  1. Quasi-P-Grip is exactly the term I use, QPG for short. The drastic inletting for the wrist is a target version upgrade. I don't know how similar a stamped Norinco hunter is, but it may be a good match. If you'd be able to post a pic of your hunter's stock removed from the receiver and of the receiver rear up close, that would be a great help. And these pictures would be fine for all to see on this thread as far as I'm concerned.
  2. I E-mailed Atlantic to see about getting one, they said there is inadequate demand to stock them. With the price of 308 going through the roof, 30-06 is making a comeback as a SHTF round in my collection. I am getting on this quickly as a matter of honor, as many of us have said that we would buy one if they were here and now it seems it isn't a priority for many people. Unless it is very disappointing I plan to promote it as much as I can. Per my first post, I'll reiterate my guesses: I do not believe that the rifle can be safely modified to accept unaltered BAR magazines, and I DO be
  3. A multi-axis machine for under $1k? I'm listening. Exactly how many axes are you talking about? My machine has three linear axes plus a forth rotational axis mount for the work that I have used exactly once. I could do composite furniture already if I had the blank material. Problem with machining composites is that they cost so dang much that the only way to cost effectively form them is to mould them, that way you're not paying for any material that you then shave off. Aluminum I could do too if there was a market. But there again the equipment costs would be very high. Custom
  4. That is not the same grip as the one pictured for sale. The one for sale appears to be cut from a standard buttstock. The location of the sling swivel is right where the hole is for the grip end-cap screw.
  5. Ordered a Saiga 100 in 30-06 at the end of last week, and they said it would be shipping out just this past monday. Crossing my fingers for two reasons - One, this is the Saiga EAA and RAA have been promising "next season" since 2002. There seems to be something "cursed" about their actual availability. Tromix is the first person I know of to get his hands on one, and immediately he did a full AK style conversion. Two, Armsofamerica seems new on the scene and one of their members was associated with the infamous JoeKen in the past. They have seemed to individuate themselves from
  6. Not sure I get the hang of the new attachment feature yet. This set is for a board member. Wanted a more sporting and less expensive thumbhole stock than my typical dragunov one. Also wanted a matching Galil style grip for switching to a folding stock. Wood is honduran mahogany, and the gun is a Saiga-12 (same pattern for Saiga-20.) This is a combination of red oak pieces that gave some rude surprises in their coloring. A dark finish would pretty much clear them up, and this set would of course be at significantly reduced price. It fits the Saiga-12 and 20. This is another
  7. Here are some sets in progress. Two are for standing orders, but the rest are available. If any of them catch your interest I can put them in line for completion since my elective production takes a back seat to paid orders.
  8. I'm a fan of the long barreled bullpup. I don't really like bullpups that are butt-heavy, but fitting a long barrel inside something a foot or so shorter is my cup of tea. I'm greatly looking forward to seeing the new Kel-Tec 308 bullpup in person with a 32" barrel. Ballistics approach 300 win mag levels, and the muzzle blast should be pretty tame, not to mention the recoil.
  9. Unfortunately that's NOT how it worked in this case. HGK washed out and the shotgun is for sale again. If any of my special option quoting was confusing (which I am very often) just message me with what you'd like and I'll quote it, taking into account all applicaple discounts.
  10. After posting "I'll take it" in my For Sale thread for a Saiga-20 shotgun and then talking a good bit about custom furniture to include in the deal, Hellgrunk said he could not afford the item due to his other regular financial commitments (vs emergencies which are more understandable.) People need to have their finances in order BEFORE committing to make a purchase and tieing the item up for however long it takes for them to admit that they are not in a position to buy it. While unprepared for the commitment, I do not believe HGK was at all dishonest. He has had good feedback in the
  11. Cross posting is a touchy issue. I can entirely understand that cross-posting can leave people in very frustrating situations. However, the ONLY forum to ban cross-posting in the past has been Gunsnet. They have since lifted that ban. They must have felt that being the definitive gun site meant that people would still post there for the largest audience. Since they've driven so many people away, they have apparently realized that they won't get anything worth anyone's attention if they exclude those who post elsewhere. The problem with banning cross-posting is that when nobody else ba
  12. I can offer an integrally retained lower handguard. Dinzag can offer a clamp-on lower retainer and gas tube modified for the Saiga complete with upper handguard retainers. I can offer wooden furniture for either option.
