  1. hamerforged..... great idea! I haven't looked around as i was going to use a mag adapter and AR mags. I have 6 orlite poly mags and a bullet guide right now. Are the 5.45x39 cheap and easy to come by? got to love this forum.
  2. I am working on getting my old eyes updated with contacts to see the sights better. Its been a long process to find the right ones. still haven't got them dialed in so my bench shooting is not its best. I agree with you about the rifle being built to last. I have been shooting my 7.62. I still need to get my life in order to dedicate time for the range again and get a chance to blast around with the .223 here is a link to the Krebs peep http://www.krebscustom.com/PartsPages/KalashnikovParts.shtml scroll down to find. These guys really have their stuff together check them out.
  3. hmmmm!!! i already have the Krebs peep but i don't want to ruin the barrel. looks like i may be shopping for the SGM in the near future. I never put the same emphasis on the barrel harmonics to this weapon as i did when bedding my swedish Mauser. I don't know why... must have been a brain fart.... Or i must have been so fixated on heat/melting management i lost sight of that concept. thanks for shielding my eyes from the Bright Light.... Makes all the sense in the world.
  4. I have been thinking alot about your comment on the UTG handguard. I like to try to shot my irons to the best of my ablility and i think the UTG is really messing with accuracy. how has the SGM been holding up? does it get to hot to handle with rapid fire? smoke or melt? thanks in advance.

  5. I wander why the 5.45 saiga is no longer available? Anyone?
  6. you filed the safety lever correct? Mine does have some contact on the disconnecter as it is being installed but with a little push it clears and then the right trigger leg needs to be cleared. Not by much. Just enough to allow safety lever to work. It is at this point that the safety lever works. When you raise the safety lever it blocks the right leg of the trigger and keeps it from lifting and consequently keeping the trigger from releasing. Once you push the safety lever down it moves behind the trigger leg and allows trigger to work. Let us know how its going. Pics Sorry abo
  7. take the but stock off look through the back of the weapon to see where the safety is being hindered. My guess it will be on the right side leg of the trigger legs where the hammer mainspring rests. http://www.cross-conn.com/Saiga_Conversion/Step_7.htm read down to paragraph 8. see how the hammer spring sits on the right side of the trigger? same side as the safety lever. I think that is where your lever is hanging up. hope this helps. more references: even better shot of what i am talking about: 5th pic downhttp://www.stu-offroad.com/firearms/saiga/saiga-8.htm http:
  8. what Jim said. the power retainer plates should be super easy as it just slides in the retainer pin groves. The safety lever may need some light encouragement as you pull trigger turn safety lever up it should pass over disconnecter with some friction. I don't remember if i had to take a little of the bottom right edge of the safety lever of the 7.62 when i installed the G2 trigger. I know i did with the S12 conversion. If there is no way that the safety lever will move then you will have to file the right edge of the safety lever to pass over the arm of the trigger that the hammer mainspr
  9. I tend to lean with big Sal on more ammo and guns then cash, yet at the same time you will need something to barter with so i guess silver is on the agenda just as soon as my ammo stash reaches its acceptable maintenance level and my gear is purchased. ammoman came down to 219 delivered on the wolf.
  10. well if don't already have the S12 I'd say go that route first. You already have the 7.62 end covered. Having a 12 gauge that can use 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells light to heavy and slugs is hard to beat. conversion the same. Reliability issues are easier as everyone has already documented solutions. Mags are not as much of an issue anymore. MD 20 round drums and from what i hear the promag 12 round drums are doing well. I have several 8 and 10 round surefire mags/apg mags and a couple 20 round drums. This weapon can give you cheap plinking fun, hunting all types and serious defensive capabili
  11. well mine had all characteristics and wasn't threaded. I have since done so using dinzag rental. pretty easy. Now the .223 my son in law gave me looks like it may be threaded. I haven't looked at anything else but end of the muzzle. My 7.62 muzzle end was slightly flatter and outer edges of the barrel were not rounded. Kind of hard to explain. The .223 on the other hand has a larger gap between the barrel and shroud and outer edges of barrel look rounded. I am going to wait for a while before i take that shroud off. The discipline will do me good. Besides i just quit smoking after 40
  12. I know this going to sound silly but i have done this in haste on several occasions. (hommer simpson moment doooooogh!) Make sure you have take the bolt out the gas piston is housed in the gas tube. next look at the gas tube as you rotate the lever it is a half moon shape make sure the flat side is facing the gas tube. The gas tube should then just pull up.
  13. Better check/change your panties, cause your pussy is bleeding again... STFU! EDIT: Fucking dumbass noobs... Mike is the Supplier/Manufacturer/Wholesaler of his product to the various Retailers/Dealers. If you like kissing a manufacturer's ass because he builds a product you like that's fine with me. My direct experience with MD arms of ordering accessories directly off their web site is one of having to listen to pathetic excuses about how busy they are. Well hire more fucking people then, idiots. Worst attitude and customer service I have seen in the weapons accessory market. I
  14. don't say that too loud there are those on this board that don't think it is possible with an AK or saiga. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=54720&st=30
  15. They insert just as easy as any other mag no real issues. super difficult to perform quick mag change like the link to videos demonstrate. the bolt actually hinders that type of quick change. the bolt with all of the recoil springs weight is pressing up against the BHO follower. It can be done but much more effort and cumbersome. Easier to remove by hand and yes the blot slams forward then you have to insert fresh mag. Much easier to perform quick mag change like the links show with new mag in hand..strip out old mag and insert fresh mag.
  16. The bolt hold open feature is great for the range but try to do a quick mag change. It is a hole different story. I think metal mags with replacement followers that don't hold the bolt open and circle tens are what i would want for any other work i may require of my weapon. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?showtopic=54804 and any other reference to quick mag change for AK on youtube. Then try that with the bolt hold open mags. JMHO
  17. I have never really heard of a saiga being in that condition. Play it Safe contact RAA to get them to fix. They are super responsive.
  18. Interesting....more pics different angles or maybe a tutorial of what and how you did it.
  19. Maybe its and individual weapon thing. If you view some of the converted pics in the gallery the SAW has a recess where the trigger guard should probably be close to flush against. I loosened my grip nut screw pushed a little harder and the grip slide a little bit more forward so that recess butted up against the rear of the trigger guard. Tighten the grip nut down. Before i didn't notice and mine was perfectly fine in the same position yours is. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?app=gallery&module=images&section=viewimage&img=2587 see how the grip is not behind the re
  20. I have converted my S12, 7.62 and .223. does the conversion make the weapon operate any better probably not. Is the weapon more ergonomic converted... absolutely. IS the new trigger smoother and will it have an impact on accuracy yes. If you want to convert to hi cap mags do you need to do full conversion I don't think so. You will need to do research, as you would still have to meet the 922 compliance and i think you can do that without full conversion. Personally i like the feel of the weapon better converted. Bottom line it is all a personal issue.
  21. I am with you. It seems RAA is missing a market niche
  22. I just didn't push my grip all the way forward so the front grip edges would surround the rear of trigger guard. No fuss no muss.
  23. how are you guys getting your SAW grip so close to the trigger? Is your grip nut angle towards the trigger or away when installing SAW grip? I may have to look at how i install mine. The front leading edge of my grip just barely cover rear portion of trigger guard.
