  1. Whose receiver did you use? Or did you make your own from a flat? Very nice build. I have one that I bought built, love it.
  2. Save your money and buy a Saiga 223 or 7.62x39. High cap mags are expensive, accuracy is so-so, take down complicated. The only good iron sights were on the models no longer in production with military click apareture sights. I had one and sold it within months.
  3. Bought a surplus, cosmoline impregnated Yugo 59/66 two years ago. Great gun, still stinks of cosmoline though. Paid $149 for all matching serial numbers, bright bore and only minor dings to stock. Shoots great. If you can find one, buy it.
  4. BTW, has anyone used Dexron type ATF fluid for lube? I heard it is a good alternative, just never tried it myself. I will look into the 5-30 Synthetic stuff as I have spent too much on CLP over the past few years.
  5. Hmm, well the trigger is supposed to be held in place by a pin, not the hole, just like on a regular AK. The positioning of the pin and engagement with the hammer are the telling parts. Yes, a trigger hole should be larger then a slot for the actual trigger part your finger sits on. I am pretty sure the all the factory holes are within spec. Also, the hammer does require a bit of fitting. I had to use a Dremel on mine to make sure it pivots freely on the hammer pivot pin. It is just a minor fitting. Make sure that your hammer, sear and safety engage properly or else you could have an unsaf
  6. Nope, M-16 and it's variants tend to jam every 60 rounds according to latest tests. lol. I wonder how many US troops have been killed due to their weapon having a stoppage since McNamara pushed it down the DOD's throat.
  7. Might look at Cheaper Then Dirt, their three mag AR-15 pouches fit two FBMG mags so they might fit three or four standard 8 rounders. Cost is around $7 per pouch, quite affordable.
  8. I have a Century built Galil knock off and I would like some of the smaller capacity mags like those for the Saiga 223 so I can shoot it prone. ANyone know if the Saiga mags will work in a Galil?
  9. I have both a Savage 10FP and a Remington 700 SPS Tactical with an 18" barrel. Great guns, easy to find parts and work on both. The Remington 700 tacticals were designed to compete with the FN SPR and PBR. Another nice thing is that Hogue is coming out with a overmoulded synthetic stock for the Savage. I also agree that the CZ is a great gun but I never shot the varmint model. One caveat if you buy an older Savage with the flat receiver you wil have a hard time getting a good picatinny base for it as just about everyone converted to the round receiver model.
  10. I like Glocks, they make really good door stops. As far as them being a good gun, nope as they have the ergonomics of a 2x4 and a trigger only a bean counter lawyer would like. Glocks are the MicroSoft of the gun world, good for newbies or people who are not advanced skill wise to shoot real guns and Hollywood mythology. There is something intrinsically wrong with a gun that leaves railroad track marks on the back of my hand if I shoot it with a proper grip, after 100 rounds I have bloody railroad track. Gaston Glock, fix your bloody gun. Way behind on the ergonomics curve.
  11. All of my FBMG mags worked 100 %, no flaws, stoppages or other problems. Do the conversion, you will be happy that you did. Remember, Hilary will probably make the parts illegal to sell later so get it done while you can.
  12. I have slight wobble but no effect on reliability. As far as I know all AK style mags exhibit a bit of wobble due to loose tolerances, which is what makes the AK system such a reliable gun. This in no way effects the function of AKs worldwide. If the fit was tight then all of the different Warsaw Pact countries would have had a heck of a logistics problem making sure mags were interchangeable.
  13. I drilled a bigger hole in my disconnecter for the original disconnecter spring in a G2 group. It can be done and it does work. So far I have seen no impact on life and functionality. Otherwise it is like the others said, easiest of the conversions.
  14. I found a pouch that works for the FBMG 20 rounders. I have a couple of old style 30 round AR-15 3 mag pouches with ALICE clips that I bought at Cheaperthendirt a few years ago. If you cut out the seperators for the 30 round mags you can put two of the FBMG mags into each puch and close the top. The mags fit in perpendicular to the direction the AR mags would have fit, that is the trick, you have to cut the nylon mag seperators. Anyway, this is the way to do it if you are looking for pouches.
  15. Probably true, and it is a good test of how bad things have gone when we start disappearing without a trace. The problem is that unless you are willing to take the risk of disappearing and giving up all you have you can not really be considered a supporter of the foundations of this nation. I would prefer a quiet and peaceful life, but I also do not want to have the peace a sheep does in the field. At the end of that life is still the butchers knife, no matter how peaceful the preceding years. If we fear speaking our minds do we not lose that which is the essential freedom of this land? Is n
  16. Your lack of knowledge of history and current events is astounding. There are multiple examples of what you said would not happen happening in the near past and now. I suggest you sniff what you are trying to shovel here.
  17. I grew up where it was bad, on the other side of the "Iron Curtain", and believe you me, this country is headed that way real fast unless something is done about the jagoffs in DC. I don't just mean the democrats, I mean both parties, democrat AND republican. They are all one and the same as far as government for the people by the people is concerned. How are a bunch of multimillionaire primadonnas goign to ever represent the common man? They have no frame of reference. The reason they keep passing new laws designed to eavesdrop on the citizenry of this country and to curtail their rights i
  18. Real nice. Was it originally one of the Century AMD_65 knock offs? I have a AMD 65 build from a parts kit. Where did you find the rear stock and how did you rig up the front trigger mechanism. Just Curious. Now you have me thinking of playing with my Saiga 308 some more. I figure one could utilize the scope mount on the left side to cook up a removable cheek rest so you did not have to have it against dust cover. Anyway, yeah that is what I am thinking about.
  19. Just curious. I got the bull pup bug last night again after reading about the Kel-Tek rifle again. I have seen the AK bull pups sold by Century and think there is much room for improvement. It would need a better trigger linkage then the wire used in those kits. Just curious if anyone ever considered one.
  20. These pistols do have a manual safety. It's up inside the trigger guard at the front. You have to pay attention to engage it, but it is disengaged with your trigger finger. The original M series had the safety, - think they did away with the manual safety on the MA-1 series. I was under the impression that oyu could still get one with the safety, but hat was a special order. I may of course be wrong - have not handled an MA-1 in person, just seen them You are right, the new models do not have the safety. It was an abortion where it was placed anyway, hard to manipu
  21. There are also the CZ-83s which can be gotten in satin nickle finish. My wife loves hers which is chambered for 9x18 Makarov. I carry one in the hot summer months when a full size gun is hard to hide.
  22. Yeah the Taurus PT92 and PT99 are good guns. I have and older PT99 which only has the frame mounted safety, no decocker ability and love it. For under $400 they are great service pistols and quite accurate. Most people do not know that this was the original Beretta 92 design and that Tauruses were made on original Beretta factory tooling. Why Beretta added a slide mounted decocker I will never know (actually, I do know but that does nto sound so good hehe).
  23. In WA (Washington State) it is actually no selective fire/full auto parts bing in possesion, not just M-16 bolts, anything that is a full auto part. Just buying a parts kit with auto trigger parts could get you a felony conviction. Most distributors were not aware of that or did not care until a couple of years ago. I almost got in trouble for buying a HK G3 Kit back in 2000. I say we all go to New Hampshire where they still value freedom.
