  1. Great guy to do business with. Would not hesitate buying from him in the future. The Saiga 12 was in great shape and a great price.
  2. Hello Mechsterbator, Sorry but I picked up the S-12 this afternoon ;-) It was in fantastic shape. Now I just have to figure out if I want to cut this one down or reconfigure one of my others. Decision, decisions..... Carlos was a great guy to deal with so deal with confidence. He mentioned that he had sold the .308 but still had the 7.62
  3. The numbers started at 200 buy many folks bought more than one. As of this evening, I still have not received a tracking number and I am #219. Per one of the other threads someone in 18 in front of me bought 100. Not sure if that was a true statement or not. I will post up as soon as i get my tracking #.
  4. I'm #219 and still waiting for the tracking number Unless the 18 folks in front of me bought more than 6 drums each then I should be good to go Am checking my in-box hourly.....
  5. I don't see anything wrong with that one. The thread protector is not considered a muzzle device. As such, a stock Saiga-12 supposedly has 13 parts as per ATF. If I remove the mag and replace with an AGP mag (3 parts), I am left with 10 parts which is perfectly legal.
  6. Ben is great. I ordered a Romy G from him several months back. What I got was in less than stellar shape. Based on my experience with other vendors, I really dreaded "the call" and trying to explain that the rifle was not to the described standards. When I called, Ben apologized profusely. He said that one of his workers accidentally shipped out to customers a stack of rifles that were supposed to have been sent back to the manufacturer. He completely made everything right and sent me a couple of extra mags for my troubles. I would not hesitate using him in the future. You have to take his web
  7. I'll take the Saiga-12 FTF in North San Antonio as per our conversation. Thanks.
  8. I lived in Taiwan for several years (Hsinchu and Taipei) and was actually in the crowd watching the Presidential inauguration in 2000. They were using their anti-aircraft flak guns for the 21 gun salute. I did not think much about it until I noticed that next to the blanks was stacks of live rounds My wife is Taiwanese and has both friends and family directly associated with the government. No-one is really worried about being attacked by China. Their view is that if China attacked, the island would be lost in less than 24 hours. However, there are two primary deterants to China attacking
  9. I ordered mine on February 11th and they cashed my check on February 16th. At the time the S12s were supposedly "in-house being checked into the system" and was going to ship to me within 10 days. Haven't heard anything since. Just been patiently waiting.
  10. EV-219 here I took my converted S-12 out to the local high-falutin Trap and Skeet club (it was a company "team building" exercise) and was using just the standard Russian mag. Got all types of dirty looks from the folks with the "expensive guns" Next time I am bringing the drum just so i can watch all the 80 year old FUDDS shake their head in disgust
  11. I prefer the Ergo. My only problem is that for the life of me I can't figure out how to keep the rubber bottom grip-plug to stay in I don't want to glue it in because I want to be able to take grip off in the future. I would also prefer not to cut it off since the big open hole on the bottom of the grip just looks "wrong". I did not have to do any modifications to the grip when using it with the Tromix trigger guard except add about a half dozen washers so that the bolt did not bottom out.
  12. If Centerfire is selling them for $530 then there is pretty much zero chance you are going to find one at a Mom-and-Pop for the $500-ish range. I am guessing that the typical Mom-and-Pop that don't know what they have will be in the $600-ish range and those that do know what they have will be more like $650-$700. Your best bet is to go to your local FFL and have them order one for you direct from the Distributor. That's how I got mine about a year ago.
