  1. The rest of the story is that TWS was aware of the issue with the S308, and came up with a special takedown button/spring guide you could get to use with the .308. I bought it and found that it would not allow the button to seat properly, so I had to revert to the standard TWS button and use the buffer method as you do. For me the only thing that seems to have fixed the first found low/vertical stringing problem has been to remove metal from the gas tube until it is a little loose.
  2. If I wanted a bullpup I would probably wait for the 300 Blackout AUG that is supposed to be in the works.
  3. What do you have against Atlantic? Shipping policy is "FU for living in Alaska".
  4. I didn't watch the whole thing, but it looked to me like he ran a bunch of crap ammo through it and got some failures as a result. Most 9mm practice ammo is low powered. One of my 9mm carbines, the only ball ammo that will run it reliably is PRVI.
  5. One of the great things about the F-5 was that Northrop developed it on their own dime. Imagine that today!
  6. Probably would have bought that instead of my Scorpion EVO had it been available last year in time to beat 41F.
  7. Yeah, this is probably one of those times when it isn't a bad idea to contact the ATF. You are far from the first person to find himself moving out of state while waiting for a can to be approved.
  8. I hate to say it since there was a bunch of good info in this thread, but it's past time to lock it. Some dude who just wants to sell his Saiga gets his post edited and thread locked because rules, but this one that's for some reason a a big magnet for spammers, and hasn't had any worthwhile discussion in a while gets left open.
  9. If I have to dump a bear, that's what my .450 Marlin Guide Gun is for. Or the S-12, of course. A friend of mine actually did stop a brown bear with his S-12.
  10. I removed the barrel, and had a gunsmith thread it .578-28; he also shortened the magazine tube for me. The can is a Silencerco Octane 45HD with a .578-28 piston and fixed barrel spacer installed. There is more information about the conversion process here: http://www.theguncounter.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=26844
  11. I think I posted this in the NFA section a while back. I've had the can for a couple months but I haven't fired it suppressed yet. Between the weather being crap, and being wrapped up in buying a bigger house I just haven't had much opportunity to get to the range this winter.
  12. I find the method of loading the Henry to be unacceptable, even though it is probably a better made rifle than the Rossi otherwise. For my specific use, the magazine would not have worked at all with a silencer installed. The Henry is also not a reproduction or based on any original action to the best of my knowledge, if that matters at all to you.
  13. I am fairly happy with my Rossi (SBRed Ranch Hand), but it's a .45 Colt, not a .44 Mag. There are nicer quality M92 clones out there, but the Rossis work fine. Some of them start out a little rough cycling from what I understand, but Steve Young sells an action smoothing kit, or you can just cycle and shoot it a bunch. Mine was relatively smooth to begin with.
  14. Gun companies that do things that are counter to our rights and interests should be attacked. For a company or person who makes their living in the gun culture, the price of betrayal or putting their bottom line ahead of the right to bear arms (ala Bill Ruger) should be so high that nobody in their right mind would ever consider it.
  15. Call it what you will. There are many ways to combat tyranny and one is to take your money and property and go else ware if you can. If I'm holding a pair of two's and I know the other guy has three of a kind and an ace up his sleeve I don't keep raising. Besides, it's a lot easier shoveling wind than snow. Many good points. Also, fighting a fight just to be one of few in that fight while vastly outdumbered is not wise. Life it short, live it free, even if it means seeking refuge from tyranny. I'd rather be a free coward What they said... Life's too short. I know that's
  16. I modified one of the "ncstar" plunger type loaders and got it to work, but I don't remember if I only tested it with my FBMG mags or if I had CSSpecs by then, or if I tested it with both. But I do remember that I got it working with some form of 20 round S-308 mag.
  17. It's been going around. My take is that the deputy director wants to be the director, and the election made possible an unconventional tactic. Also, there's always been the open question of how many of "us" have succeeded in infiltrating ATFU.
  18. If the government were bullshitting us on this one, they would certainly have concocted a story in which nearly all of the perpetrators did not hail from "our partner in peace" Saudi Arabia.
  19. On the other hand, the petition might give us somewhat of a count of how many of those idiots there actually are.
