"How to" video request, factory 5 round to 6 round
SaigaNoobie replied to menace667's topic in Saiga-12
Honestly, I'd recommend just buying an 8, 10 or 12 round mag from one of the vendors. #1, it won't screw up your mag, and #2 you'll get more capacity out of it AND US mags are 3 "Compliance" parts, if you haven't converted yet. -
Polychoke is the best option. http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-MUZZLE-BRAKES-dsh-COMPS/Categories I personally have the "Vented" version. But any of them will work. CSS is a good dealer and will ship in a timely fashion. May I suggest you shop their site to look for other items you may want. I always find more there. ~SN

Anybody skeet with a pump and red dot?
SaigaNoobie replied to rocinante's topic in Other Weapons - SHOTGUNS (non-AK based)
I've shot Trap with the Saiga-12 and a Poly-Choke. Works well enough. When I went regularly I could do 23+ every round (out of 25) with the old S-12. -
I have a 2 3/4" Factory 5rd mag that i'd let go for a 3" 5rd mag.PM me.

I am looking for a Ghost ring/front sight combo. I just wanted to check to see if anyone had a set they wanted to sell before I order from Krebs/Carolina Shooters. http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-272/Krebs-Saiga-12-Custom/Detail See the link for the item I'm talking about. ~SN

When and where will these be for sale?

I only argue the statement that a sheered lug failure results in a bolt carrier being thrust into your skull. I don't argue that any reduction in the bolt lugs can cause sheering eventually/possibly.
-
"would generate approximately five times the design pressure of firearms" Hhhrmmm. 300,000 PSI... yep, that'd probably destroy a bolt and turn it into shrapnel. Moral of the story, don't put five times the powder into your .308. Thanks for that advice Santanatwo! Oh and "Metal that is subjected to excessive force will form micro cracks, which get bigger over time until the part fails. In this case the part that will fail is holding ~50,000 PSI in a about ~0.33 square inched, that's ~150,000 PSI, pointed right at your face. IF you are lucky the top cover will blow off and so

Citations, how do they work?

How fast does an AK bolt & bolt carrier move? 600 rounds per minute? So that's 10 cycles per second? How far must the bolt carrier move to extract? 3"+ at least. So for argument's sake (Since i have no S-308 in front of me) let's say that in 1/10th of a second the bolt moves 3" to the rear and then 3" back forward. (Please view: ) Notice how it takes about half as long for the bolt to move to the rear as it does to move back forward. 1/30th of a second to move 3" back, 2/30ths of a second to come back forward. 4/30ths of a second to move 1'. Seven and a half feet in a second. 7.5FPS.

TTR, as a long time member and owner of many aftermarket pucks... I'd say the best is the MDarms Booster. Unless you have an overgassed gun already.

I have the Colt Mustang .380 MkIV Series 80.... I carry it every day (This is the Colt version of the P238) It's a great gun, shoots much better than my buddy's Keltech and Rugers in .380. I'd buy one of these if i din't own the colt.

My gun finally ran 50 rounds with no Failures to extract... this on a mildly under-gassed 20ga. i'd say it does work. im stoked. thanks mike d.

Variations in AK accuracy by manufacturer: Reasons?
SaigaNoobie replied to stud40111's topic in Other AK Rifles
PLEASE TAKE NOTE: These videos are of Milled receivers... they still flex. Don't waste your money on "Milled" receivers for better rigidity... I'm not saying that a stamped receiver doesn't flex and affect accuracy to some infinitesimal degree, but I think people greatly exaggerate the actual effects of this. Most of what you see in those slow motion videos is the cleaning rod and magazine bouncing around, not the receiver. To the extent that the receiver does flex, the bullet's probably long gone, and the bolt has already unlocked and ejected the cartridge. Most of what -

Dude, for the 600 yard target, just set the leaf sight to 600 and it's close enough. (yes i shot the 600 yard target with irons as well but with worse results) -
Variations in AK accuracy by manufacturer: Reasons?
SaigaNoobie replied to stud40111's topic in Other AK Rifles
I've shot my 7.62x39 Saiga with a scope and hit 18" plates at 600 yards.(With a 3-9x optic). (about 60% of the time i'd hit the plate.) Now, hitting a 12" plate at the same distance was almost impossible. (think i hit it 10% of the time) I'm an average size guy and my torso is only 14" wide. SO i'd reckon that a 400-500 yard Maximum effective range for the 7.62x39 Saiga. (Mine has a 20" barrel Btw) If you really want better accuracy, buy better ammo. The Saiga already has one of the best Factory AK barrels you can find. Don't waste your money on "Milled" receivers. They add w -
Variations in AK accuracy by manufacturer: Reasons?
SaigaNoobie replied to stud40111's topic in Other AK Rifles
First and foremost, the real accuracy is found in ammo. My Saiga .308 can shoot really well with good .308 ammo, and can shoot really poorly with Brown-Bear cheapo steel cased ammo. I'm talking 1.25" groups with good ammo and 6" groups with crap @ 100 yards. Now, that aside, the things that make one gun more accurate are: Heavier Barrel - Allowing for less expansion when the barrel heats up, thus keeping the barrel more consistent shot-to-shot. Tighter Lockup - When the bolt locks into the lugs, the more consistent this happens, the more accurate. Trigger - A better trigger w -
