  1. You cannot legally perform work on guns for money without an FFL. DEFINITELY cannot take shipment of them. Farthest I'd ever consider going is accepting dinner from friends after doing one together. Or possibly accepting an overpayment/finders fee for parts necessary for said conversion. But NEVER on a regular basis and NEVER having them shipped. Darnet, MJ, you had me hoping.
  2. VEPRs generally get MOA as a rule. Saigas are good, but whether it's 2moa or sub-moa is luck of the draw. There are ways to improve it, but for the money it would cost to make the Saiga as accurate as the VEPR, might as well geta VEPR. G3s are good buys and can be accurate. If you want the king in certain 308 accuracy, the AR-10 is the absolute way to go, with the M1a as a close second for more money.
  3. Misinformation makes my head hurt. A Saiga shotgun after the ban would be legal with restricted features as long as the lengths are ok and there are 10 or less imported parts from THE LIST. Receiver counts as one. It's one of the hardest to replace. Replace FCG, P-grip, and buttstock and you're good. Make your own forend and there's another if you choose to. Not sure how you'd get a piston for it, but Krinkov may be a possibility. Other parts that would count would be magazine follower, floorplate, and body. There is no difference whether the receiver is foreign or not as long
  4. If you do have an FFL, perhaps you'd be interested in doing professional 308 mag adaptor installations too...
  5. Interesting, I primarily use 2.75", in fact almost exclusively. How many rounds have you put through the SAS-12? I actually like the traditional Shotgun action shape even for detachable mag shotguns.
  6. Now that AK-74 mags are getting harder to find, 223 AK mags are hardly uniform, and AR mags will soon be appearing in hi-cap form again, I'm thinking AR mags in 223 AKs will have their day soon. I plan to develop a permanent AR mag conversion (different from the adaptors poreviously available) that should be plenty reliable with even the cheapest AR mag. Right now it's just a pet project on the shelf while I develop my G3 adaptors, but if it works out I might offer it. Also, I'm thinking of trying to design one to use an AR group so that you can have reliability and durability of AK but com
  7. Threads on this forum probably tell the most. The rest I'm sort of keeping under tabs until I'm sure of all the final details. What I'm currently debating is whether to use the hole for the plate as a mounting point instead of the old mag catch holes, and if so what do do about the trigger guard. We'll see. Today I plan to take it to a friend's range for testing.
  8. Gunsnet group buys generally are $30ish for each FCG, with better prices in quantity. Though they're not cheap, that's the cheapest you pay per compliance part. $30 for three parts means $10 each. Compare to $15 for a piston and $40 for a buttstock.
  9. Yes, it applies to shotguns, but not pistols. I would recommend replacing the buttstock, P-grip, and FCG, as I do on other Saigas. You need to replace those anyway, so why not spend your money once and get them made in the USA?
  10. So wait, the SAS-12 is not always a jammomatic? That's what I've heard elsewhere. Using chokes is definitely a big plus. CDNN was closing them out at $100 once. I was interested too, but was hesitant to use slugs since the barrel said lead shot only, plus the mag was hell to insert and remove.
  11. Sweeeet! Any links? I could definitely go for a Tanto...
  12. I cry when I remember 20" Saiga X39s at a show for less than the carbines. $180.
  13. As an update, the first mag adaptor is finished and ready for testing. Once that is done and dimensions are finalized, it will be time to hit production.
  14. Buttstocks should be interchangeable. Of course there's one more thing to add... G3 magazine adaptor, coming soon... It would be 100% legal to install now with a compliance parts conversion, but it would make the perfect addition to a post-expiration project.
  15. If the barrel ring was small enough, yes I would go with the WWI setup of beneath the barrel. I would attach them in a manner similar to the way scope rings tighten on a scope. Where in the world have you seen a 16" blade for an M16?
  16. Assuming you're waiting till the ban expires for it to be legal, yes that stock will fit. If you want to consider a variety first, FSE makes a Krink style buttstock, Tapco makes a folder, and I plan to offer my own skeleton type.
  17. Since we're on the subject of police firepower vs criminals, I have had a theory for a while that could use some comments. I've tended to believe that since military ammunition is designed with light recoil, mass production, wounding (as opposed to killing or incapacitating), full auto weapons, medium to long range applications, and the Hague Convention in mind, military rounds may not be the best for law enforcement. I tend to believe that law enforcement would be better served by medium bore (35 to 40 caliber) intermediate powered carbines (ie cartridges between pistol caliber and fu
  18. I thought the M77 was built on the RPK receiver and trunion. I think it's longer than AK-100, which is what the Saiga 308 is based on. In the meantime, my G3 magazine adaptor is very close to being finished and put into production.
  19. As soon as my AKM stock set comes in for me to use as a model, I'll be developing aftermarket clamp on retainers that don't require you to remove anything from your gun.
  20. It's the funniest thing, but my Saiga X39 has a decent round count using... try not to laugh guys... A section of PVC pipe. Atached by... ready guys... ? Being wedged in by hand. I kid you not. I shaped it with a Dremel to wedge between the trunion and the barrel, and angled the edge of the feed ramp. It was intended as a stop gap measure until I got my hands on the metal that I wanted to use. Hundreds of rounds later, including quite a bit of rapid fire recently, the feed ramp's as tight as ever, and while showing wear, seems to be as much there as when I shoved it in there. It's r
  21. If you want to mount a flashlight or laser, there are mounts which will clamp onto the barrel without apicatinny rail. If you must have a rail, I am hoping to offer one integrated with a bayonet lug and front site. Does it have to be on the underside, or can it be on the side?
  22. My G3 mag adaptor is nearing completion as we speak. Uses slightly modified G3 mags in a Saiga 308 converted by the owner with a level of skill one notch above a Saiga 223 conversion to P-grip and hi-cap.
  23. Impressive... How controllable is it to shoot? Is its size comfortable?
  24. That was a total typo, thanks for pointing it out. I fixed it to avoid confusion.
