  1. Evl, we obviously think alike as that was my plan. I have alot of adjustment on the table with the Auto Plug I mean a whole lot. We'll see, taking baby steps one hole per side then test is not a problem at all. Romad7 what I meant was I see it can be done and thats what matters. I won't start this for a month or two but I'm confident with my skills that I will be able to make it happen. I may even start with a smaller hole and if there is no problem I'll gradually step them up to 1/8. It will probably help that the Auto Plug sticks out an inch and like evl said I also have to add enough space
  2. That just answered all my questions but now I'm not sure I want to go with the Fire Bird. Any suggestions on a quality affordable comp? I know in almost every case you get what you pay for. I gotta ask in this day and age though. Thaks for the link romad7.
  3. I bought a CSS reliabilty kit a long time ago and never used the reduced spring. I wonder if I can put it in the front and get a similar result? My gun cycles the snot outta Win Universal from Walmart with the Auto Plug now but hey this sounds like a range excuse uh I mean test day. Wouldn't hurt to try. It could improve an already fast shootin reliable light kickin gun and make it a faster shootin, more than totally reliable (if thats possible) lighter kickin gun. I'll go Wednesday and report back. I can adjust the Auto Plug back to cut more gas to make up for the reduced spring. I didn't use
  4. Appreciate it. I really don't want to shorten the Gas system if I don't absolutely have to. it just runs so damn good right now. I may just leave it alone if I have to shorten it. I'm fully capable of doing it but if it ain't broke then don't break it you know. plus it's a kitten as is in the recoil department. I guess I just want to see how tame I can get it.
  5. Thank alot. Anybody know if the hole are drilled straight or at an angle for mid barrel comps in general? Next obvious question if they are about what angle?
  6. The Polychoke has everything from a door breacher end to a slotted end which is supposed to be a compensator. I can't comment on how effective they are but having an adjustable choke is always nice. I seriously doubt they cut recoil as much as a Monster Break. SORRY didn't read the post above this one. My bad.
  7. Correct about the Auto Plug. I actually didn't have to adjust it at all out of the box so I know I have alot to play with, thats the only reason I mentioned it. I had a fully blocked port on my 4 port gun and one of the three unblocked ports wasn't even drilled through all the way. I had to open the gas block up to expose #4 and brought all my tools to the range so I could open them up in small increments until it shot Win Universal with 100% reliability. I stopped at all 4 ports being 5/64. It runs like a champ with anything I can cram down it's throat now. Also when cleaning I don't have any
  8. Ok my S12 runs perfect. I've done alot of gas system correction modifications and polished the internal bearing surfaces. I have a TAC47 Auto Plug and a CSS performance Puck the one with the nipple and the gun has been converted. It is 100% reliable and I would definitely trust my life to it without a second thought. I don't want to lose that reliability. Actually I'm not willing to give up anything on the reliabilty side of the table. This gun actually likes Winchester Universal it runs it with absolutely ZERO FTF or FTE! If I'm not chopping the barrel or shortening the gas system will adding
  9. It rocks! Would you mind if I copy your mid barrel comp idea using a different muzzle device?
  10. Red_cedar, that polymer gives me uh wood. Can you post where I can purchase the polymer forend? It will eliminate alot of problems I've been working out. I hold way out on every long gun I compete with and this is meant for me to have. Bless you for showing me the light. I hate to get off subject but is that a SGM Magwell? I'm on the fence about whether to get the JTE or the SGM. I keep getting negative feed back on the SGM and I'd like to hear if it is really a piece of shit from somebody who actually owns one. I'd also like to know how the SGM mags that are already converted work in it compa
  11. Most people seem to head away from traditional, well not most but a good bit. I personally would run a commie length so the thick ass butt pad would'nt make the length of pull ridiculously long. I have a Mako AR adapter and a mil spec size M4 tube with a LMT SOP MOD and it works freakin great.
  12. I really like this look. It would also help in sweeping from target to target for those of us that prefer to hold as far out as possible in competition. It would have to be black composite for my personal preferrence though. It does look cool even in wood.
  13. Great deal and sweet first Saiga. You definitely went big and bad early. Welcome to the Saiga disease/addiction/infatuation. This is a great forum and most people here are willing to help with any questions you can possibly dream up.
  14. Before my Auto Plug I had a Vplug and it was great. I only switched so I could run mixed shells in a mag without adjusting. I chose the Vplug because of the extra set of setting. See my stock 2 position bottomed out then backed out till the detent engaged was so deep that it acyually sealed of the gas ports and turned my S12 into a manual eject, cock, and load POS. I had to back out a full turn for it to work flawlessly or overgas the gun so that choice was clear. So I was surprised that I was able to use the first set of settings. I also had a completely blocked 4th port and had some fairly e
  15. Either steel like actual old AK47 mags or a heavy guage aluminum. 8 and 10 rounders. Gotta have a good anti tilt follower and has to be relatively easy to disassemble and clean/rebuild if necessary with no tools. Plus springs that won't take a set so they can be left loaded for an extended amount of time. I'd pay $100 for that.
  16. Not the case with all coatings but with most the best advise that I can give is #1 BE PATIENT #2 several thin coats #3 you can't rush a good paint job. I haven't refinished an gun in a couple of years but my test bed S12 is really starting to look rough. I have a buddy who owns a gun refinishing buisiness and I think I'm going to give him a try. I really don't have the patients or the time to give it what it deserves. Dura Coat is a good tough finish as long as you follow the directions. I've even used some spray paint on a couple parts kit guns because it was the closest thing to the factory
  17. I'm not sensitive I started posting years ago on a Pat Rogers d@* riding forum and those are some touchy pricks. I just really wasn't expecting it to be a dead subject because I never leave the S12 side. It's all good chevy I get it no hard feelings.
  18. Where in the hell are ya'll finding these lrbho's at? I can't find them on Cadiz sight or anywhere. Sorry I hate to high jack your thread but I can't find one and I really want one.
  19. What about doing a traditional shotgun barrel port job? Anybody done one on their S12? If so was it effective?
  20. I buy Walmart Winchester Universal Bulk. $21 and some change for 100. I found out what most people and most Saiga 12's won't run and built mine to run it like a sewing machine for the simple reason that if it'll run this crap with my TAC47 auto plug then it'll run anything. I don't think I could reload any cheaper than this.
  21. I don't think I could say anything that hasn't already been said so +1 on pretty much all the replys.
  22. Well there goes cutting grass on my days off. Now I gotta go to the range! (shucks!)
