  1. This asshole should try having a trash dog, shit everywhere and I mean everywhere, dont get me started on my kids and the shitty escapades we have had out in the boonies.
  2. I think you should soak the pins and fsb thoroughly in penetrating oil, before attempting what you are talking about, will make life much easier on yourself if you intend to remove it and keep it intact, then a bench vise and a puller of some kind, I dont know as much about this because I have never tried to save one, I just cut the front of the shroud off with a hacksaw, should not take more than 15 minutes, then twist with pliers and if it comes straight off then no threads, if it has to be twisted off then it is more than likely threaded. A sturdy bench vice and puller would be ideal but a h
  3. yes you would be set but I would change the handguard before the gas piston, tapcos intrafuse handguards are not bad. The piston is a real russian gas piston swapping it only serves to degrade the reliability of the rifle, just my .02 I just like to keep as much russian moving parts as possible for reliability sakes.
  4. I would leave it as is and just not buy many of them and wait, it is hard to get 922r on an unconverted rifle, you would be using tapco mags and have to replace 1 more part as I believe they are 14 parts total. I could be wrong but as soon as it accepts standard magazines it is no longer considered a sporting rifle
  5. rwc half converted saigas should be around 650, check slick guns 5.45 deals and see if there are any left.
  6. I wonder what the order sizes are per person, is it people buying multiple cases at once or more one person one case.
  7. Plenty of 5.45 floating around as well, arsenal rifle prices are still high as hell and mags are still a bit spendy as well, 47 magazines still seem to be good selection and value right now,so what was there about a panic buy? I mean really this is not like after sandy hook, yea we are at odds but neither of our economies can really afford the hits were gonna take. It will end soon and ammo will get even cheaper because of the hit the rubles taking in the market. P. S. You can never have enough ammo, ever, so if ya got the cash buy it but dont go broke doing it.
  8. 1. you can thread the barrel and use adapter and brake and make your own detent pin. 2. swap the whole fsb to the 74 24mm fsb. both can be done by you, not highly technical job so follow the directions and you should be fine.
  9. The BR-74 seems like a good deal, properly heat treated reciever and barrel, it is the best u.s. made clone.
  10. I got east germans that have a little mold and mildew, soaked them in simple green and then rinsed and machine washed them, they look and smell like regular pouches.
  11. damn that is a very good price, I paid 625 for mine but got two circle 10 mags with it. These are the best buy on saigas right now if you cant afford an arsenal. good find.
  12. vepr 308 hunter or a super vepr in 308 for accuracy, saiga for everything else.
  13. hence the boiling water, heat melts it off. maknwar those look real nice, you are paying for the fact they are russian, thats it, they are no better than any other com-bloc steel. If you got it spend it, but I would order 5 of those an d 10 of the ones from apex.
  14. they should all be between .551 and .570 as they all use the same thickness barrel on 5.45 7.62 and 308 and 223.
  15. I heard bathing them in cola works well for rust too, but will remove paint. I just treat the spots with balistol and fine steel wool cleans it right off. sgammo has chinese smooth backs for 14 bucks a piece as well, everything else is korean or overpriced. Btw I will take cosmo over rusted any day, can wash it off with boiling water or soak it with wd 40 which liquifies it.
  16. apex gun parts is the cheapest at 10 romanian 30 rounders for 90 bucks, they may need some cleaning but should be functionally perfect. Dont be scared of ak mags that need a little love they are all built like tanks and will function well beyond yours and my lifetime. My yugos were cheap because of the fact they were covered in cosmoline, but a few hours and some wd 40 and they all look brand new unissued for 10 bucks a piece.
  17. I like having some that are metal, it is just a pet peeve of mine. I prefer the bulgies for the weight but my tantals are my backups they seem to go in and out fine on my rifles, may buy a few more if they become available at a reasonable price, at 25 bucks they are not as good as circle mags but at the 10 bucks I paid there worth every penny. Stripper clips and guides are high priority for me as it seems to be a very effecient way of storing ammo and charging mags.
  18. Just got a crate from wideners for 350 shipped, will be picking up another in a few months and probably one after that before election panic hits. The mags are worth the money as they are all pretty much good to go for the life of the rifle. I have east german bakelite(some type of resin compound actually), polish tantal steel , bulgarian circle 10 and 21, russian plums, they all are worth the money as they are all overly built for the round. I suspect they would outlast any ar-15 magazine under repeated hard use.
  19. I just vented my stock handguard and coated the inside with high heat paint, I dont notice any heat issues with reccomended rates of fire, the venting does seem to help though. Regardless if you shoot fast enough its going to get hot no matter what handguard you have.
  20. The yugo bho mags are the beefiest I have seen, my russian steel 30's are lighter and easier to insert and remove in my rifle though so there are some small variations. The bakelite and poly mags are a bit spendy but if you have to have the look then go for it. I wonder how many mags there are for the ak compared to the number of rifles. 10 to 1 or maybe 100 to 1. Wish some more 74 mags would get here at reasonable prices. rant off.
  21. thanks for the tip mancat, I am going to try a couple with all my mismatched socks and see how that goes for getting it clean. Thankfully the east german stuff does not have a bit of leather on it. Hopefully they are no tears or anything either like the add stated, just dirty in used condition and light rust on the strap buckles which I am going to take care of with CLR and then treat with ballistol. Thats one thing that works great on leather is ballistol that shit can take 100 year old leather and make it just as supple and rich as if it was new. The chinese ones are a steal, if
  22. I got beaver fever smells a little fishy Dude would really get into some cupcakes!
  23. any good eastern block metal mag will work fine, chinese are great for there smooth back. Everything else is really expensive so I just buy metal mags there cheap and reliable. Going to add 20 round tankers at some point as well I like my 20 round tapcos so much I am going to get some of these.
  24. If I hadnt just bought 12 east german pouches I would be all over these, but I got a deal on the east germans for the same as these. wonder how the quality compares between the two. Now here is a bit of a stupid question but are these safe for machine wash, I feel better that the pouches have no leather but would machine washing hurt or degrade the material, they just have some minor stains I want to get out. I bought these along with the whole load bearing set up from back in the day for the east germans, not the newest technology but it was cheaper than anything else, you can get a
