nlacy 692
I've heard people say it all different ways. What's the right way to say it??? Sega (like the video game) Saga Saiga (like Saigon)

thebuns1 4,323
just like how Izhevsk is pronounced you-scheff-vsk. the "sch" is not like in "school", but more like in the name "schmitt"
Shandlanos 1,470
just like how Izhevsk is pronounced you-scheff-vsk. the "sch" is not like in "school", but more like in the name "schmitt" I've always heard it pronounced by Russians as Ee-jevsk, emphasis on the second syllable, the "j" pronounced similarly to the French "je". Sai-guh is how I pronounce it. The "g," when pronounced by a Russian, sounds to my ear to be halfway between a "g" and a hard "k" sound. timy 1,185
Mullet Man and Indy are correct from what I've heard, which includes Russians saying it. Believe it or not, I've actually heard a couple of people call them Sy-ay-guhs too. I thought to myself "Let's not make it any more difficult than necessary".
TheDarkHorse 216
I understand it's pronounced "sigh-ga".... but I like to pronounce it like the video game. (see my signature) Edited August 13, 2012 by TheDarkHorse

Squishy 1,149
As most Americans especially gunners know the name I tell people it's like "Saigon" with an "uh" instead of an "on". Myself I prefer "Doom Bringer"
Lone Eagle 839
I simply call mine "Liberty Defender".
Guns Are Great 140
Well being the hillbilly I am, I will continue to pronounce it Say-guh! People have to work out so many kinks in it to get it up to par I don't even consider it a Russian firearm once it runs properly! JoeAK 337
I say it like the game system, might be "wrong", but I think it sounds better.
theorangeplanet 968
I know its psy-guh, but I still use say-guh when I know using the correct version will illicit a "Whaaaa?" response.

22_Shooter 1,560
There's a video where a Russian guy is translating a walkthrough of the factory, and he says "Sigh-guh". I've heard every other way, over the years. Whatever. I know what they're talking about.
nlacy 692
http://forum.saiga-1...-pronunciation/ Thanks Dad. I looked up "how the f do you say it" in the search but there was nothing there..maybe if I could learn to spell pronunciation I'd have found it.

VR762Shooter 838
I always have pronounced it "sai-gah" but will occasionally say "sega" since I have gone into gun stores in the area, and when pronouncing as "sai-gah" get an odd look and the response "You mean a sega?". I think thats a MA thing though, I think that most people around here dont know how it is intended to be pronounced.
WI_Dave 26
say-ga, Sy-guh, it really doesn't matter. I use both and alternate randomly since I don't know which is right.
