  1. Using high brass may or may not work. If it doesn't, you probably aren't getting enough gas through the vents to drive the piston with the low brass wallyworld ammo . After market plugs may helpful if you have enough gas to begin with, but if not you will need to have an expert address the gas system. If your gun is still under warranty, contact Cadiz gun works, or RAA regarding warranty repairs. If it isn't under warranty there are most likely a number of business members who will cheerfully fix your gas system in exchange for money. Good luck, WS
  2. Another alternative to welding are 3/16" torque bolts. The open axis pin holes can be tapped and threaded. The bolts are easy to secure, and the look is very OEM tacticool. As a metalsmith, the idea that these holes need to be welded over, or that this treatment is any more professional than other solutions goes against many years of experience working in metals. I find the blatant condescension of some who choose to weld when it is not absolutely necessary, foolish, self serving, and distasteful. Recently a forum member was distressed because he had welded holes on the bottom of his recei
  3. Look at Eva Longoria then. I know when I'm feeling down, she picks me up. Just remember, under the skin of just about any hollywood hotty, you are likely to find this... I think I found this in a printable targets thread. Or maybe it was this one.... I can't remember. WS WS

  5. I have observed that most liberals are simply wired to treat politics as religion, and religion as politics. To begin to understand liberals one has to wrap the mind around the fact that for most liberals - Liberalism is a belief system, and not a point of view developed or derived from life experience or logical thought. While most of us tend to have positions on a range of issues we have thought about, and about which we have reached our own conclusions, the true Liberal lives within a very narrow set of political and sociological constraints beyond which they cannot venture without bei
  6. Too much ammo? You've got to be kidding me... No one can have "too much ammo". How about arresting people for "too much freedom", or "too much fun", or "too many eggrolls at the Chinese buffet". How bout "too fat, skinny, republican, conservative, liberal, poor, rich, dumb, smart"? This isn't f*cking Beijing, or Myanmar, or Venezuela, or even the Dominican Republic. This is the by god USA, where we have the right to keep and bear arms, and ammunition, and damn near anything else we want too as long as you can legally, eat it, drink it, smoke it, pop it, inject it, or make love to it (on it
  7. Fortunately, the criminal WAS completely, and irreversibly rehabilitated. I find myself wondering whether the hand was buried with the assailant, or is being held by the DA. WS
  8. Sounds like it's going to be a real beauty. I look forward to seeing it when you have it finished! WS
  9. BTW, as a metalsmith - I am always wary of applying extremely high heat to the receiver when it is not absolutely necessary. It is a personal preference, but I prefer to drill, tap, and bolt trigger guards to the receiver rather than welding them. A bit of blue locktite can do wonders, and if you need to remove the trigger guard for any reason, you won't have to grind it off to do so. Tromix makes a well engineered bolt on trigger guard with an integrated safety stop. It may be worth a look for your next project. Once again, good luck with the current project. WS
  10. "Damn, mind if I ask what you do? The picture of you and the SWAT looking guys.......ya kinda look like you belong to the Mafia . (In some of the pics, you look like the Dr. from the Saw movies.)" That's a BIG negative on the mafia connection. By profession I am a Gunsmith and Jeweler. I also work in films as an actor when time and opportunity allow. Where life and work get serious, I'm a type 07 FFL. I specialize in building high performance tactical Saiga 12's. The shot with "SWAT" was taken on a film set. I was cast as a federal agent in charge of a crime scene, the SWAT
  11. Real clays are usually no problem for me and my shooting buddies. I just line the clay up in the front sights or set the clay just on top of the sights (you will have to experiment with your own gun/sighting). We all shoot Saigas and hit a lot more than we miss. Just for fun, we sometimes set up back up shooters. We line up two or three guys. First, second, and (sometimes) third gun. If the first misses, the second immediately fires at the clay. If the second misses #3 gets a shot. Everyone has a good time, and the clays rarely hit the ground intact. Once the clays get far enough out,
  12. Ruthless, irresponsible, capitalism empowering ruthless totalitarian fascism (real communism no longer exists in China - if it ever did). Effectively, we are exploiting 1,000,000,000+ captives of an oppressive totalitarian regime, while giving away tens of millions of American jobs, so that we can nobly empower another price rollback at Wal Mart and improve the lot of the working man. Welcome to the New World Order and happy Labor Day! Sorry for the cynicism. I'm the first to admit I'm becoming a bit jaded as of late. WS
  13. It's true we have lots of oil, and can create jobs in oil production if we wish to. The fact that as a nation, we don't want to, is puzzling and frustrating. We also have plenty of other stuff from which we could produce an abundance of jobs, and an abundance of energy. Nuclear, Solar, Hydrogen, Geo-Thermal.... the list goes on. Why is it that the Chinese have already created some of the top solar enery companies in the world, and are deploying the technology at a breakneck pace, while we are still using it only to power our solar rechargeable garden lights? This IS no engery sh
  14. Are the tails on the hammer springs moving in on the rear of the sear, might be something to check, they shouldn't do that. No cycling problems with the FCG's I have installed. Have used Tony's, and vanilla Tapco G2's with my own mods. I did have a Tapco group that "stuck" on the receiver when the trigger was fully retracted. Turns out the the factory trigger aperature was 1/2mm or so off. Removed the trigger group, rounded the front edges of the base of the tapco trigger at the juncture of the trigger group and receiver. No more problems. WS

  17. Lol! I suggested AA because I am familiar with the type work they do on gas systems. If there is another company or individual you feel is better for this kind of work, by all means - recommend them. BTW, if the gas system truly isn't up to snuff, no amount of high brass, polishing of receiver components, gas fixer plugs, or US made gas pucks will fix the issue. One can always take pride in solving problems internally, but not everyone is interested or technically equipped to do so. If you have a problem with AA - its no skin off my nose. I am familiar with their services, but don't pe
