    I bought some bacon SPAM there today... but I meant to! Browsed the sporting goods section today for the first time in a few weeks and saw that they carry frickin buttstocks and pistol grips for AR's now! Ammo section was FULL to the brim...well, minus the five boxes of x39 that came home with me that is.

    Shit, I love Walmart...but then I have no problem having the nearest employee get on the horn and page whoever is supposed to be working the sporting goods section. Once they get there I point at the stuff I want and tell them how many, but then again I also check to make sure it's what I want before telling them it is. But then that goes pretty much anywhere, there's NOWHERE around here that will accept a return on ammo once it goes out their door, and it's pretty ludicrous to think they should.     When my father-in-law and I operated a towing company in California, one night I responded to a call from the local PD. After pursuing a motorcycle, they found the operator didn't have a motorcycle license so the officer requested that it be towed (since the guy was a smart-ass and pissed the cop off).     I had a conversation with one of the UK buyers of my mosin sight tools and he was telling me that you folks have some pretty stringent restrictions on buying and storing ammunition as well... something along the lines that you are allowed only a certain amount and that you have to account for it every year before you can get more?

    I kept mine and actually bought another one (cheap), the mod takes a couple of minutes tops, just grind/file/cut the tit at the front so it doesn't hit the rear of the bullet guide and you're good to go. If you modded your catch to use AK mags then the Saiga mag will fit a tad loose but not bad enough to worry about.

    Yeah, my buddy and I are contemplating going down a bit south of us and going after some for the hell of it, he's talking about taking his bolt action deer rifle, I said "F" that, I'm taking my Saiga and 30 round mags and practicing double taps!

    Don't know how many of you were in the military for any length of time, but those of us who were know that they have an FM for EVERYTHING from how to cook powdered eggs to survival. These FM's have an expiration date usually a few years down the road, as soon as one comes out the pencil pushers start working on the new one. Most of the content is just carried over from one to another, you can get PDF's of pretty much any of them without any problem if you wanted to, I have the survival one and it's filled with loads of great information.     I just use a $60 one from Harbor Freight, don't use it as much as I used to but it's like three years old and works fine.

    Maybe he's talked to some people that don't go to forums and THEY told him he was an asshat too... Looking at the other stuff he has listed it looks like he buys from auctions and resells, he's got a lot of kitchen knives, an old watch and some sunglasses...obviously not a real gun enthusiast, just a jerk trying to sell stuff that he knows nothing about. And you'll note that I use a lot of ... too, but at least I use them correctly!

    You mention bed frame steel, I've done quite a bit with it but never anything that I consider to be real important...usually just welder or shop carts, just made some swinging targets, made a few collapsible target frames, etc. The problem is finding out exactly what is in it...a lot of them are made from recycled railroad rails and you can seriously screw up cheap tools working with it, you're not going to drill a hole in that stuff with your Walmart drill bits if it is.     I have the cheap Chinese side mount, haven't taken it off as it has just enough clearance that I can remove the dust cover and bolt group without having to dismount it. Not sure which scope I ended up with on it for sure (old and forgetful and too many scopes) but it's held perfect zero in the six months that I've had it on there, my range trips are about 25 miles from home at my buddy's place and usually entail the two dogs knocking over the gun bags and stomping on them a few times while the wife and I are inside KFC at our usual stop along the way...that's good enough for me!

    Well, technically a 'K' platform, since the Saigas are not automatic (AK=Avtomat Kalashnikova). -D Well, technically according to the media, all AK's are full-auto and have heat seeking bullets that only hit babies and old ladies But they also call any black rifle an assault weapon too...
