Bean.223 365
YES IT SHOULD BE SPEND NOT SPEED I hope posting this link is ok, if not NP I'll edit it out. Heres the recent winner page. http://www.guns4pennies.com/auctions/winners Notice the Arsenal SGL12-01 for $14.06!! Now, I realize you gotta pay a penny every time you bid, and that I'm sure ya gotta pay shipping and FFL fee. I can see how they can make a profit doing it this way, but I wonder just how much the winning bidder did pay for the S12?? Not to mention the, LWRC M6 A2 for $42.23....I wonder if there is a form of bidding that costs more than a penny, I'll admit I haven't read up on them very much. SCAM? Spartacus 1,619
IMO, those "pay to play" auction sites are all scams. Why would I want to help pay for the item that the winning bidder gets? Gee, I get to spend money and walk away with nothing. Yeah..... sign me right up. Does freakin' everything have to be socialized these days?!

IndyArms 10,186
you have to BUY "penny bids" for $X.00 amount per "penny to bid"... In the long run you pay just as much as you will on gunbroker...
Klassy Kalashnikov 1,393
I see it almost like gambling. You place a bet, and see who places more or not. Pretty cool idea actually. There is another site like this for other stuff, I believe it is called Qbids or something, it's basically e-bay but done in penny style. Even with shipping and FFL fees, it's gotta be pretty damn awesome walking away with an Arsenal rifle for ~$75 or an iPod for $20.
MaloDave 19
The funny part about this type of auction is there is no set time for the bidding to end. When a bid comes in the countdown clock resets to 30 seconds. Malodave

Malodave yep and every time some one bids it adds time to the count down clock allowing people to place bids these type of auctions are ment for the bidders to pay for the cost of the item and the winner gets a good deal every one else gets screwed
Rottieman33 90
There is a site just like that called skorit 1 guy wins it but 30 other people lost $15 or more dollars. you put your penny bid in and it runs until your out of bids and you have lost all that money. I have read about sites like these were people have lost hundreds of dollars. At least with ebay if you don't win you didn't lose anything.
PVT Pablo 25
What I don't understand is if these guns are selling for like 50 bucks, why would someone put them up for sale in the first place??
Bean.223 365
What I don't understand is if these guns are selling for like 50 bucks, why would someone put them up for sale in the first place?? I think in most instances the seller is getting theirs. The LWRC i alluded to was being bid on at 8PM last night, when I got up this morning and got on the computer and checked again they WERE STILL BIDDING ON IT!! that's a penny every thirty seconds or so. Klassy is right, if your a gambling man its for you. I searched the interwebs and found no complaints about the site. UNLIKE Beezid, that site has MANY MANY complaints about it, including accusations of bot use to drive up prices. You cant ignore pistols going for $6 though!!! Even if you spend $100 bidding on it! If you get a Glock 26 or a nice Springfield its a win win...but only if you win. I DON'T THINK ITS FOR ME, I'm not a gambling man after all! Graniteer 10
I think you've got me hooked, I'm afraid to admit. I just liked watching the numbers run around, and the possibility of a deal. But, I also had a bit of a gambling addiction for awhile. How much do these "pennies" cost? It seems to me like some kind of token-style game, a Chuck E. Cheese exchange for tickets thing. I may have to register and report back.

I'll get into a superbowl pool, or pick up a few lottery tickets every now and then, but that's about it. Note: Don't invite me to go on a casino trip. I blow $20 and I'm done gambling for the entire trip. No joke.
Boba Debt 350
Can anyone explain how this works? I just saw a SCAR sell for $56, it had 10 $50+ bids but even if everyone paid $50+ to bid that still less then $600 for a SCAR
Graniteer 10
The addiction isn't really as bad as I was saying, it was more of a joke. It was more when I turned 18, I got hooked on scratch tickets. I was buying them 20 at a time and having a blast. Filled a whole shoe box. Thanks for the kind words though, and I will def make sure I have limits, if I even do this.
bigcec1 72
how it works is you sign up and buy bid packs . so each bid might cost you 50c each well each time you bid the auction goes up.01 so when it gets up to 50$ it's realy costing people around 2500$ for that item then you still have to pay for the winning bid wich is 2550$ total if you only placed 5 bids let's say it only cost you 2.50$ to win the item every one else lost there ass make sense ? it's not like eBay it cost you $$$$ every time you hit bid that's how they make tbe money to pay for the item they get the group to pay for the cost of the item for the winner

