  1. First time here on the 223 side and I have a number of questions. Background: I do have an x39 conversion and I love it! Recently I was seduced by a Bushmaster Carbon 15 in Prairie Camo. Then I found an AR180B at a great price, and having owned an original, just couldn't pass it up. I took both of these to the range, and shot a few mags through each (Wolf Military Classic). I got cases stuck on each of them, ending shooting for the day. I think heat was responsible for both failures to extract (FTE). Any thoughts on this? My x39 has NEVER done this no matter how hot it got. Do the 223 Saigas
  2. "oh, and i'm not done with the install, still have to put in the main spring and the chicago pins, but my trigger won't squeeze yet. am i running into a problem?" Did you put the hammer in backwards? Am I the only one to have done this? PLEEEZE tell me I'm not!
  3. I guess the question is: Why do you need this reversible? Is this some kind of Kalifornia non-compliant one minute, compliant the next sort of thing? "Honey, the cops are at the door! You'd better convert your rifle back to the way it came! I'll hold them off for an hour!" Are you planning to manufacture this adaptor? If so, I think that the responses on here will be indicative of market interest. If you don't plan to try to market this, it seems that it would be easier to do the conversion than to make a prototype. Mine took me longer than most because of a nasty tremor I have, installing t
  4. Greatmoose is great to deal with! I got his FAL. If I didn't have the FAL I'd be buying this one!
  5. Do the assignment, and use the liberals way of thinking: Argue your case from an emotional standpoint. I have a BA and a Master's, so I know what these folks are like. Take it as a challenge. I needed an upper level history class to grad, and took Teaching History in High School". The prof was a professed socialist and every other student was a future brain-washer, uh, I mean teacher. I talked to him about dropping the class, and he talked me into staying. Scary stuff, from the Dark Side, but the class ended up being a blast. He'd come up with some lib crap and look back at me and smile. I'd s
  6. Been there, done that! My pin was alittle long, so I used a large drill bit to remove the edges that were flared out to keep the pin in. I also got that new catch from KVar. I put the old pin into a vise on my drill press, and drilled a hole in the center of the pin to allow me to spread out the edges again on reinstallation. Now set aside a couple of hours and a sedative to reinstall. I used a flat tipped center punch of a slightly smaller diameter as the hole to slip through the left side of the base, the catch and the spring. I brought the punch towards the rear of the rifle to bring the ma
  7. Here's a pic of my short barrelled "RPK". I think it was Inter Ordnance that I bought the stocks from. It's an East German laminated set, and was $60. I don't know if they have any more. I used a shortened STG 58 bipod and a thin strip of leather as a spacer so it can cant to either side. Sarco has these for $30.00.
  8. My offer is hereby withdrawn. I guess the Nyland Family has been lost since Aunt Rose moved to Miami.
  9. Only 25 hours to respond. Wow! For FTF only, perhaps it's be better to post it in the local Thrifty Nickel.
  10. $325 shipped to Texas was my offer for the items, just to be clear.
  11. $325 shipped to Texas was my offer for the items, just to be clear.
  12. Ooohhh! That's a Remington factory mag extension, harder and harder to come by. Wish I had the money. IMHO, the 870 makes into the best tactical scattergun available. Now for that factory folder.......
  13. Thousandson Didn't know the price discrepancy, I'll kick in an extra $25 to make it work.
  14. ThousandSon I bought the FAL. If you'd like to get me a replacement DSA scope mount cover I will swap with you. Sent email.
  15. The Tapco SAW grip comes with the screw, but you will need the grip screw nut. The screw for this grip is a short one, about an inch long. Also get yourself one of the pin locking plates the sell for about 12 bucks. This way you don't need to screw around with those binding posts in the back holes (I sure wish I had gone this way!) Good luck! PS: Use a flashlight5 to get a REALLY good look into the receiver, and I'll bet you'll spot that grip-nut hole.
  16. PSYCHOTIC REACTION was a one hit wonder song from '67, and became the name of two consecutive guntrucks used in Vietnam. I turned my deuce-and-a-half into a replica of the first one from 1968. Did it almost entirely myself and she was a beauty. Had to sell it a few years back, but she's still making it to shows with the new owner. His site is http://www.vietnamguntruck.com/ but all the pics of it were when I owned it. Oh yeah, I'm also given to the occasional psychotic (though mainly neurotic) reaction.
  17. I no longer own it, I'm sorry to say. The original truck from 1968 was named for the song "Psychotic Reaction, a one-hit wonder by the Count Five back then. Thanks for the kudos.
  18. ".... and I'm pretty sure I'll be suspended and this post will be deleted." Well guys, I guess I'm relieved about the lack of censorship of ideas. I had a bad experience with the self-proclaimed "owner" of a Vietnam Gun Truck site who deleted eveything I ever wrote. (My icon is a picture of the replica gun truck "Psychotic Reaction" that I built). There's still a bad taste in my mouth after more than two years. And I guess I got up too early this AM!
  19. Don't you find that answer a bit hostile? As a Newbie I find that a bit intimidating. Your answer took far more effort than A; answering the question, or B; not answering the question at all. You also seem to assume that all information is static. It is constantly changing and there are always new products on the market. The reason to have a forum is to interact with others about a shared interest; it isn't just a home for outdated archives, and the inevitable wild goose chase for the needed information. Your response makes the forum look like a place where the Newbie is unwelcome. I certainly
  20. Try http://www.tapco.com/page.asp?id=83 . This is Tapco's page on this. I believe the Saiga has a count of 15 parts as it does not have a muzzle device. Going with the stock and forend, it can be as easy as using American made mags. You could also go with just mag bases and followers. along with a Tapco gas piston. Hope this helps.
