Well this is a bitter sweet day. The MD-20 Test Release Drum came this morning.....that's the sweeeeeeet part. The bitter part is that Mrs. 1911 informed me that we have a wedding to go to and I cannot play today. I must say that the drum looks magnificent but action & function testing will have to wait. Thanks Mike!

That's a Tromix selector stop.

1911 I hear ya loud and clear on that bittersweet thing...the very first time I got to fire mine was a "20 gun salute" to my best friend. I didn't even want to open the box when I first got it but changed my mind when I saw how much our buddy Mike spent to overnight the package to me ($21.40). I decided to honor him and Max with using it for the first time at the funeral. Almost a 21 gun salute all in one loading!

I'm going to head out today to try it again in my other S-12s. I'll post some more drum porn then.

Gary....kiss my grits! :haha:

Well, after recovering from the crushing disappointment of not being one of the selected testers (heh, heh, heh......),

I can at least take a little solace in the fact that Tony is using my TROMIX 10" SBS as one of the guns he's testing the drum with !!!!

It won't be long now !!!!!

(maybe my number will come up !!! Sitting with clenched teeth and crossed fingers !!)

I received one today as well. This drum is extremely well made. It's lightweight, very similar to a USAS drum however it is beefed up and appears much to be a much more durable design. Rounds are a bit more difficult to load then a USAS drum, but once loaded up, the mechanism raises the subsequent rounds with authority. They snap up into place under the feed lips and feed slicker then shit into every Saiga-12 I installed it in. I know Mike has plans to tweak some minor stuff on the drum, but personally, it looks good to go as-is. I will be ordering more of these, no doubt.

Great job, Mike!

I'll have pics on the Tromix website shortly, with a link over to MD Arms.

Well, since I don't have a drum yet, I guess I'll have to console myself by taking my new 1917A1 watercooled beltfed .30 out and delink some ammo with it. That is, as soon as the ground is dry enough that the tripod doesn't sink in the mud.

.........bitch................

YOU SUCK!!!!!!!

AAaaawwww, don't be upset just because mine is bigger than yours is lol :haha:

And just so you all KNOW. The drum is REALLY not mine, he just thought it would be funny to have me open a package that came for HIM and CALL it MY birthday present. He is NOT off the hook, my birthday is not until Friday. But I don't want flowers and/or jewelry as per Topmaul's post in my "birthday present" thread ;)

we abused the hell out of one today through what? 7 guns?

Info I presume will be sent along to MD so that you all get a GOOD PRODUCT in the end-user game. There should be some good info and feedback going to Mike from the shoot today. I think that we had a very good pass at it, with the guys that were there, that know about saiga-12's and use them regularly and such. We all discussed a lot of aspects and other things that we noticed, and I think, based on Mike D's attitude about his drum, and the other product testers' data, the end user product will be killer :)

BE PATIENT JUST A BIT MORE YOU WHINERS.

Mike has a little more work to do, but he is just about there. He is not spitshining a turd. Nor is he making a doorstop, that much I can tell you.

Rounds are a bit more difficult to load then a USAS drum

This was the first thing that I noticed when playing with the drum. I have found an excellent solution that really makes the drum a breeze to load. I had an old tube of Official Cub Scout Axle Lube Graphite left over from building Pinewood Derby cars with my son 18 or so years ago. Of course any graphite powder would work. I rubbed the entire surface of the dummy round liberally with graphite and tried loading again. This time it was quite easy to load all 20 rounds by simply pressing down the previously loaded round with my palm (right hand) and then holding it down with my index finger (left hand) and inserting the next round (righ hand). I hope that's clear because it really made things quite pleasant.

Where did you get that forend????????? It looks like a Halo forend with only one picatinny rail. And it looks black instead of carbon fiber.

It's a black molly Halo with utg rail covers.

Makes for a pretty fat forend.. but I like it.

Want me to e-mail you a pictorial diagram? How about a video? Anything to help you out my friend. If you like I can have the short bus pick you up and bring you over for a demonstration.
