  1. $491 shipped, I believe, from BudsGunShop. I opted to pay with my debit card, so I lost the "cash discount" of 3%. My FFL had found one for me at one of his distributors and it would have been $465 out the door, but of course, I didn't have the funds at the time and they ran out. Ronin: I'll have to look into that holster. Thanks. NM0: I will probably be picking up some sort of NS or fiber-optic front sight. I've seen the install videos and it looks really easy to swap sights. Gonna have to figure out which one I want and then order the spring kit along with it.
  2. Snow. I hate it. I even started a rant in the Fight Club about snow. (I think it was before the FC's numerous douchings, though). It's hitting high 60's in the afternoons here. It's cold in the mornings, though. Left work at 6AM this morning and came out to a frost covered car. Even had to break out the icescraper that was still in my trunk from living in NY! The only time I miss snow is during Christmas time. We've been down here for 2 Christmases and I didn't get in the spirit either time. It's not the same without snow or at least wintery weather.
  3. Thanks guys. I like it too! I don't have any rounds through it yet. Probably won't for awhile. Hell, I had my G21 for a couple months before I was able to shoot it, lol. Ronin, what's the model # on your holster? I hadn't really planned on this being a CC piece, but figured I would throw it in my pocket when I took the dog out or something. But I was surprised at the size when I picked it up today. It's not as small as I thought it would be. I actually laid it directly on top of my G19 (my current daily carry) and it's essentially the same size. The bottom of the grip and en

  4. Just got back from my FFL's place a little bit ago. Picked up my very first wheel gun; a 2.25" Ruger SP101 in .357. I've read countless people say "It's built like a tank", and they aren't lying. This thing feels so solid. While the trigger pull feels smooth, it's heavy as hell. I already expected this, since I did a lot of reading on this gun long before I ever purchased it. I'll be purchasing one those 3-packs of main springs and seeing what I like. People seem to like the 12# spring as a good medium; lighter pull but not too light as to where light strikes occur. Some people repo
  5. Today's the day. My SP101 is "out for delivery" according to the tracking. Should be able to pick it up later today from my FFL. Just got outta work. Off to sleep and dream of my new toy! Pics to follow.

I love mine, I'm sure you be happy as a pig in....well you know.

  6. Thanks for all the info, fellas. Much appreciated. Sounds like a trust is more valuable than I realized.
  7. Right? Range report: This gun is amazing. Granted, I've only fired a handful of handguns, but this was the best by far. Windy day, target stand swaying violently, ~25yds back, couldn't feel my hands, and I still got a 6-shot group of 2" between gusts. Made my Springfield A1 look like a piece of shit. 1 FTF out of ~150rnds running Winchester 'Value Pack' ball. (Follower contacted slide stop while feeding and caught it the take-down notch) Sights need adjusted, but just barely. That trigger is insane! Absolutely the cleanest break I've felt. (Except maybe an Accutrigger) Very, very imp
  8. Good idea. Be sure to post pics when you get it together!
  9. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I tend to agree with Chile, Surefires are nice but are priced exorbitantly. I won't slam the product, just the price. BTW, the TLR1S (strobe) can be had for just a few bucks more and is worth it in my opinion. Yeah, I've seen the "S" version. I figure since the price is so close to the standard version, I might as well get the strobe feature. I have no personal need to spend double (or more) the money on a Surefire for a light that's going to just sit on a nightstand gun.
  10. +1 I see no reason to risk something like this, over a $20 buffer tube. Get one that cannot accept a stock. Better safe than sorry.
  11. I know, right? I have no idea what is involved in owning or taking care of an owl..........but I shall have one.
  12. I've heard about the "other people can use your NFA toys without you present" thing. But with the trust spelling out who gets the NFA items after my death........would that mean that the people named in my trust can take possession of said NFA items without the initial process of obtaining them? Such as paying the tax and all that. Because with a trust, a person doesn't technically own the items, correct? They "belong" to the trust, right?
  13. Looks good. The full length one is a tad extreme for my tastes. I like the looks of this shortened version.
  14. Slightly disappoined with BudsGunShop. They charged my card a couple days ago. I got an order status update yesterday saying my gun was "in the shipping department" and that I would get an email when it left the facility. Still no email. Sad panda.

Ya, buds gun shop is WAY over rated. I've had way better luck with other vendors, on the forums, and outside. What can ya say, people see the dollar signs and go nuts.

WTF. Just not got an update saying it shipped. It will be at my FFL's place on Monday. Weird that I got the email so damn late at night.

  15. Glad I could be of assistance in making your wallet a little lighter! And for sure, on the grip comparisons. Yeah, the black looks awesome with the stainless. It's a nice combo!
  16. ^ This. Buffer tubes are relatively cheap. Cheap insurance against anyone thinking you're trying to be sly. I've seen pics of people who had spare carbine tubes and ground off the bottom section where the "position" holes are, essentially making their own pistol buffer tube.
  17. I'm really considering the 11.5" Spikes upper with the KAC URX II @ AIMSurplus for my first pistol build. It looks so damn good, and the rail has a built-in front sight that folds down and is flush with the rail. It's actually a steal. $719 for the complete upper (free shipping). Add in the fact that the rail alone sells for $300, you're getting a great deal. It would make a nice pistol to hold me over until I SBR a lower and slap a stock on it:
  18. Good info, guys. Thanks. No doubt I'll talk to a lawyer if the time comes that I do form a trust. Just looking for other perks of having one, besides gun-related. The whole CLEO sign-off thing isn't an issue for me (I work for the guy, lol). Keep 'em coming if you got anymore perks.
  19. People talk about forming trusts all the time, when it comes to NFA items. I can see the benefit, in that it bypasses the CLEO sign-off requirement. But for retarded folk like me, what other plusses are there to a trust? I'm talking about plusses relating to NFA items, and relating to non-gun areas. What else can you do with a trust? (I realize we have an NFA section, but this isn't an NFA-specific question)
  20. Why are you putting a buffer in your S12? Is the carrier slamming into the rear trunnion? Generally, they're frowned upon in S12's due to the possibility of short stroking (check out Tony's disclaimer on the Tromix website).
  21. Are you using free email accounts like Yahoo or GMail? Some forums block those emails. Arfcom does this. Cuts down on the spambots. You'll need to use something like your ISP email; RoadRunner, Comcast, etc or whoever you have.
