    922r

Not if you get Dinzag's .308 FCG The .308 does not need a bullet guide installed, and the new trigger will use the same pin and pin hole location as the factory trigger. So, I'd say it's easier. I used only a hand drill. Though a drill press might have made it easier, it's not required. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=31996
  3. In the factory configuration, it's 922r compliant with magazines capable of holding 10 rounds or less. It doesn't matter where the low capacity magazines are made, as 922r would not apply. If you want to add 'evil' features to the gun (pistol grip, magazines that can hold more than 10 rounds, etc.) then 922r applies. Some people depend on US made magazines for compliance. There could be a problem, depending on what other alterations you've made, in using the factory magazine with this. For example; adding the Tapco Intrafuse Saiga T6 Stock and using US made magazines would be compliant
  4. Loxahatchee here (Western Palm Beach County). I can't say for certain about USPS (mail), but I get most of my ammo via UPS (just got some a few days ago). I do know that, although we have generally good gun laws, Florida does prohibit many of the exotic shotgun rounds (flechettes, dragon's breath, etc.). Could that have been the cause of the disclaimer?
  5. To use magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds, you'll need to replace 4 listed foreign parts with US made ones. http://thegunwiki.com/Gunwiki/BuildSaigaVerifyCompliance There are many options for doing this. If you like the gun as it is, the easiest route is to replace the gas piston and use U.S. made magazines. Since it's a .223, you could also get one of the AR magazine adapters listed on this site, and stick with US made AR magazines. If you don't like the stock, you can convert it to pistol grip configuration. If you use US made furniture, you'd elimintate one forei
  6. Sounds like the Saiga 100: http://www.raacfirearms.com/Saiga_100.htm
  7. In an imported semi-auto shotgun magazine that can hold 5 rounds or less = O.K. (10 or less in an imported semi-auto rifle).* If you want to use magazines that hold more than 5 rounds (10 in rifle) you need to bring the numer of listed foreign parts to 10 or less. I know it makes no sense, but then many gun laws don't. * Excluding exceptions for guns imported prior to passage of 922r, and not taking into account various State laws.
  8. This one clamps on the barrel: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ARR044-7.html It works better if you add a muzzle brake or flash hider.

    922r

The Saiga rifles have 14 listed parts, as imported. Here's the link to the Saiga specific (rather than the generic AK) 922 checklist: http://thegunwiki.com/Gunwiki/BuildSaigaVerifyCompliance
  10. Looks that way to me also. Tapco AK (SAW style) grip: http://www.tapco.com/proddesc.aspx?id=b798...14-b456d5cc1c81 Tapco FAL grip: http://www.tapco.com/proddesc.aspx?Id=a42e...fd-6cd570e4a05e

  12. Likely because the demand for replacement FCG's for factory configuration (non-pistol grip) Saigas is too small to justify setting up to manufacture the triggers.

    .223 M

I just measured my Saiga-M .223 using the BATFE method (using a rod inserted in the barrel with the bolt forward). It is approximately 21.8". I used the cleaning rod that came with the rifle. I don't have a standard Saiga .223 to measure; perhaps someone that does can measure theirs.

    .223 M

The Saiga-M barrel appears to be slightly longer. RAA lists the barrels as 16.3 and 20.49 inches for the Saiga .223's: http://www.raacfirearms.com/Saiga.htm The Saiga-M in .223 barrel appears to be 21.8 inches: http://www.centerfiresystems.com/saiga223m...artsai-b-1.aspx

  17. I believe his use of the pistol grip stock puts his gun under 922r.
  18. Here's one for $399: http://www.centerfiresystems.com/saiga223m...artsai-b-1.aspx

    .223 M

The plastic stocked model I bought (.223) has the same trigger setup as the normal Saiga 308, and not the same as the normal Saiga .223 or 7.62x39 models.
  20. Nice job. Which Williams sight did you use? It looks like a WGRS, but made for which gun? Thanks.
  21. The number of US parts doesn't matter. It's the number of listed foreign parts (must be ten or less). Adding a US made pistol grip does nothing for the 922 parts count on a Saiga (since it didn't have one when imported). On the other hand, adding a foreign pistol grip would actually increase the number of listed foreign parts. You start with 14 listed foreign parts on a Saiga 12 with a threaded barrel (13 if barrel is not threaded): "Tapco six pos. stock with pistol grip" replaces 1 listed foreign part and brings you to 13 (12 if barrel is not threaded). "Forward pistol grip" rep
  22. Few people have good luck with the dust cover mounts (like the one you link to) with any AK. The dust cover tends to move, shifting the POI. Even if you get the dust cover to remain stable, you'll likely have to sight in the scope all over again every time you remove the cover to clean the rifle.
