  1. *Off-topic* Well, (much to my surprise) there are some people fighting back in this world! Furious residents are fighting back at al-Qaida-linked rebels for imposing strict sharia law and destroying local culture. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2012/jul/17/islamist-extremists-alqaida-uprising-mali
  2. Coming soon...? Self-Guided bullets. http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2012/07/19/could-guided-bullets-turn-average-joe-into-sniper/?intcmp=features Gotta love the opening paragraph... "Two military research labs have been racing to revolutionize rifle accuracy and range by developing the first-ever guided bullets – a technology that could potentially give any hunter sniper skills, if made public."
  3. Terrible situation all the way around. Seriously, though, in this situation what could you do if you were armed? Dark theater - mass panic - people yelling, pushing, heavy crowd - unknown number of shooters (at first) - terrible visibility and near zero chance for a clean shot... If you were (hopefully) concerned with not shooting innocents, you would have to be at point-blank range. Very hard to do with a large, panicked crowd vs. an active shooter, I would think. A trained person with a knife might have about equal effectiveness here?
  4. Jael's on the new Haunted Highway now. Dana's not bad either!
  5. Does anyone here watch this silly show? There's so many things I can't stand about it, but it's like watching a car wreck... you just can't turn away! The other day they were in Arkansas searching for some "unknown creature". The "creature" in-question is supposedly a feline-like animal that likes to hide up in trees and pounce on people. Get this- it's supposed to weigh about 400 lbs. and is "known" to be very aggressive. I'm imagining a more agile version of a black bear with a serious attitude problem. They were also cautioned by the locals that if they're going to go out there,
  6. Because if he shoots himself without the wife being present... He'll never hear the end of it.
  7. I will be truly amazed if any of the shooting events get any air time! Go Kim!
  8. The advantage of wad cutters on paper is they give you a nice, clean hole. In competition that makes it easier to score. They're usually a great, light load for practice. Light recoil and less expensive than the "good stuff". What kind of derringer do you have? Shoot it much? My Dad had a 9mm derringer, and it was no fun at all to shoot. The trigger was about a 50-lb. pull (kidding, but it was very stiff), and at 10 yds. I had to aim about 2 FEET low to hit the paper.
  9. ^ It's kind of like "Canadian Bacon." Canadians don't know what the heck that is! "Mutt-rabbits!" I'm sure there's a market for rabbit pelts of some kind... a taxidermist might be able to tell you, or just do some searching online. It would be nice to get some use (and extra cash) out of good pelts. "Waste not..." *WARNING!* Make sure you don't accidentally breed any with that carniverous rabbit from the Monty Python movie!!
  10. ^ Good Points there, thanks for the post! This is also what bothers me about their "tax the rich" schemes. Who do they think OWNS the businesses?! The same people they want to tax all to hell and back, and make them pay higher health care costs at the same time! I can't believe all the Hollywood cronies support all those "tax the rich" schemes as well. Or do they think they're exempt somehow?
  11. Here, this should help motivate you to take corrective action!
  12. imfdb.org if you're trying to find it like I was.
  13. Sorry to hear it came to that, but the perp sounds like a real "winner". I hope your friend is okay. I've never had to actually draw on someone, much less fire at them. Don't press him on it, just be there for support when he needs it. Also be very careful now about what you post on a public forum about this.
  14. ^ Beat me to it... Much of South America does not speak Spanish, they speak Portugese. Point taken, though... I have to wonder if this is somehow related to the blown "Fast n' Furious" instigation that the DOJ was doing? It still amazes and infuriates me that the Gov't of Mexico (including their new Prez) is still trying to blame America for all the full-auto assault weapons, rocket launchers and grenades that are flooding their country illegally. WE DON'T SELL THAT STUFF IN OUR GUN STORES YOU MORONS!!
  15. I bought one of the Molle-brand cases from the "dirt-cheap" website. So far I'm very happy with it. I've only had it for a couple months, though, so I can't yet say what it's long-term durability will be. It seems to be very well made.
  16. Quoted just because it deserves a second read and a lot of consideration!
  17. Won't upset me at all! You can paint yours pink if you want! I got my Storm years ago, I was too impatient to wait for the .45 ACP version.
  18. Finland has an annual, multi-national competition in his honor.
