  1. Backup? Which room? Office, .380 Bersa with +P hollowpoints and AMD-65 (Hungarian Shorty AK) in 7.62 X 39 Bedroom, Chinese AK-47 underfolder. Living room, M-11/9mm and Yugo Krinkov M-92 pistol in 7.62 Kitchen, Tec-9 Bathrooms, NAA Minis, Sunroom, Romanian AK-47 'Roving' Taurus PT-92 AF and Beretta Model 21 Wife likes the Saiga-12 though, point and pull.
  2. I've owned AK-47s for years and started building them about 5 years ago from the then available kits, (AMD-65, Polish PMKMS, Romanian G's, Yugo M-92 etc) Sadly we cannot use centerfire rifles here in Communist Md. for any type hunting so I used a blackpowder rifle that though accurate was sadly lacking in reliability and of course no ability for a follow up shot so I sort of needed a shotgun but they're so....18th century fowling pieces with upgraded ignition. Of course I'd heard of the Saiga 12. One day my wife and I walked into the local gun shop and there was a Saiga 12 hanging on th
  3. Not suprising actually. Mine does pretty much the same. However to hit what I was actually aiming at I had to ditch the factory sights and install a V notch rear and AK style front sight.
  4. Thickness is .068 Inch (1.7mm) Steel. Sorry no idea of exact material. Figure 4130 hardened as a starting point.
  5. Don't knock Tampons. I replaced the RADAR on a Army LC and the wave guide (A squarish tube that the RADAR signal passes through from the control unit to the antenna) had ingested salt water and had Iraqi dust in it too. The wave guide was about 35 feet long with many bends. A female Coastie was providing cover/armed security while we were fixing the RADAR (We were in UmQasr) and heard our problem of not being able to clean this wave guide. We were going to try rags or brushes tied to a wire or cable. Coastie Chick asks what's the diameter of the guide and we say "18mm X 24mm". She goes b

    FTF In Saiga 12s

Failure to feed...And i am using the same ammo...Federal Wally world Value pack..#7 1/2 shot So is the nose of the shell hitting the top of the barrel? Or are the shells coming up too slow out of the magazine? Or are the shells feeding into the chamber but not sliding forward that last inch or so? Polish the bolt face, polish the little channel that the extractor goes up, grease the lugs of the bolt, inspect the magazine. If the feed angle is off and the nose of the shell is hitting the top of the barrel you are going to have to correct that. THe shells are feeding

    FTF In Saiga 12s

Just describe what's happening OK? Does the shell jam on the upper or lower part of the chamber? What ammo are you using? What magazine(s)? Does it do it when charging the piece or just during firing? What modifications (If any) have been done? Can you MAKE it work by using certain ammo, mags or firing stance? (Look, if you're firing 'from the hip' it matters OK?) When did it start doing this Failure to Feed? Until y'all answer ALL the above it will be a bit difficult to assist you.
  9. My 22" Saiga busts clays fine all day. Of course it's full choked too.
  10. Cheek...Nope Eye...Nope Nose... DAMN NEAR! I've got the Russian sidefolder sold here by Saiga-12.com and the folder hinge is on the left and sticks out quite a bit and really wants to bite my nose when firing 3" Magnum slugs. Proper stance and grip has certainly prevented several bloody nose incidents so far.
  11. You may or may not need to break in your Saiga. Just don't expect flawless performance until you've run quite a few rounds through it. My 2001 22" ran flawlessly from jump street with only one FTE (Low Brass #7 handed to me at a Turkey Shoot) in a thousand rounds. My brand new Romanian AK-47 needed a break-in (Due to Century gun-monkeys welding the gas piston). So take it out and shoot it with the correct gas setting. If it won't cycle crank the gas up to the '2' setting (More gas) until it breaks in.
  12. Did you adjust the gas setting to 2 ?
  13. OK I got it. Take the puck out and see if the gun cycles manually. If so the puck is jammed.
  14. I doubt you overgassed it causing your issues. Lemme ask you this, if you let the bolt carrier fly forward does the bolt lock without a shell in the chamber? How about WITH a shell in the chamber? You may have more than one issue so let's work on one thing at a time. Where are you in Md. ? I'm in southern A.A. county. PM me OK?

    FTC Issue

Why blame the gun when it's probably the magazine? But since you're getting rid of it I'll give you $500.00
  16. I had to do A and B as well. I started with jewlers files and soon saw that they were way too fine. I grabbed wife's fingernail board and 10 minutes later it was a done deal.
  17. For firearms? Hard to say. The 'Magic' ingedient in Slick 50 is a Zinc compound that Ford insisted be in the oils used in their engines using flat tappet cams. Without it the camshafts 'wiped' pretty quickly. All newer oils in automotive and truck grades already have it. If you want some of the stuff but don't want to pay $35.00+ for a quart you can get it in 16 Oz. at a Ford Dealer for cheap. Just ask for their Oil Additive. Same stuff. Who knows, it might be good for the fire control group or bottom of bolt carrier. But a dab of grease might do the same thing. Give it a try but keep

    Brass Sale

http://www.midwayusa.com/Search/Default.as...-_1-2-4_8-16-32 Magtech 12 Ga. Brass $21.99 for 25. Not bad.
  20. Welcome. I suggest buying a new in box Saiga then shooting it to ensure functionality and to break it in. If you have some common tools and a little skill you can easily do the conversion yourself to pistol grip. If you so choose there are some fine gunsmiths here that will be happy to convert it for you.
  21. Nope, voted Republican since before you were a stain on your Mom's panties. I drove Stock Cars. Seat belts help. I'll bet you don't wear yours. I buy my ciggies from the Indian Reservation. Screw the taxes.
  22. How many people have you read about in newspapers due to this? I mean honestly... there a LOT of idiots out there, and theres gotta be just as many guns... I'm not advocating a few CCs on the gas piston, but leaving a film won't hurt a damn thing. I agree 100%. A thin film to prevent corossion is fine. But douching the whole firearm is a different story. Oil grabs grit. And oiling the gas system is a poor practice.
  23. VW, We're TRYING to help you and assist others to the dangers of oiling the gas system of your Saiga. Think of it this way. Even if your Dad didn't get hurt doing something but told you not to do it would you listen? Many of us have been there OK? I do not want to read about you in the newspaper after folks tried to steer you right.
