Boba Debt 350 Posted July 24, 2009 Report Share Posted July 24, 2009 I should have done this when I first joined but when I decided to buy an AK I joined several forums and was just looking for info to make a sound decision on what to buy. I didn't plan to get too involved until I realized I could mix two things I love, building things and guns The Saiga offers me an opportunity go beyond just hanging parts on a gun and I'm looking forward to at least 2 conversion projects. But I guess I should tell you all a little about me I was in the Corps for 13 years, when I got out in 2000 I went to work at NADEP which is a military aircraft rework facility at Cherry Point Air Station in NC. I'm and aircraft electrician and I work on the various Marine platforms such as the Ch-53, CH-46, Harriers and in the near future we will be working on V-22s and F-22s I work very long hours and I also love to do projects around the house such as landscaping , hardscaping and our current Kitchen remodel which you can check out by clicking this http://s131.photobucket.com/albums/p298/Bo...mview=slideshow My wife Kitt and I are big Sci Fi fans, when we designed our house we set aside an entire room which is our Star Wars Museum It's full of prop replicas, studio scale modes and various other neat collectables. I also collect a lot of odd things such as foreign coins, microbrewery growlers (which is odd since neither of us drink), smashed pennies and meteorite spheres. Guns are not a hobby for me, I only have a few of them and I take the responsibility of owning then very seriously. BUT, being able to restore a Saiga is going to make it special and I will appreciate it more then the others. So I look forward to hanging out on this forum long after my conversions are done, I just hope I'm not too big of a PITA Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Now I know I'mnot the only Star Wars nut on this forum (I hope I didn't out you) I think I should take this opportunity to thank the members of this forum. I just got interested in AKs a few weeks ago and this forum convinced me to go the Saiga route. I scoured all of the different sections and when I need help, I got it pretty fast. I plan to document my conversion ala"tutorial style" and I'm going to do it from the perspective of a person that knows nothing about an AK-47 or a Saiga.
