning powder in low volumes to save money. It is well-known that the M1 Garand must be reloaded with powders in a specific burn range to avoid delivering too high of a pressure at the gas port and snapping the operating rod...shattering the stock and likely the forearm/face of the shooter. Capacity restrictions vary by state. I do use a 2-rounder, but only because there is no need for the length and weight of 5 rounds when hunting turkeys.

You shoot turkeys in the head. If you shoot them in the body chances are they will run off and you will never find them. This is why "turkey chokes" are tighter than those used for any other purpose....your target is very small. I use my S-12 for Turkeys. I did nothing special to it, other than screw on an extra-full turkey choke and sight it in with 3in shells.

I know this may seem like a dumb question, but are you absolutely sure you're adjusting it the right way? If the bolt doesn't even move it sounds like you could have reversed the direction you turned it.

Your post is not very clear, but if you went from Setting 1 to Setting 5 with the same ammo, you either a) have something blocking part of your gas system, or bent/broke something that is increasing friction in the action. As you say it feels like it cycles fine, let me ask if you checked to verify that your gas ports are fully open and you don't have a piece of paper wad or something mucking up your gas system?

I find that hard to believe... Not that its impossible, shit happens. I was stating the simple facts of what happened. I sent an email out...it did not bounce back...and a reply was never received. I really don't care whether some random person on the internet with absolutely no knowledge of the situation believes me or not.

I've had 3 since March...their function has been the same as my factory mag....boringly reliable. I let them drop free often...onto sod albeit...no damage.

Use a dremel cutoff wheel and cut through the rear sight behind the leave until you are almost through. This will relieve the pressure and let you drive it out relatively easily. Otherwise, you may beat the crap out of your gun before you get it out.
