  1. Sure makes me want to pay more taxes to "ease their pain". Proof positive that there is no longer any discernible correlation whatsoever between politicians and the real world their slaves have to live in.

    S-12 conversion ROI

You guys are nuts! I'll give the 150 conversion cost, no questions asked. Yes, I know I'm being overly altruistic, but I'm just a nice guy.
  3. No. But it is much faster and easier to tumble the lube off than to wipe down each round by hand. But maybe you're into hand jobs.......... Nothing wrong with hand jobs. Depending on whether you're the provider or recipient, of course.
  4. Since I prefer the multicolor look that annealing cases gives over boring polished brass, I like to load em up and then put a propane torch to them. Admittedly, results so far have been less than satisfactory, but I am stubborn. At least I can skip steps that way, if nothing else.
  5. Being a manly man (at least on the internet) I just grabbed mine with my teeth and yanked it off. On second thought, I'm not so sure that sounds overly manly. Whatever. Seriously though, I put some PB Blaster on it and let it sit for an hour. At that point, a punch and small hammer worked fine. If you're absolutely, positively, never going to use it again then cut it. It's the safest way to avoid damage to anything else. BTW, nothing silly about asking before breaking out the sledge hammer.
  6. Deadeye is correct. You could have a little excessive trigger play with the safety engaged or it could fire while on safe. As far as I know, any other Saiga safety will work and eliminate the problem. My factory 308 worked with just a little play but I'll probably stick one of my spare 7.62x39 safety levers on it when I put back together after painting it. I'll end up with a few of these (7.62x39) levers since I don't use them on my AKAs.
  7. Looks good to me. Any installation problems? How long did it take?
  8. From everything I've heard, Seagull is pretty much the only person who likes Seagull. If the Russians want a washed up actor to help them out perhaps Pee-Wee Herman would be a better choice.
  9. Yet more proof that congressmen don't live in the real world. Guess he was unaware that NASA would be hard pressed to launch a Sputnik sized satellite right now. Bruce Willis ain't got nuthin to drive up there and save their sorry asses.
  10. Just out of curiosity, what would you be willing to pay for some nice rocks? They are Mil Spec, BTW.
  11. Yes, but the communists have to squeeze whatever propaganda they can out of the event. I'd wager they are extremely disappointed that he fizzled out on them before killing anyone else. Couldn't this case be argued as a gun saving lives? Oh yeah, "Guns don't save lives, people save lives".
  12. They were counting rounds to leave one in the chamber, counting above ten slows you down. Counting to 5 or 6 is quick and easy. I noticed the round counting but didn't correlate it to slowing them down. Thanks. The narrator also said the gal was relatively inexperienced which would make her less apt to count rounds and slow her a bit. Still, she did it. I find it difficult to count and shoot too so am waiting for these to come out.
  13. I think "Jim" was fudging a bit as all else being equal, it isn't possible to shoot faster while changing mags more. Still, the point was well made. It won't slow you down all that much, especially if you are well practiced.
  14. Some of them cost more than the people they represent are worth.
  15. There was talk about Wolf pressuring Saiga/Vepr to bring out a Grendel to go with Wolf's new steel cased ammo last year. What with all the problems at the factory I'm sure the possible project has been shelved. At least for now. Guess I'm gonna have to build an AR. BTW, the complete receiver sounds interesting.
  16. Hey, at least this guy did the right thing. I have no major problems with self termination if you really think life is that bad. However, I get enraged when the scumbags want to take innocents with them.
  17. Shoulda kept it. I've seen 223 rounds selling for more than that as of late.
  18. I agree. More than anything else, I was just bumpstarting the thread. Looks like it may have worked. Not that I'm that old, but I remember when $20 bucks was gas, beer and a pack of smokes.... for the weekend. And I still had .99 cents to rent a movie on Sunday night. Yeah, the worst thing is giving 200 bucks for a 20 dollar hooker. You definitely don't seem to get your money's worth there. Not that I would do such, of course. You have some interesting and innovative designs. Right now, all I'm building is my AKAs but if I ever do another normal build then I would consider this. I

  20. Uh, I don't have one. Seems a bit pricey to me, but if it provides what you are looking for, do it to it.
  21. Purdy much right on. The arrogance of the US military establishment precluded adopting something foreign, so the 5.56 was shoved down the throats of both the US military and it's allies. What a shame. As to my own preference, I believe intermediate calibers (6.5 or 6.8) are the best compromise between weight and stopping power.
  22. I've yet to build an AR but probably will at some point. That's mainly because Saiga doesn't offer a model chambered in my preferred caliber, which is 6.5 Grendel. Actually, I have seen a picture of one but believe it was only for the European market. Strange. As to ARs jamming, I think that is overstated, much like claiming AKs are too inaccurate to be viable weapons. My son has thousands of rounds through his RRA AR with nary a jam and he didn't clean/lube it after each mag change either. The platform has earned my respect.
