  1. A single shot doesn't really tell much. A one-timer on the penny would be awesome, but if it can't be replicated, then it could just be a fluke. Either way, I wouldn't have expected to see the penny fracture like that. Then again, zinc is probably not as ductile as copper.
  2. I didn't realize switching off the safety on a Glock was so noisy.
  3. Is it the film, or is it something else that draws the critics' pan? I guess it could be both.
  4. I've always thought it's good to have dogs that get along with each other, because then you can have more than one dog! Cute picture too.
  5. Mine was done pretty easily. I went slower than I would have with more optimal dimensions, but it still ended up working perfectly well.
  6. You think he can't take it away, but he can render it meaningless if he appoints Supreme Court justices who believe that there is no individual right to bare arms.
  7. One might say that I'm knot-impressed. Nice work! Though I remember all my knots from when I was a Boy Scout, that was never one I had the occasion to tie. They always looked cool as heck though, and a huge version is cooler still. For a second though, I thought this thread might be about a W. W. Jacobs story.
  8. No, but if you join one of the those communist insurgent commando armies being founded by the undersecretary of DHS, you might get a 40S&W!
  9. This turned out to be a very political post. I deleted the extraneous stuff to say: I voted.
  10. Good thinking! Eliminating variables is how science gets done. I included the weights of the test specimens in my muzzle brake comparison videos for just that reason.
  11. I'm sure city denizens know how long it takes the police to come to one's aid too. The question "Why do you need that?" sort of implies the question "Why should you be allowed to have that?" The answer to the question as stated has some very practical answers, most of which have been stated (e.g. defense against violent hazards, the need for intellectual and physical stimulation, etc.) The answer to the implied question is better answered with the more intangible reason that is repeated supra (i.e. it is a right). I reckon that most non-initiates into the world of guns will not be sympa
  12. Heck, I'm sure we've all bought something without realizing it wasn't the thing we thought it was, so there's no shame in that. I also think most of us may be guilty of the sin of talking out of our depth, which seems like the reason for the varying rationales for not taking the ammo back (Hanlon's Razor, etc.) So, I'm not seeing a bad guy in this story.
  13. Me too, but I always seem to get this kind of a response: And no, the guy with the blonde hair is not Justice Elena Kagan.
  14. So, I read your nomination thread and thought that you might be the man to make this happen. I mentioned in another thread that a stamped steel stock that was compatible with an Ace folding mechanism would be a neat thing to have. I've been working on some paper prototypes that, with any luck, can be flattened into rough blueprints, but the actual stamping and welding of steel are beyond my capacity.
  15. That'd be pretty slick. CZs are great guns. The only problem I'd see is having a high quality 7.62x39 barrel not attached to a rifle!
  16. If they give you any trouble, just fuck the switch off.
  17. I'd heard he might have been gay, but Lincoln being from another planet? It kind of ruins the image of him doing his homework on the back of a shovel by the light of a plasma fusion reaction vessel.
  18. Breaking-in is the best part of any conversion, because you get an excuse to shoot!
  19. That'ssss a very nice idea you have there... Whatever kind of artwork you go for, make sure it's classy and kind of subdued. I'm sure those Serbs or Croats that put Beverly Hills 90210 stickers on their rifle stocks are kind of regretted it. Some sort of interlace art like Celtic knots would be cool, I think. If it were me, any writing would be in Latin or some runic language. Why? Partly because I'm pretentious but also because they, the runes especially, would be reminiscent of the inscriptions borne by swords in The Lord of the Rings.
  20. No need to get incensed with his nonsense. He's just trying to kill us with cortisol. Prove him wrong and move on.
