  1. Are you talking about cutting the barrel and adding the Monster Brake to equal 18" or just adding it to an 18" barrel? Also, if you are talking about recoil reduction. You'll get more benefit from the full Monster but with additional weight. As far as barrel length, the closer to the action that you put the the more you'll benefit from the higher pressure gases. This is why the serious competitors go with the mid barrel brake and why I put my full Monster brake in the mid barrel position.
  2. No oil needed, it'll just gum things up. Just keep it and the gas system clean.
  3. I may have to use that too, thanks!
  4. Damn, when I left CA I was my two choices were CO and TN. I made the right choice!
  5. How would he get the pin back through? The detent has a relief cut in it. Just vise it and cut the relief with a Dremel until it fits.
  6. Very informative. I figured someone would have a few tricks to doing this. Great ideas, thanks! So you just used the pencil/pliers to trace the hole inside the block? Yep, that's it.
  7. I used the tip of a pencil in needle nose pliers to get in there and mark the hole with the block in place. The put some scotch tape on the original holes and marked their positions. Then use the tape to transfer the holes to the new marked position. Also, When drilling the new pin locations be sure to install the first pin before drilling the second to prevent the bit from walking and moving the block forward. This would have saved me some trouble had I done it on my build:-)
  8. I almost sold my only AR but came to my senses and am very happy that I did. Since its your only AK then I say keep it, you'll most likely regret not having it. There are other ways to get money.
  9. That's an interesting idea, I guess I could get this and chop my 500 and save the SBS tax and just register it as an AOW. That would pay for much of the new receiver. Sounds fun.
  10. Took a second for that to register for me. These "artists" are ridickulous;-) These guys were doing it first though http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/7843/5scots1small.jpg We called them "jingle AKs". Google jingle trucks for the inspiration.
  11. TIG welding is the best method. Have you read this http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/38318-sbs-technical-info-thread/ Have you done the conversion yet? That's a great way to get to know the girl before going all the way. Also, an unconverted SBS would be just silly to me.
  12. It's a Waterrower. I love it. It has a very natural catch. The resistance is created by spinning two paddles through water in the transparent drum. It is very quite. The sound of the water is actually quiet relaxing. It can be stored vertically. So, it doesn't take up much space. The only ding I would give it is that you cannot change the resistance easily. You have to add or subtract water from the drum. It comes with a hand pump to aid with this. Pretty cool, I'll have to look into that.
  13. What is that rowing machine, I haven't seen a wood one before? What are your thoughts on it?
  14. The gun store that I bought mine for does no questions exchanges for broken ones, NCStar and Sightmark. That's why I bought one, he even does them for sights/scopes that weren't bought there. I figured for the price I'll use it until it breaks and just exchange it.

  16. I say call the local ATF and see what they say, I'm sure he won't enjoy the extra attention from them.
  17. Yeah, that sounds annoying. I think it buffers a certain amount so if you are on a slow connection it might take longer to load.
  18. If your connection is spotty then Rhapsody might be good for you. You pick the music instead of the service picking for you. You can save your playlists though so if you don't have Internet or just a bad connection then your music will still play. I use both services.
  19. Does the paid version alleviate the breaks, or just the commercials and ads? I haven't used the free version in a while but I thought you were talking about commercials, are the breaks when it asks you if you are still listening? I don't get any interuptions, breaks or commercials with Pandora One (paid version). I use it when I am on the road for 6+ hours and get continuous music as long as my connection is good (AT&T gets spotty sometimes in the certain areas). I think it's only $4 a month so definitely check it out and see if it works for you.
  20. I hate the breaks too, I went ahead and did the paid version. It's worth the cost to me.
  21. Then I think the Judge Magnum has you covered on all of that. Definitely bigger and has the look with a good variety of cheaper ammo and the option to go big. That's why I got mine. I also looked at the 500 and other large calibers but didn't want to be limited to one really expensive and really powerful round. Verify that you are getting the model that says .454 on the side. I am guessing that you know this but there are ones that look almost identical that don't shoot that, this confused me a little at first when I started shopping for one.
  22. I have the Raging Judge Magnum 6" and love it. Unless you have a good reason for getting the 6" I would take a look at the 3" model, mine is huge. Also, I like the option to shoot 454 but didn't realize how expensive they were until after when I was shopping for ammo. Something to consider, is 454 really all that important to you?
  23. Pandora is great, I use the paid version all the time. Totally worth it but try it for free and see if you like it. It does more than music too, I listen to stand up comedy a lot on Pandora. Last.fm is pretty good too, I think I switch because of music availability, it's been a while. Free too so worth a look. I use Rhapsody too. You create your own playlists with only the music you want. They have Pandora like stations too. You can download music for offline listening too as long as you are a subscriber.
  24. Yeah, even in that pic where she is trying to be sexy she still looks like she is planning to destroy something. She was great in the new Musketeers movie, that was better than expected. Gotta see the new RE movie now.