  13. Not Jesus, that's for sure. One thing to consider - If you try to use followers and floorplates for compliance, you have to replace every one on every mag and worry if a foreign mag were to be ever used accidentally. Forger about drums. If you cover your compliance with FCG and furniture, you can breathe easy suing any mag you like. On an AK, if you have all US made furniture and all US made fire control components, you can use any magazine AND any muzzle attachment with no worries. And there's no law saying you can only use X many US made components. If you do want to go
  14. Not all that impressive, but mine is like this but black. Works extremely well.
  15. You may or may not be aware that Saiga shotgun barrels don't swap out as easily as typical pump or semi-auto barrels. Replacing a Saiga barrel would require the pin and barrel to be pressed out. That said, if you're still looking for a spare Saiga 410 barrel, there may be a few available once Tromix starts doing S-410 conversions to 444 Marlin.
  16. The price on conversion furniture and parts is a package deal only, intended to help move the shotgun. I have received a number of E-mails and PMs that are more cryptic than "I'll take it", so if you want this deal on a NEW Saiga-20, claim it now. We can figure all the package details later if you are sure you at least want the shotgun. Will discount a wooden furniture set an additional $20 if you'll let me keep the original synthetic handguard.
  17. I entirely appreciate and relate to needing to take care of paying customers first. I am, however, seriously interested in this project. Something about the way my fingers work makes me allergic to leverguns, and a 444 Saiga would serve my big bore needs. No 45-70 Marlin for me.
  18. Special revised conversion offer: Will include K-var buttstock, G2 FCG, and Falcon industries ergo grip for $50 additional - this is a killer price on these parts. FCG is new, Falcon grip and K-var stock are used. Will do conversion with these parts for $50 additional, so for a total of $100 additional. This is not the Tromix conversion complete with proprietary trigger guard and refinishing, but it works. That's $400 for a NEW and CONVERTED S-20. Whether you use it for tactical or sporting use, the superior trigger and balance of the conversion would serve you well. There are offers
  19. If tromix estimates 90-120 days and holds to it, that's pretty dang good in my opinion. Even the best of us often have to offer apologies and revised estimates just because things take more time than we'd expect. 90-120 days really isn't all that long, and if that's on the side of caution then I'd say kudos to Tromix!
  20. S-20 from CDNN S-X39 from Dunhams S-223 from Gunboards member S-308 from Gunsamerica ad S-410 from CDNN S-20 from Auctionarms ad I'm considering ArmsofAmerica for their S-100 30-06.
  21. I too prefer a barrel that's at least as long as the receiver. If I ever went SBS I think 10-12" would be it.
  22. I don't share my phone except in rare circumstances because there have been cases of harrassment by anti-gunners who get the numbers of serious gun guys on the internet. This has even goen to the point of threats (ironic, isn't it? Ant-gunners threatening gun owners?) I just take a chunk of time for work and a chunk of time for communications. I do return them with rare exceptions. That way things get done faster and time spent is controlled, which improves pricing, quality, and timeliness of work, all of which are in a customer's favor. Something folks need to realize when they wa
  23. That is correct and you will have a better trigger for it. A no-gunsmithing option would be a US made handguard and buttstock. There aren't very many sources for those out there, but I think I can hook you up with a nice wooden set.
  24. When you think about it, those are the critical parts of a Saiga, others can be substituted with AK parts, though the gas tube and block may take some doing as well. And boy was that a nice price. Cobra, are you building what I think you're building?
