May Buy a Used Saiga Shotgun - What Things Should I look For?
Mike1234567 posted a topic in Saiga-12
This is actually a S-20 but we all know the Saiga shotguns are basically the same. I posted here to take advantage of the much heavier forum traffic. I hope that's okay. This one has the synthetic furniture with a non-adjustable skeleton stock. It shows some handling that will probably clean off and the typical arched scratch from operation of the safety lever but that's very light. Other than that it looks basically new. The seller says he only shot three mags through it. Are there things I should look for before I hand over my hard-earned cash? I'm always worried when buying anythin -
1911... I agree!! In fact, I bought a couple of Saigas two weeks ago and put a third on layaway yesterday to lock in price/availability of a second shotgun. Heck, I just applied for a short-term loan from my 401K to buy Saigas in the other calibers I want. I figure, it "could be" now or never and I don't want to pay premium prices if a "B" word is about to be in effect. Congrats, Scott. Nice looking S-12!!

MODS: I just noticed a "Warn Status" bar under my name. Is this because of Post #76 above? If so, then please let me know so I can delete the content. -
Are we talking manufacturer, modifer, caliber? If just 1 caliber I'd pick a .308 because it's the most versatile, IMHO. Good for SD and hunting plus ammo is still fairly cheap/plentiful. I'd stock up on ammo and maybe some spare parts. Just my opinion.

I wish I'd known about this before I bought my S-12... it would have saved me nearly $25. -

To anyone of current or former Communist regimes: Please don't be offended by our rude candor. It's all just rhetorical nonsense... something we learn from our Democratic/Commie leaders. Very few of our leaders are truly dedicated to the "Republic" as set forth by our much trashed Constitution or even understand what our Founding Fathers' intentions were. Juggs... if this inappropriate; 1. I'm sorry, 2. Please just delete. -
Maybe you should start making them again... this time in limited quantity and offer several colors anodization to the aluminum parts clear, black, and red for sure. Of course, price will be a bit higher and wait period may be a little longer but this just makes the little delil's pitch fork even more intriguing.

MaloDave... if all you say is accurate then crediting your account of all those charges sould be easy enough. Be sure they remove all that crap from your record too. Oh... and SHRED those damned CC's!!

I bought the 21.8 because my research indicates that, depending on ammo, a 18-20" is the best compromise and the only way to get that is to buy the longer barrel and have it cut. This also allows for cutting/recrowning yet again if it's ever worn/damaged without any appreciable decrease in accuracy. Maybe I'm over-thinking it a bit and I'm sorely lacking in practical experience but, again, this seems to be the consensus from what I've read.

OMG... That's F-ing hilarious!!! OTOH... I'm pimping my lady Saigas a bit!!

No problem, just don't bust me too hard on my fit and finish. This may seem hard to believe, but even when the tab missed the hold open, the 3M doublesided tape was strong enough to stop the bolt on the tab itself. At least I know it's just empty and the gun hasn't shit the bed. Thank you, Heath. Wow... that is indeed a simple straightforward solution. And what I REALLY love about it is it's ultra-cheap... that's my kind of fix. You've had no issues with it ever? Oh... and I don't care what it looks like as long as it works!! What brand/model prototype LRBHO are you using?

Odd things to load in a shot shell
Mike1234567 replied to Alexc.s.'s topic in Reloading and Ammunition
If this is for SD I wouldn't use an odd round like this... not even one home loaded to a round with standard factory specs. Some jerk DA may try to screw you with that saying you intentionally concocted an "evil torture round" or "didn't know what you were doing". Nahh... for SD I'll stick with a quality factory loaded #4--#00 buck that I'm sure cycles through my shotgun. -

Mike1234567 replied to Tusken Raider's topic in Reloading and Ammunition
Not to rain on your parade but since this is for self defense and it's for your loved one(s) why not just use a quality low recoil factory load in #4--#00 buck and ensure it cycles perfectly? -

Yeah, me too. I'm guessing the hold-up is with BATF and other gub-mint entities.. -
I'd have bought TWO for that price. What a deal!! Yeah, I resurrected an old thread. Sue me!!

Resurrecting an old thread but just now saw this and had to say CONGRATS MIKE (I hope). That said, please don't get stuck in those fat gubmint contracts and forget about us little guys, okay??

Hey wimbo, Don't stress about any assholes who try to flush you out by shitting in your threads. Just use a little TP and wipe their crap away. I've learned that all forums have a few assholes and even some are Mods... not here though!! The Mods here are pretty kewl.

I like the way this forum is run. It seems to me the Mods are pretty darned accepting here. Haven't we all been on Forums run by overbearing hypochritical commie a-holes that have the need for ultimate control? Haven't we all been on forums in which a-holes and ass-hats have taken over due to lack of Moderation? I sure as hell have and I either get banned or quit posting on those websites. So far, I haven't seen any Mods here with a hard-on for any particular member unless they're real pricks and deserve what they get. I do think it's good idea to have at least one Forum in which anyone can sa -
Then get in your car and start driving in any direction other than west. As you cross the state border roll down your window and put your arm outside raising your hand in a one-finger salute and say, "Ah'll be bock... NOT!!", in a slow stoopid weightlifter's drawl. Enjoy your new life in the free world.
