  1. E clips will work but are a pain in the ass if you ever do remove them. In my opinion there is no better solution than the plate. I don't like small parts that are easy to lose...
  2. Yes this is also true. You do need to have the weight as evenly distributed as possible to keep it from dragging down at any point. I also agree on the tighter clothes. They just feel better with gear. Tight pants = Tight groupings:
  3. The Polish allow their soldiers to paint their rifles. To me it's about the good bfpu look to it. A quick paintjob, worn down with use and in action looks infinitely more fun than a pristine rifle sitting in the safe.
  4. No problem on the non-desert colored stuff. I like to mix and match patterns anyway. I am of the opinion that your actions and ability to hide have more bearing on staying hidden than camouflage does. I use things to break up my shape. Right now my AR rig has ACU, coyote brown, od green, marpat and multicam all on the same setup. If I need to hide better I'll smear dirt on it. But mostly I would plan on a more urban environment being right in the middle of Des Moines. For me camouflage is more about breaking up my solid shape.
  5. You don't need a retainer plate, but after you fight with the wire retainer that AK's use, you'll wish you had gotten the plate. I get plates for every AK I have and have never looked back. They are worth the tiny cost.
  6. I have a US FLC setup that I like a lot, but it too does dig into my neck, not much really, and if I wear any shirt with a collar it doesn't hurt at all. The M4 double mag pouches will each hold one AK magazine so you are somewhat limited there I just run it with 5 magazines for an AK. This rig however is soon to be redone for an AR. What I like to do best for AK magazines though is use older ALICE suspenders and belt for my pistol, knife, etc, then a Chicom rig over that like the one I have pictured here. They are awesomely comfortable and very light. Both of these setups can be u
  7. Up here in Iowa that's where I do all of my shooting, amongst the fields and sticks. Ranges don't like my cheap surplus ammo.

    CZ 52 001

Details? This is the coolest CZ 52 I've ever seen...
  9. They are totally different beasts. The Tigr is based on the Dragunov design by Yevgeny Dragunov, the PSL is just a big Kalashnikov. Accuracy wise I really can't say but I have heard of people hitting head sized targets at 600 meters with a PSL. That said, the SVD is used as a DMR and a sniper rifle, whereas the PSL is really just a DMR. All that said, if you have the money to spend I'd get a SVD. But if you were in my position, without a lot of extra money PSL all the way.
  10. Here's the truth. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. IF ANYTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN, NOBODY HAS HEARD YET. Gun dealers are even more unscrupulous than car salesmen and will use any lie they can think of to jack up the price and make a buck off of you. PERIOD.
  11. It appears as though you may be able to go for more than 100 yards. If it was me, I'd go as far as the property allowed.
  12. Buck 110 Not fancy, works every time. My dad still has the one he bought in 1971.
  13. I have two retainer plates in my rifles. I'm not sure who manufactured them as they came in unmarked bags, but I'm thinking probably Tapco. Either way they have been 100 percent reliable and infinitely easier than the wire retainers.
  14. Everywhere I have ever seen these, they are crazy expensive. I was somewhat interested until I saw everyone's prices on it.
  15. Have you ever been to a public range? But yeah I totally agree with this. You will probably never ever use it. I do like the feature though, but it's not a deal breaker for me.
  16. For the time being (past 3 years) me and my bachelor's degree work in a refrigerated warehouse building pallets. It pays better than any job offers I've had. It's cold (0 to -40 degrees), I lift heavy boxes all day, I have to maintain a certain speed (I get an incentive bonus for being efficient though) and I'm usually exhausted after work. The good is that I also get a quarterly bonus of roughly 10 percent of the money I earned that quarter, my bonus for incentive pay, paid time off for attending safety meetings, flexible scheduling that I can change with only a weeks notice, if I'm late,
  17. Izhmash's Legion website.
  18. Granted I haven't used AR's near as much as the AK, but whenever I get a jam, I always clear the round and see what caused it rather than forcing the bolt closed. I have never used the forward assist on an AR. That said, I do like the feature just in case.
  19. Guy on the phone is wrong. Legion is a branch of Izhmash. Apparently they make the "higher end" products from Izhmash. That said, I have heard that almost all newly imported Saiga's, be them rifles or shotguns, are marked Legion. The gun itself was probably imported by Mercury Hermes in Louisville, KY.
  20. I am eagerly awaiting the Kel-Tec KSG. But as far as what I own, Ithaca 37 12ga Remington 870 Wingmaster 20ga Mossberg .410 bolt action
  21. Chuck Norris can impregnate women simply by running their fingers through his chest hair.
  22. You could use the magazines but you would have to modify them Saiga mags have the bullet guide built into the magazine. AK's have the bullet guide in the rifle, and the magazines clear it. IMO, sell off the promags and buy some military surplus AK mags once you get the guide in there.
  23. I can't say for any temperature tests, but in theory I would think that it would be slightly cooler. Probably not enough to worry about though. Even venting the debris, I don't think is enough to worry about realistically.
