I think I should be able, with proper fundamentals hit at 300 yards with irons with my Saiga 223. Havent had the chance yet. But the question I meant to ask was how a magnified scout scope would hold up mounted to a Ultimak. Im sure I could tighten my groups up scoped.....

Whats the consensus on puting a LER scope i.e. Leupold/ Burris scout on the gas tube as far as longevity. I have no problem hitting man sized COM at 200 yards with irons, but shot a friends AR with a scope and was easily hitting a 6" popper at 200 yds. No side rail.....

I picked up a 42 as well, love it. Cant find mags for it though. Also carried a Keltec P3AT. I like the fact that the Glock has a real trigger, and it takes down like every other Glock. The Keltec is still easier to carry though.....

The bullet guide on the SGM mags can be shaved off easily, Iv done quite a few with just hand files.

Anyone know if the Bulgarian 5.56 bullet guide on the K-Var website would be compatible with a Saiga? It looks like it would guide a bit better than the Russian version.

I see you,ve shaved your Surefire mags,how did you do yours,and what do you think of them?

7.62 pouches work with most any caliber mags, you just use a little filler at the bottom. For example I use 7.62 pouches for my 5.56 mags with magpulls and they fit perfect with no filler. The Ace Case 6 packs work as well.

Yeah the first two were done by hand with just a mill file and a sanding block. The others a friend took most of the ribs off on a mill and I finished with a small orbital sander, much easier lol. I think I can do the whole thing with the orbital. Original plan was to just reduce and round the ribs. They arent quite as stiff in the body as they were, but feel like the other slabside mags like the (10) 5.45 mags and the Izhmash 223 mag which is hidden in plain view in the pic when you squeeze them. The sgm mags dont seem to like being removed from pouches, particularly when they are double stacked.