I just saw a SCAR sell for $56, it had 10 $50+ bids but even if everyone paid $50+ to bid that still less then $600 for a SCAR what you saw was probly the final 10 bidders evey item up for auction starts off At .01 every person that bids it goes up .01 so it took 5600 people for the auction to get to 56$ when you register you have to buy bids it might cost you .50 to bid so if 5600 people put in bids it cost the group 2800$ to pay for it now I don't know what a bid cost I'm using .50 for an example I've used this type of auction before it's a scam they usualy sell items for about 2-4x the retail price but it looks like a great deal cause it's only. .01 right? bigcec1 72
there is a way to be successful at this but it involves alot of time and some money you don't wana jump in this type of auctions just bidding on the items you want to bid on bid packs I know it sounds dumb but let's say bids cost .50 if you spend 10$ on winning 125 bids thats 62.5$ worth of bids you have that cost you alot less then you take those bids you won and get some more bids this time it's not costing as much to bid and if you do it again you build up your bids till it's not costing you hardly any thing to bid so let's say it started out costing you .50 each bid now it mat be costing you .05 a bid make sense ?
waltham_41 52
By the time everyone that bids on the item buys their bid packs at .50 cents per penny to bid, they make many times over what the item is actually worth when it appears to sell for 1/10th of what its worth. It took me one visit to Beezid to figure out their scam. The only way you can win at this is to have the balls to not bid until you are sure that everone else is ready to quit and then use a bare minimum of your one penny bid (that actually cost you .50cents each) to jump in there and get it. Timing, timing timing.
waltham_41 52
They like to brag that a $30,000 car can be bought for $1000..... take that $1000 turn it into how many pennies.... 100,000 right? Now, each of those penny bids cost .50 cents to bid right? Thats $50,000 they made on a $30,000 car.
Trigerhppy 2
Answering the how much people spend, I can't say what the average person does, but I can tell you I've personaly spent right around $350 there. In fact it's where I won my S-12. I've also won a FN 5.7 and a few accessories. I bid under the name Trigerhppy and you can see me listed under the closed auctions section. I've been bidding there since October I believe. Granted, I have done much much better than the average person, but it's not a scam.

The ~$350 I've spent is the total for everything I've won, although probably closer to $400 when I factor in shipping. That's for a Magpul stock, surefire light, and 2 different types of Magpul foregrips, the S12 and FN 5.7 . I've been able to get a fair amount because I also won several bids packages. For the S12, I think I had to bid around 60 times and then $25.19 for the actual gun when I won. If I had lost the auction, and I have lost many others, I would be out the amount I'd already bid. Most of my wins were back when it cost $1 per bid, but now they have different packages anywhere from $0.97 a bid down to $0.70 depending on how many you buy. I love it, it's exciting and entertaining as long as you control yourself. Even when I'm not bidding I watch the site just for the fun of it. I edited this to make one more note. I won that shotgun back when they were using GPal. Many of you who've heard of GPal know that that means guns4pennies didn't get paid for that, because GPal is a scam and keeps peoples money as any internet search of their name will tell you. But despite getting stiffed, guns4pennies still sent out the gun and other auctions I won. I know penny auction sites get a bad rap, and there are some out there that are pure scams, using bid bots, or not sending out won items, but these guys are as far from that category as possible. Really nice dealing with an honorable company. Edited February 15, 2011 by Trigerhppy

There is not house advantage, it's just you against the other bidders, and while luck is important, so is strategy. If anybody does want to give it a try that hasn't registered yet, I certainly wouldn't say no to the free bids I'd get if you use this link: http://www.guns4pennies.com/users/register/trigerhppy If you do try it out, they've been putting up bids packages almost every morning lately. Definitely go for them. On Sunday a 500 bids pack sold for $0.18, and Monday a 250 pack sold for $0.06. Todays 100 pack sold higher, but it shows that if you pay attention and watch, you can sometimes pick them up very cheap and go from there.
