Thanks. We've been having trouble with a pack of between 8-12 late at night making all kinds of racket, trying to get into the chickens, ect. Where I live is very densely wooded, so long range shots will not be an option. Sticking to buckshot.

I have almost exclusively promags. I agree that they are weaker than surefires. I've read a lot about them breaking with really tough use. But as far as reliability- I've never had a problem with them. (never torture tested either). Surefire mags have a bolt-hold on empty feature too. Certainly worth the extra cash. I'd switch them out and sell the promags- but I'd rather save up for a STANAG adapter and magazines.

If you're comparing Wolf .223 to LC 5.56, perhaps the slightly thicker case proves the magazine design to have REALLY tight tolerances?

The safety on a mav88 is positioned like an 870. The safety and pump release can be a pain to get at in a stressful situation, so I keep the safety off and chamber clear when its on HD duty. Recoil is a dream, not that much more than my Saiga .223. I got the specops stock. I'd have preferred the Monte Carlo version but it wasn't available when I ordered mine- back before Blackhawk bought Knoxx.
