  1. The hole issue about pre-bans is vague. They can't expect you to have paperwork on the mags because the mags aren't registered and after 15 years, I doubt it is expected that you are to have copies of the sales receipts either. The burden of proof is really upon the accuser to prove that you didn't legally own the mags prior to the ban. Honestly, the whole mag lock / high cap mag ban issue in Kalifornia is really an effort to keep everyone honest. These laws usually are not enforced all on its own but as an accessory to other crimes charged which brought the these issues to light. N
  2. Are you talking about the pistol grip or the butt stock?
  3. My S308 did not have a pg nut hole. When I cut the pg nut hole on my first conversion, it was a total B!t@h. Do yourself a favor and get a DIY trigger guard kit that has a bolt on pg nut or a one piece trigger guard that has a pg nut attached to it. I had a left over pg nut attachment that is available from Cobra's Customs for the S12 which I attached to a reworked stock trigger guard. EDIT: Here's a link to a pic from Cobra's thread. Its for the S12 but you'll get the idea. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&
  4. I find it strange that someone would knock off a product that is already originally made in China. So that would mean that the Chinese or knocking off themselves and undercutting themselves? Very strange.
  5. Rifle only for now. TWS already stated in another forum that they'll be working on a Saiga-12 version some time after the new year.
  6. Try to find someone local to you that charges the least FFL fee who is willing to accept EBR/EBS. If you do you can get in under $600 for an uncoverted Saiga-12. The cost to convert on your own is about $180 with the most economical stock and PG(Tapco). That will put you under $800 which is well below your budget of $850. From there its all up to you. Mine seems to be a money pit ever since I got it about 2yrs ago. Many others can say the same about their S12s. Good luck.
  7. I've had a Leapers 1-4x Accushot for about 2 years that has worked great for me. They go for about $100. However, I've found that 4x is seriously short sighted for me when shooting out beyond 100yds. I'm still looking for 3-9x scope that has AO for a decent price. That Vortex 6-24x50 is way too huge.
  8. Parts kits are available from some dealers (can't name them). The premise is that you are to build them into 10/30 mags. In other words, you must mod the mags such that the follower is blocked at 10rnds of capacity. There are some dealers who will also sell them pre-modded. However I've only seen them for the AK in 7.62x39 or ARs.
  9. The answer is yes from .308 to .223. However if it is the other way around from .223 to .308 the answer is no. The forends aren't exactly the same. Internally they're different. The .308 handguard has clearance for the larger barrel.
  10. NorcalK9 - I'm currently in the process of converting my S308. All the parts for the conversion was sourced from Dinzag Arms.(forum sponsor) When I get it finished I'll post a picture of it along with a list of parts for your reference. For the conversion, I'll be using the Solar Tactical mag lock. PM me for the link if you're interested in converting. Although you can also avoid the mag lock issue if you go with a Monster Man Grip. I have that on my S223 that is converted and it is mag lock free.
  11. I can't answer your questions about the Bulgarian waffle mags. Do they make them for the .223? As for your bullet guided Saiga, it all depends on what kind of bullet guide you have on there. If you have the one made be Dinzag, you'll need to mod the mags by removing the bullet guide tab because the Dinzag guide protrudes out from the trunion onto the mag body. However, if you have a bullet guide made by someone else like the ones offerred by Carolina Shooters Supply, those don't protrude out from the trunion so it wouldn't interfere with the mags bullet guide tab. If you look at the
  12. Is the DPH clip on flash hider dead? I'm looking to get one for my S223. Its not that I don't want to thread my barrel for a proper one, its just that my rifle is in a "featureless" configuration for the purposes of Kalifornia law. However, I want to be able to attach a flash hider on the fly should situations ever change that may require it. Last time I heard was that it was being redesigned but that was a long time ago. The threads for DPH also seems to be dead as there have been no input from DPH for a long time. Can anyone shed some light on the situation?
  13. Whatever scope you get, make sure you don't skimp on the rings. There are a lot of crap ass airsoft rings out there, don't fall for that. The six bolt cap rings on Chile's gun are good. Try to get something like that or at a minimum no less than 4 bolt caps.
  14. To answer your question, I have the MSA adapter. I also got a Dinzag bullet guide. The problem with the Dinzag bullet guide is that it sticks out from the trunion an protrudes onto the lip of the mag body. This was good when I was using the .223 Pro-mags for the Saiga. However it required that I cut off the plastic tab on the front of the mag body that was being used as a mag body bullet guide. That plastic tab was prone to breakage on the Pro-mags anyways. This mag in stock configuration worked with the bullet guide because the mag when inserted had its front lip just below the bullet
  15. The Russian scope mounts are solid but to the surprise of most who've experience these mounts, they don't line up with the bore centerline. Yet the UTG does. Don't hate it because its Chinese. Keep in mind that some of the better AKs out there came from China. My UTG 5th gen with the quick detach holds zero time after time I remove and re-install it. It is a solid rig. I will tell you that the one to avoid is the Guntech one. That rail is total Krap!
  16. Not exactly sure what you are asking. I did the evil deed of cutting my trunion to make the AR mag adapter fit. Honestly the majority of the cutting was not to fit the adapter but more so to fit the AR mag into the magwell. Clearances was needed in the trunion in order for the AR mag to fit deep enough into the magwell for it to feed properly. So basically regardless of who's adapter, you'll need to do some cutting on the trunion if you want to fit any AR mag in a Saiga .223
  17. I saw this gun on the Calguns FS forum. It was a good buy. Congrats to you.
  18. I have both the AR magwell and have had the bullet guide. Currently I am using the AR magwell not for the sake of bullet feed issues but for the sake of being able to use AR mags. The two are completely different solutions to your bullet feed problems. Yes the AR mag will eliminate bullet feed issues simply by nature of its design and application. Once you "MOD" your receiver to fit the AR mag and adapter, the AR mag will be positioned high enough within your receiver such the bullet will relatively feed in straight. It is considerable work and if you are not comfortable with tha
  19. For windage yes. For elevation no. But you can make those adjustments to your front sight.
  20. I don't consider a Saiga 308 to ba CQB weapon or anything for CQB purposes. The .308 does have considirable kick even with a brake and needs to be fired from a shouldered position. For that reason, I wouldn't consider a folding stock on a Saiga .308
  21. +1 Dinzag is the best source for all your S308 conversion needs. Its a one stop shop for your .308 However, the Saigatech trigger guard is nice also.
  22. The 75-round drums are a hoot (Romanian 75 pictured), but I actually like the Bulgy 20-rounders best! macbeau - did you use the Tromix weld on adapter plate for the stock or did you just drill and tap the back of the receiver through the rear trunion?
  23. I finally decided to convert my S308 after having it for almost 2 years. Originally, I was just gonna get whatever Dinzag had and geterdone. Now he offers Arsenal FCGs which offer you a choice between single stage and 2 stage. According to Dinzag's site it says it makes for better accuracy but I'm not sure. The way they describe the 2-stage take up sounds like a double action trigger pull to me. I thought shorter trigger pulls make for better accuracy. Well I'm still a noob at this kinda stuff so please someone school me and tell me which FCG to get.
  24. What mags fit or can be made to fit the S223? This is a question I am sure many wonder including those who are new to the Saiga. I see a lot of pictures in the picture thread showing mags that don't look like aftermarket S223 mags like Surefire or Promag. What mags are those? I don't see any adapter on those so what are those mags that seem to have a direct fit? I've heard about Galil and Weiger mags fitting, can someone talk a little more on that and what mods are necessary to make them work? Also any source where one can get those mags? I myself have the factory 10rnd mags,
