I just hate to see some of the utility of the site sacrificed due to this transgression. After all someone on this site clued me in to a local store that had .223 at $145/M. I bought 5,500 rounds! I would think that a non-competing product should not be problematic. On the other hand I think that Mods should have the power to pull any post that is injurious to the board. Ever try to find a soft case that fits a scoped 20" converted Saiga? It's hard, and so far I've only found one that fits without being a total ripoff (I'm sorry, but $60+ for a soft case is insane). The vendors on this site tend to focus on more "hard goods" that are specifically for the Saiga, and often miss needed things like that. Bye!!!!! I personally believe that ammo and hard to find items are a different matter.... Due to folks not cracking down on "non vendors" and "supporting" the hacks buy buying from them... The answer is of course that you can't, you can only do your best. No one was killed in the recent incident, I even doubt that there was a loss of money. I do not think that omnipresent, no matter how nice a power it may be, is necessary to do the job. The "forced" making of draconian rules in response to a limited incident is a well worn and proved way to destroy any institution. What we had here is one guy that was bound and determined to promote his friend, no matter what the wishes of board management. The resulting new rule has left a great deal of confusion over what can and can't be posted and threatens a great deal of the utility of the board. To reiterate my point of earlier I would rather trust in the judgment of our moderators, who seem a pretty level headed sort, then have a ton of confusing rules. The rules should be broad based and lead an intelligent member to the right decision the majority of the time. When that guidance fails for whatever reason a Moderator should simply step in and fix the problem. However, when a Mod feels the need to flex his muscle I think that a PM to the OP and the Admin would be nice so that everyone knows what is going on and why. This was apparently not done some sometimes in the past and lead to a lot of confusion and animosity. Only is assistance to people seeking hard to find parts.... Not direct ads.. (Ex. I'm looking for a 6x24 illuminated POSP... answer, You can find one at kalinka...) Not... "Look! Russian glass on SALE!!!!!" or "If anyone is looking for item "X" you can find them at non_contributor.com for only 29.95!" If I feel people are abusing that freedom as well... it too will be shut down... The only reason things got like this was from abusing the system in the first place.... Why is everyone so greedy in life... everything is always about making money.. it does not cost much to host a forum like this, the forums would not have to shut down just because people are posting outside links... it is just greed at work. People post all this good information and help each other out, then someone has to exploit it for profit. If outside links are better deals, then THAT is what people should buy. Welcome to capitalism and a free market... the reason people buy from forum venders is because they often offer a level of service/quality/product that is worth more than just the cost of the basic item. When a problem comes up or a product is needed, they will respond to make it available. That is why people are sometimes willing to pay more.. If they fail to offer that, then they do not deserve the business. Trying to make it more difficult for new people to get the best deals on items is just greedy and has no place here or anywhere. Something coming up as a question on where to find the goods and voluntary advertisement for a vendor are to different things. IF our contributors DO NOT offer a product, feel free to provide the info on where to find it.... if a non contributing storefront or commercial enterprise gets a "free" ad in public view here...... bad things will happen.... This is not open for discussion.... the rules are simple... follow them... If you dislike the rules... feel free to contact Makc about them....