  13. I am not sure if this counts as bait and switch or not. You would have to prove that they had never intended to honor the given price which may or may not be difficult to do. However, if you paid for these in advance with a check, then US contract law clearly applies. As soon as they cash the check then a "contract to sell" has been established which has a hard and fast agreed-upon price. If they break that contract, they may then be liable for loss of "opportunity cost" as well. Since they send flyers to my house, that becomes a solicitation to sell which means my local County has juridi
  14. That's funny. You would think that they would at least use the correct picture. I won't be buy any at $529 but at least it beats the $700+ that they have been going for on GB. So I really wonder how many S-12s came in? You have to figure that CenterFire had probably 900 or so pre-orders. Of those, maybe 1/3 cancel so that still leaves 600 already pre-sold. Being that they are still taking back-orders you would have to think that they are planning/hoping to get 1000+ pieces just themselves over the next few months. Anyone have a feel for what a "usual" shipment from the Saiga facto
  15. They cashed my check back in January so if they tell me "it is going to be $50 more" I will just tell them "Fine. I charge 39% interest on my money compounded daily. Please send me a check for $28 when you send me my new S-12 and we will be even"
  16. I finally finished my first S-12 conversion this afternoon. Far more of PITA than I expected even with the Tromix trigger guard. The challenges I ran into from most challenging to least was: 1) Trimming the stupid ACE internal block. With all the drilling and trimming I had to do on the thing I might as well have just started with a solid block of aluminum You actually have to do three separate things to the internal block. First, you have to trim the front "legs" of the block by about 1/8" so that they will clear the internal rails. Second, you have to drill out and/or Dremel out a gr
  17. Hmmm.... Never got that e-mail. I ordered one back in mid-January. At that point in time they had told me they expected my order to be filled within two weeks. They cashed my check back in January so hopefully no chance that they will try to raise the price on me.
  18. It will all depend on your FFL and how they interpret the "straw purchase" clause as it relates to Question #1. Technically speaking, a straw purchase at least in the state of Texas is when one person purchases a firearm at the request of someone who is not legally allowed to purchase the firearm themselves (i.e., felon, under-age, not legal state resident, etc.). However, as a CYA most FFLs will only transfer to the person whose name is on the invoice. I had this problem with an FFL last year. The FFL had seen my wife several times before and knew she was my wife. However, he would not l
  19. If you only use the AGP mag or have no mag in the gun then you are compliant. However, the second you put in a Russian Saiga mag then you are two parts our of compliance. You are going to have to change out the trigger group anyway in order to put on the saw grip so just use a Tapco and then you can use whatever mag you want.
  20. I would like to second the comment on an 11-round. As for price, $100 max. I got way more AGP mags than I know what to do with but a smaller drum might be interesting.
  21. Sorry, you are not a true Saiga convert until you have a Saiga-12. Now those things are as addictive as crack. Being able to dump 10 rounds (soon to be 20) of 12 gauge as fast as you can pull the trigger definitely gets everyone's attention. Of course, things go down hill QUICKLY from there: RedDragon .308, S-.410, a couple of 7.62s, S-12s, ..... Damn, I didn't realize I had that many Saigas until I started typing this..... Ouch, I am an addict....
  22. Hello GOB, You need better glasses or a better computer monitor If you look closely the extractor is exactly where it should be. The picture from IndyArms matches mine exactly. I appreciate the concern but am pretty much good-to-go at this point. With the Winchester ammo the S-.410 extracts just fine
  23. This is the reason I live in Texas. If I see someone climbing out of my neighbor's house with an arm-full of stuff, I would not hesitate to confront them and I would expect my neighbors to do the same for me. If they hit the ground and stay spread-eagle until the cops arrive (probably a good 20+ minutes where I live), then they will live. If not, "Oh, well". They made their choice. If they are stupid enough to make a run for it, they are stupid enough to try and break into my house next time. There is no way I am giving them that opportunity.
  24. Last week I contacted DKG Trading/Zanders Sporting Goods who is the importer of the Nobel ammo. Customer service was absolutely fantastic. I sent them the pics of the bulged rounds and the response was "That is not supposed to happen. Go ahead and destroy those rounds and we will send you a replacement. Would you prefer Remington on Winchester". Today a new case of Winchester High Brass 3" #4 was delivered to my house via UPS. I am a happy camper now. I now know that my S-.410 is functioning properly and have 250 rounds of "the good stuff" to throw down-range this weekend Because of a
  25. I got one since my wife wanted something slightly lighter and with less kick than my S-12. Now that I have the ammo issue figured out, it should work well for that purpose.
