  1. I like the color choice on the furniture...looks great! Keith is good people, he converted my S12 to a side folder and I'm quite happy with it. Congrats on your S12 Z
  2. Gunbroker is a great place to go if you want to pay more than you have to. Sometimes you get deals but not often, usually it's run of the mill crap that's waaaaaay overpriced. It can be useful to buy or sell speciality items though, sometimes you can find things there that are nearly non existant elsewhere. Otherwise I steer clear of GB. Z
  3. Congrats, sounds like fun! Any pics? Z
  4. Did someone say S12 SVDS? Mine is just parked and not painted, it came out really smooth. Keith is indeed great to work with, if there are problems he's quick to make it right, he stands behind his work and he's one of the people in the business that really seems to enjoy what he does (as opposed to it being a business only). And Raoul and I had a riot of a good time at ASC with our S12's. Mine is exactly my dream S12 but Raoul's is so fricken sweet, I couldn't believe an S12 could be tweaked to be so good. It ran so smooth if it were painted yellow I'd swear it
  5. That's ingenuitive as hell, I like it. Really nice work This, great job Z
  6. It does look interesting, thanks for the link. I would consider getting one (especially at that price) because I really like that style of light mounting. On a Krink they fit great and are easy to use when mounted to a side rail, but my main reason for not keeping the X300 on my Krink is heat. I'm sure the light can probably take it but after 75-100 rounds of sustained fire my SLR107UR with Samson rail is way too hot to touch, so I have to run a stubby grib to compensate. That puts my thumb in a less than ergonomical position for the toggle switch that these light use, however for a home
  7. Russian magwell and 8 round mag 5.5mm trunnion and correct S12 front latch SVDS type folder Izzy PG CSS replica 10 slot flash hider Russian S12 front sight post Dinzag gas tube mod Z
  8. No light mounted to my S12 because it's not my go-to gun, but I have G2 LED's for my 2 AK SBR's and they work great. I don't make it a habit to beat my lights up but I've always heard good stuff about the G2, I think it will hold up just fine. Also a big fan of the X300, have one on my XD40 on the night stand...I have to say it's actually my favorite weapon light. Only problem is price, at 3x the cost of a G2 I just don't feel it's 3x as good. Better, but not 3x. Z
  9. The button above the PG, next to the hinge Z
  10. What's not true about no one making anything other than a side rail with weaver or picatinny mount? The link posted is a side rail mount......with 2 rails on it Z
  11. I wouldn't file anything, too easy to get carried away and mess up the mag or the magwell. Mine are tight enough not to drop free and require a little hand pressure for them to drop out, but loading is easy, it just takes a vertical motion and they snap right in. I was inserting them til I could feel resistance and then slapping the follower ala M16 style but I've found it's easier just to use a quick upward 'stabbing' motion, they lock in great that way. Z
  12. Does anyone other than Tony even make S12 SBS's? Can't recall ever seeing one actually. (other than the red jacket above lol) Z
  13. It's designed for combloc optics and is very effective as a mounting solution for the scopes that the Russian miltary uses on it. When western manufacturer's get involved it's to make a side rail mount that has a picatinny or weaver rail which lets you mount compatible western optics or devices. Basically it's a pure combloc designed rail and no one over here makes anything specific for it other than the side mount weaver/pic setup. Z
  14. But whatever you do, don't go with those people who promote various packages including ''our reliability service'' Stay the hell away, seriously. On a side note, why don't you convert it yourself, then send it off later for welding details and refinishing? The conversion isn't hard, it will teach you a lot about your S12 and you will save a decent amount of money doing it. I'm glad I did my own S12 and 7.62x39 rifle myself, but I had no problem sending them off for the welded holes and other stuff I am not able to do on my own. Z
  15. And the factory magwell mags are extremely rare, plus expensive. If I had a conventional Saiga conversion I wouldn't have had the magwell installed on mine, there is nothing wrong with the standard mags and they work great. I was going for a specific end result which is the only reason I had one installed. Z
  16. +1 to this. I have ordered a few hundred bucks worth of stuff in several batches, never had to wait longer than about 3 days to get my goodies. CSS has my respect, Greg runs his business right. Z
  17. Raoul and I met up at ASC yesterday and had a heck of a good time, I got to shoot his S12 with this trigger mod...way way cool. It works extremely well and I am thoroughly impressed. I own a variety of AK's and have shot a crapload more but this trigger mod is the neatest one I have seen by far. I never knew an AK trigger could be so sweet (they are what they are) but this mod simply rocks. Will definately be modding my S12 and quite possibly my 5.45 Krink too...the short pull of the trigger makes for a great double tap too, helps you get stay on target better. Z
  18. You can have mine, I never reinstalled it after the conversion and got along just fine without it. Now that I have the magwell installed I have no use whatsoever for it. Can you fit a can of beer in an envelope? PM inbound Z
  19. It came out beautiful! The hand guards work nicely with the stock, it's very clean. Z
  20. You can get the non folding polymer triangle stock here though, fits stamped receivers great: http://www.gunmallusa.com/gunmallusa/prepa...umber=AKKRST-E1 Z
  21. I really like the standard thin AK grips but the izzy is perfect for the S12. To me it seems like it helps you get a stronger grip which helps balance the weapon. They certainly are comfy and I suspect they are designed with the heavier recoil of the S12 in mind. I've also seen them on arfcom, a couple guys have them on their Krink's and have commented how much they like them. Z
  22. This weekend I have to play it by ear, but normally I prefer to be on the ground around 08:00 when they open. I'm up for 2 or 3 but can't commit for sure til later this week because of some of wife's relatives coming in from overseas. The Krinks are 7.62 (SLR107UR) and a bulgy 5.45 I finally got my stamp for, and maybe my 7.62 Saiga I also need to break in. I'll let you know via PM later in the week but I'm always open to meeting for a shoot, so I'll swing it if I can. Z
  23. G2 trigger, DPH 10 slot flash hider from CSS, US hand guards and just to be on the safe side I ordered a CHAOS puck. Since I'm only going to be using 8 round magwell mags I have to be sure it's compliant on it's own. I haven't heard of anyone being prosecuted for 922r but I'm not going to be the test case Z
